Oh, my god! BRAID!

As a puzzle game I have only played its equal in Portal. If you own a 360 and you don't buy it you will be missing out on one of the most unique platforming experiences ever. It's like if the original 2D Oddworld games were 100 times more fun and interesting. Buy it. 15 bucks won't kill you.

The only Ecksbawks I can use don't have the AuwnLyne. (Pronounce them...)

I must wait for the PEESEE version then. Fiddlesti-fuck.

Comrade_Max 08-10-2008 02:36 PM

madryan 08-10-2008 03:56 PM

Leto 08-10-2008 05:10 PM

What the fuck is Braid? Someone tell me about it instead of everyone telling me how great it is.

Anonyman! 08-10-2008 05:46 PM

You run, fuck with time, win.

Nate 08-11-2008 01:03 AM

I REALLY want this game. Too bad I don't have a 360.

Laser 08-11-2008 01:34 AM

I've been following it for a while, I MUST get it!

Fuzzle King 08-13-2008 06:18 AM

i been playing the demo and i must say,it is good.
the last two puzzle pieces on the cloud bridge in world two had me puzzled for a bit but i got there.
but i wanna know why its 400ms points more than most other arcade games.

Wil 08-13-2008 01:57 PM

Having been without anything that can play a game from the last five years for a fair while, Braid has, like most of the gaming industry, passed me by. But I decided to be charitable and look it up. Is the Jonathan Blow who made it the one and same who worked at Oddworld?

Strike Witch 08-13-2008 08:37 PM

*shrug*

But it is incredibly awesome, apparently.

I like the story.

mudling 08-13-2008 10:48 PM

I'm contemplaiting on getting this game, it's alot of money, and the price may go down soon, but I don't know... I'm need something to entertain me before more decent games finally come out (and it looks like soon we'll get a whole lot of them, if only they were paced out rather then forced out all at once, at least I wouldn't feel like I was broke).
How long is it? Does it have much replay value? Otherwise I'm pretty much sold, apart from ripping off super mario.

Xavier 08-14-2008 02:24 AM

Just played the demo and I have to agree, it's an awesome game. I'll probably purchase it after I'm done with my exams...

This.

Both are wonderful

OANST 08-22-2008 03:22 PM

By the way, I got all eight stars. Which is time consuming and difficult. So, yeah. I'm cool.

Laser 08-23-2008 05:31 AM

I finished it a few days ago, it was suprising to know that Tim Braid is a stalker

You mean Tim. But, yes. Yes, he is.

Laser 08-23-2008 05:37 AM

About the stars, what do they actually do?

OANST 08-23-2008 06:50 AM

They fill up the constellation in the hub. Once it is filled you can look up at it and it will make a picture. I did it more for the challenge than anything else. I was just excited to find that there were more puzzles in the game than I thought there were.

Also, for anyone who isn't sure, the title Braid is not a characters' name. The game is called braid because the last thing Tim remembers seeing of the princess is her braid whipping in front of his face as she turns his back on him.

mudling 08-23-2008 09:30 PM

Well got through this game, it's great, I wont repeat what anyone has said, but it is amazing. :)
I said I got through it, but I haven't yet completed it, am up to the last door but I have to get all of the puzzles, and some of it's pretty hard for me, but then again, I'm not too good at puzzle games.

OANST 08-25-2008 04:45 PM

I might be able to help if you tell me which ones are causing the problem. I'm playing through it for the fourth time now.

Bullet Magnet 09-20-2008 10:08 AM

I finally got it, and just finished it. I feel somewhat betrayed, I had grown very attatched to Tim and his quest for the Princess. It sounded like a beautifully sad love story, I had supposed that messing with time had erased Tim and the Princess from each other's lives. Then time finally started flowing in the right direction and the scene that unfolded- the scene I had just lived backwards- brought my world crashing down around my ears. Bloody hell. "Now we're all sons of bitches."

How Ken Bainbridge.

OANST 09-21-2008 09:41 AM

If you really want to figure out what's going on then you need to understand this. The Princess is not a Princess. The Princess is a bomb. The Princess is THE Bomb. Figure out how to read all of the hidden text in the epilogue and it will begin to make sense.

Bullet Magnet 09-28-2008 08:24 PM

Yes, I worked out that it was, in fact, all about the Manhattan Project from the bitches quote, but I haven't found any of the alternate text yet.

Finding the hidden messages can be very difficult. Basically, you want to open a red book and stand behind an object which causes singing. However, there are a few of these that require you to rewind time to different places to get them to work. It's a bit mind bending at first.

mudling 10-01-2008 08:11 PM

Well the problem is, I have toruble on a stage, and then when I get around to asking for help, I beat it.
I completly finnished the first two acts, but am missing one piece from all of the acts afterwards, with the exception of the last (not the last last, the one before the big latter), in which I am having trouble with in general.
I'm sorry I can't be clearer, but do you have any general advice on the last world?

Bullet Magnet 10-01-2008 09:31 PM

Ridiculous, split-second events are indeed expected of you, so persevere at that stupid method you've been thinking of. It's probably correct.

If you think those are hard you should try finding the secret stars. Just figuring out which levels they are in is difficult.

mudling 10-02-2008 04:56 PM

Haha, wow, I don't think I'm ever going to finnish the game alone and I'm not ready to look at walkthroughs yet, but thansk for the advice, well, that probably confirms that I should do what I'm trying, because there are some levels where I'm getting the gnack of it.

Ok, minior spoilers ahead, I'll try and spoiler tag this if I figure out how:

There's one world though, not sure which one, where you have your shadow, and you use you shadow to click a switch so you can jump on the hedgehog, now right by the exit door, there's a ledge with a puzzle peice, now I can get a hedgehog there, you need more than one to reach it and the cannon only lets one out at a time, I have a feeling you need to use the hedgehog's shadow but I can't manage to do it.
Then there's the level at the end of the third stage, where you use your footsteps to go back in time, I can get all of the pieces bar the first one, where there are two locked doors and a tunnel for the hedgehog in my way, I have a feeling I'm supposed to give the hedgehog the key, and then go back in time and collect it, but I can't put this thought into practise.
There are others I have trouble with, but these two are the freshest in my mind.

.

I'm going to give you the answer to this one.

Before the goomba gets on the bottom path you need to put Tim in a position where it will fall on his head, causing the goomba to bounce upwards. Now, rewind time and allow your "ghost" to perform the action you just did. As the goomba bounces off of your ghost's head you need to jump and bounce off of it's head as it reaches the highest point of it's bounce. This will get you to the puzzle piece.

mudling 10-08-2008 08:03 PM

Oh my God, I would have never thought of that... wow, talk about thinking outside of the square, thanks heaps.

*Edit*
Hate to ask again, but managed to get all of the pieces apart from one, in the last world, in the second last level, there's a platform where you can safetly rewind time without moving, above that, there is a switch which drops a ladder to reach a puzzle peice, but it is just out of reach.
I've tried climibing the ladder while it bounces to get the puzzle peice, even using the ring, but I can never get there and I'm not sure what else to do apart from place the ring somewhere else, I can get to the ladder before it lands, no problem, it's just climing and then getting onto the platform where the puzzle peice is, is the hard part.
Am I doing the right thing and am just a little too slow, or have I missed the point completly?

*Edit* Nevermind, beat it, altough I'm not even going to try those stars, altough a great game with some realy mind bending puzzles.
