Nintendo vs Sega!
 

The great console war of the early 90's is back! I think that Nintendo rules, and Sega sucks, because Mario is more like Oddworld, than Sonic. Mario starts out as an ordinary plumber, while Sonic is already super-fast. Vote here!

I think the question is moot as Sega crashed and burned while you were in pre-school and have since been making second rate Sonic games for the big N.

If it's a battle between Sonic and Mario however, I vote Sonic purely for fangirl reasons <3.

Man, I remember back when I was about sixteen owning one of the original Nintendo Entertainment Systems. Awesome.

Sega have gone downhill, but were awesome ini the nineties.

They were both awesome, but now Sega are crap, so I vote Nintendo.

That. But Gameboy beats Sonic and Sega any day, hard. though I do love my Megadrive/Alex Kidd in Miracle World, and Zule etcetc it simply doesn't beat:

Gameboy's were terrible until the advance came out.

I voted for Sega, because in their prime, the Megadrive was the better console, and had much better games. Sonic was incredibe, and beat Mario in both graphics and gameplay.

They're both fantastic companies who originally made great games, and should be left how they are now. The Snes and Megadrive were my all time favourite consoles. Nice, original games that never get old. Sega started going downhill with the Dreamcast, then they were never heard from again. Nintendo carried on, still making good, but not amazing games. Then Sonic became 3D. Ugh. His voice goes right through me. He's ruined, and he makes me feel like punching babies. But overall, I think I prefer Nintendo, because they've gone further.

No, it's not. And Mario is more like Oddworld? I don't think either of them are remotely like Oddworld. What kind of a reason is that?

I love Sonic for the old Megadrive games, but nothing new is what they were. Seems to be taking a while for SEGA to realise that, rather than these consistently inferior games, which we've had to put up with for years now. 3D killed Sonic quite alot. And after that, nothing particularly similar really exists like the older Megadrive games, other than maybe Sonic Advance and Sonic Rush. The Sonic Advance series was okay, Sonic Rush wasn't bad, but not really the same.
I wouldn't say Sonic and Mario are especially comparable, other than personal preference.

I mean that I brought back the war in this thread. And in Oddworld, main characters usually start as someone ordinary, just like in Mario.

Mario is the saviour of the Mushroom kingdom, the story of the games is very different to the story of the movie.

He still starts out as an ordinary plumber, everyone knows that.

It doesn't actually tell you he was a plumber in the older games. And the general story was about an awesome little fat guy that goes to save his chick from some crazy ass Koopa. And to be honest, it doesn't compare to Oddworld.

... I didn't... However I wondered how he could be a plumber when he was in where jumping on things kills them, eating mushrooms make you big, and pulling three turnips up gives you a time bonus or something.

I only know these facts because I've heard everything but the fact that he started as a plumber. I don't have the game however.

I love both Nintendo and Sega! Donkey Kong Country 2 ruled! And Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Ecco The Tides of Time will remain in my heart right below Oddworld! ♥

I still have my Nintendo..but I think it doesn't work..and my mom throw away my Sega that I think wasn't broken. :(

Actually interestingly enough he starts as a carpenter but by the time he starts his profession he has already beaten Bowser no less than three times and rescued Princess Peach twice.<sup>1

Yes, he's a plumber. We see that in Mario Bros. But he is didn't start out as a normal plumber. He kicked crabs and turtles out of pipes. That isn't normal. A normal plumber goes to a person's house and fixes the plumbing.

Common Misconception, Sega didn't start going down hill with the dreamcast it was a brilliant console which came out at a bad time (when the PS2 came out) only after all that money invested in the Dreamcast was wasted did they go down hill.

I would say Sega, mainly because of Condemed 2 but i keep playing SSBB so i say the large N, although everyone knows Microsoft win in any poll about games companies

Gameboy Advance did not have 4bit sound, and the graphics weren't as cool. :( GBA was good, not as cool as the original though.

The thing is-we don't need to argue about this. Nintendo won, Sega fucked up with the Dreamcast; although it was a great system it still failed miserably, with the Sony master race coming in close second.

We should argue about something important, like if Superboy Prime is going to be in Infinite Crisis.

These consoles are dead, I wish everyone could see that, they might of been great once, when I was like 5 years old and never played video games, but they're not any more, stop holding on to them to attempt to be younger or as a novelty because you actually remember it, we have better consoles, better games, hell better lives for a reason, our technology improves.

But if I must choose, I choose nintendo, it actually surived, even though I liked segaworld. :)

Sonic's an immense asshole that doesn't understand that Robotnik is simply being practical. It looks like he's the only one on Mobius (fuck this recent shit where Earth is canon) who's taking advantage of the natural resources. True Kastere, but hedgehogs are much easier on the eyes than italian male plumbers, and besides, mario spends time and time again, going to the same bloody castles, only to find that the princess isn't there, I mean, couldn't you just ring up before all that effort?
Oh, and Marios enemy is a bloody turtle, seriously, I don't care if it's half dragon/ dinosaur, whatever, it's still a bloody animal, shoot the godman thing, or at least use your brains, oh sorry, I forgot, he's a plumber.
But why a blond princess who is apparently at least popular with turtles would be interested in a plumber is beyond me, where as the only ones interested in sonic are mentally deranged.
