If you could.....
If you could play ONE cancelled game from Oddworld Inhabitants, which would it be? This is a very tough question for me. I love the sound of Hand of Odd (Being able to play as more than one character with their own stories) but I suppose I'd choose Munch's Exxodus. We get to see more about Gabbits and Molluck (I think) would be at trial against Lady Margaret. We would've also seen more about a Slig's way of life (That apparently would give us a different view towards them) and it might possibly have.....CHRONICLERS!!!

Um, Munch's Oddysee?
Don't you mean Exoddus? I would like to play Hand of Odd as well. |

There's a lot of canceled games of Oddworld.
Are they still making that movie or whatever? I really think that was a bad decision. I love their Abe games! |
The gameplay for these games will probably always be a mystery, but they all had fairly interesting concepts.
SligStorm would have had AE-style gameplay, though it was more a level than a game. Habi/Fearietales are a mystery, unless Hand of Odd was the Habitales. I still don't know how Hand of Odd could have worked as a fun game; I don't think it could, from what we learnt, but you never know. If Munch's Exoddus would be to Munch's Oddysee what Abe's Exoddus was to Abe's Oddysee, then it would have been rubbish. I'm sure its story would have been worth tuning it for though... unless it starts with a setup as ridiculous as the highly valuable last remaining gabbit, a slow one-legged amphibian, being given a sonar device so it can somehow scour the continent for animals caught in Vykker traps and capture them ... and ends with preposterously needing one particular moronic Glukkon to become rich so he can buy the last can of Gabbiar, even though Abe is more than capable of possessing and stealing the Gabbiar from any of the potential owners. So I suppose it depends. Fangus Klot sounded good. |
Pound Dog!
nah I'm kidding, what I really want to play is The Brutal Ballad of Fangus Klot, I loved SW and it was supposed to be based on the same gameplay mechanics, plus when Lorne was talking to us about it I was really like "Give it to me now! I want to play it now!" |
Ouch, that's actually an insanly difficult question...
I would like to play Hand of Odd, because Oddworld themed RTS actions sounds to good to pass up. But, then again, I would also like to see how they develop the Munch charcter, and if they can make a good sequal after they've got a bit of 3D experiance from SW, so maybe Munchs Oddysee. Also, if you saw that OI video posted a little while ago, it showed some pretty awesome stuff that was supposed to be in a sequal. In Squeaks Oddysee I would like to see what the 4th Oddworld main charcter looks like. And BBoFK looks very very cool aswell, from the concept art and 3D models we have seen so far. Yeah, I would probally go with... Hand of Odd. |
I want to play SligStorm, Yay sligs.
|
SligStorm. It would be interesting to see Oddworld through an Industrialist's perspective.
|
Hand of Odd. Online goodness. Online RTS goodness. With Oddworld. With lots and lots of Oddworld. Hand of Odd.
|
I'd of loved to of played Hand of Odd, depending on how well it'd of worked as an RTS. Sligstorm sounded interesting too, though. . .
As a side point, me and Alector often talked about what'd happen *IF* they made Hand of Odd, before going the same way as Blizzard did to create an Oddworld MMORPG similar to WoW. :P Just imagine the awesomeness of that and how addictive it'd be. :D But I don't think that'd ever of happened. |

|
I'm not sure how an Oddworld MMORPG would work; every player would want to be a hero (or an evil tycoon) but the vast majority of sentient creatures on Oddworld are low-level schlubbs.

It would be a hard choice for me between Sligstorm and Hand of Odd but I think seeing Oddworld as an RTS could have been a truly revolutionary experience. |
I don't like the sound of Hand of Odd very much, when I was playing AO & AE I actually liked the fact that in the story, you're all alone and you have to struggle to survive through some nightmarish life event, and that it took you across so many different places and all that BS. Because in the Oddworld universe, the way I see it, you're not only offering up completely new characters and places, but also new stories and a new theory of gameplay. I still hope that Lorne remembers what he said once about him using videogames as a means of storytelling, not just a means of entertainment.
Munch's Exoddus was never announced, I believe, and therefore couldn't've been cancelled, but if it was, I'd love to play that - as long as I'm sure that they've got all the technical stuff figured out, unlike with MO. |

I assume if such a game was ever released you would either play as native muds or industrial muds would have a tutorial area where they have to escape from the factory, similar to Newbie Island on Runsescape (ick).
|
I'm not sure slave would have been an option at all... that why there are npc
The way I see it, you could have been a free mud, joining the resistance and then be captured, put in slavory until you could break free (or be killed of cource) |
They could possibly have industrialised muds in the big cities. I imagine a game like this couldn't really be made until more of Mudos had been explored in the quintology.
|
Munch's Exoddus. Have you seen the amount of Mudokons they were planning on having follow Abe!
I want that feeling of "It's another abe Game, how cool is this." Sitting on my bed playing the game with a box of Jelly Babies (It was purely coincidence I had a box of Jelly Babies upon first playing both Munch and Stranger :p). I want to see what Abe is doing next. Continue his life that we just left on a flying barge above Mudos... |
I want to play SligStorm.
|
Hand of Odd. Meetle fetish must be sated.
:
|
Munch's Oddysee. As it was intended to be.
|
SligStorm. It'd be cool to play as a Slig for once.
I STILL like playing as Abe. :) |
:
|
Munch's Oddysee before it was changed to xbox, and possibly Squeek's Oddysee.
|
I would play squeeks oddysee. Why? Because, even though my opinion is extremely outspoken, it would have good old Abe in it, therefore making it feel more like an OW game, and less like some random one- off game that has nothing to do with OW and compeletely goes against everything OWI has ever said about OW and is a western... not that we've ever heard of a game like that....

Stranger has some hefty pro-environment, pro-people, and anti-bad-corporate practice going on, and a vulnerable character caught up in the middle of the conflict. Stranger may be muscle-bound and play with a firing mechanism, but those are pretty much the only things that Lorne went back on his word with. Everything else is quality Oddworld entertainment, and while it's a one-off story, it has implications for the Quintology story. Gabbits would be screwed if Munch tried to bring his baby brothers up in a dried up river.

I don't think Munch's Exoddus would have told a large part of the overall story. It's a bonus game and, like Abe's Exoddus, won't have a real effect on the overall story arc of the Oddworld Quintology.
Besides, he didn't say he'd skip the game, just that he'd like the play Squeek. :p |
Abe's Exoddus had a large effect, they could turn all of the Mudokons into slaves, so there would be no one to help Abe in Munch's Oddysee.
|
I would play Munch's Exodus. At least continue from the last game that was made. I bet all the Oddworld employees can play all the games they want from Oddworld. I wonder how I'll join them... But where and how? Hmmm.
|
:
None of those Mudokons were in MO anyway. |
Why weren’t they? All those freed slaves have to go and live somewhere.
|
:
How would they play games that have not been developed? |
The Fearietales.
|
Hand of the odd, I always wanted to see the battles of oddworld.
But munch's exodus, Squeek's oddessy and the brutal ballad of Fagus clot sounded great, from what little that we knew about them. :D But what the hell is pound dog? Sure I've seen the pictures, but I know nothing else. |
It's the story of a dog working in the biggest meat-packing factory in China. But he soon discovers that, due to bird flu and the subsequent slaughter of millions of chickens, the Powers That Be are going to make up the lost revenue in dog meat. That's right! Pound Dog's on the menu!
|
Cool, just like Abe's Oddysee.
