Citizen Siege Film Pitches
The Oddworld Forums and The Oddworld Library would like to present the first proper realisations of the up-and-coming Citizen Siege film directed by Lorne Lanning and executively produced by Sherry McKenna.
The attached images are the creation of Raymond Swanland (a former OWI employee), and were part of a set of images used to pitch the film to prospective studios. As such, these images are from very early on in the films pre-production and are therefore very much open to change. Alcar... |
Thankyou so much. You're my new best friend :)
|
Wowowee... Who sent these to you?
These really emphasise the true tone of the film. |
:
Furthermore, expect better quality versions of these images, plus possibly more pitches in the future (not neccessarily from me). Can't provide a timeframe, I'm afraid. Alcar... |
Coolage. What can we deduce from these images?
The women is either a hostage or boss of some company, either way presumably a main character. She is either being questioned by police, or perhaps laywers/spokepersons from other companies, and she is having difficulty paying debts or something from the huge business she may be running. A heavily industrialised world is partially at least ruled by the big companies from today, such as shell. The common public is presumably being ripped off, or the Earth's oil resources have been drained very low by this point in time. Heavily armed guards seem to be necassary now, or just extra, nervous precautions. Presumably that is a line of employees, being either guarded or scanned by the guard for bombs or weapons. A guard turret is being attacked by soliders or something, some sort of battle/war going on is my best guess. Many more soldiers can be seen in the background. Would the four-armed creature on the right be a robot of some sort? The last one shows a virtually empty street, perhaps the man in the center is the protagonist? We can see that at the very least pigeons or crows have survived in cities. Veeeeeeeery interesting stuff here. Despite being open to change, we can be certain of the heavy industrial theme here, perhaps a possible future representation of our world. Oh, and thx much for them. SOmething to tide us over for about 2 days before we start becoming more irritable again at the lack of news... |
Those are ****ing awesome Alcar :).

“Disappears...Which would presumably indicate that this is indeed our protagonist/hero - and that the film is set before the year 2100. Alcar... |
Awesome! i hope this will be avaliable in italy!
|
Now we know where Lorne gets petrol.
|
Looks awesome, thanks for posting them Alcar...
from this I just know I'll love it! EDIT: third series of thumbnails, third picture: is that Wage Wars? |
Alcar and I had a discussion about this already. I'm under the impression that these are pictures from the movie pitch and, as such, would presume that there is some sort of action/gladiatorial scene in the film.
|
AH, yes, after seeing the extra pictures, rather than a war, it seems to be a battle between purely robots, for the sake of entertainment.
The step up from video-games and moves I guess. |
Thank you Alcar!!! Hope the film will be great :D!!! And these screenshots look very great :D!!!

Alex Vance Combine Soldiers Vortigaunts vs Combine Turrets Gordon Freeman in City 17 . . . :D j/k. :) And I'm not funny. Although I'm still kind of sceptical about Citizen Seige (takes inspiration from George Orwell's 1984, so did Half-Life 2, ideas and settings seem to be a little similar, OWI wanna release CS as a game too, Valve may have already done it IMO even if they didn't release HL2 as a movie, CS maybe a flop 'cause of this, and let's not forget when they tried to break new ground with MO and failed miserably, etc, but you see what I'm getting at, right?), this concept artwork that you got hold of looks really interesting. But I can't help the feeling that I've seen it all before somehow, and not just in HL2's concepts. Despite what I've just said though, don't get me wrong. I really hope CS will go far - I mean, these concepts do look quite promising too. I just hope that OWI know what they're doing. |
Wow, those look very impressive :D
Not very far from what I expected to see, i.e. a dark, industrialised atmosphere...I can definitely see Lorne in those images (his ideas I mean). Even though I'm not a big fan of Swanland, I'm amazed. I'm relatively optimistic about CS being a success. |
These images already make up my desktop wallpaper. Absolutely amazing.
|

Furthermore, for anyone that wishes to purchase the book where these images are taken from, you can do so through Amazon. Be warned, out of 160 pages, only 10 are devoted to Lorne Lanning / Oddworld / Citizen Siege. Alcar... |
Alcar, you have made my day- these things are awesome. My interest in CS has increased ten-fold, thanks.

Cheers for sharing these scans, Alcar. I've been waiting some time to have enough money to buy Ian’s book (hasn’t happened yet), so these make for a splendid preview. And like you’ve hinted, we are hoping for better copies L-later. |
I'm confused. Which image are you talking about?

Alcar... |
If we mean the red text on the right of the screen, it looks more like "Wage Gay" to me.
Anyways, I've made a wallpaper using this concept art, in case you want to see it. You can find it over at this topic: http://www.oddworldforums.net/showth...399#post339399 |
OT: Nice Wallpaper ;)

What do you think they're betting on? Thanks to Oddworld, Alcar, and Oddworld Library for these. Truly great. |
Wage Wars is going to be some violent entertainment... Can't wait to play it...
They must be betting on who's going to survive. The public should be allowed to send sms to give some warriors better weapons and stuff, or who has to die by the BonusBomb (made up) just because they don't like him. Endless possibilities |
Awesome pictures! They aren't too different from what I expected. W00t!
|
Wow! Awesome pics! I had no idea it was gonna look like that! =o

Very interesting indeed. In my imagination, Citizen Siege was never this dark, which is very refreshing to know that I was underestimating that tone. It makes me more intrigued on how exactly this will turn out, and luckily, it is only a little more than a year before Wage Wars will be coming out. I'm even more interested on how much the game will resemble the concept art we see here.
Just something to add, do you guys think that the woman in the first to the left image is the same one in the third thumbnail? |
Why aren't these pics in TOGG?
|
My guess is that since that these images are from a book, in which would mean that if Max or Xavier, it would sort of like stealing or copying images without permission, onto a website for everyone and anyone to see for the purpose of being seen.
|
We’re waiting for the originals.
|
Excellent! Top job
...Puts me in mind of my fave movie, "Max Headroom, 20 minutes into the future". If that's the case, bring it on!
Bob Oddworld drag race bike Slig tatt Ex FOM Bunch of other stuff |
Must have missed this thread.
Hey, thanks for sharing! It seems like something promising is going on. Though, I expected more odd creatures than pure humans. But anyway, I really can imagine this world's future like that... so it's good! Kinda. You know... |
Cool, thanks!
But some movie pitches look like... concept art. |
That's what they are :)
These were produced before any CG work began, back when they were pitching the film to prospective studios. Alcar... |
Hot damn!
Just what I expected, and just what I wanted! Awesums! |
This is just awesome Alcar....it's incredible you guys would go to such depths of buying around pitch related books and scanning them for our spoling pleasures :p. I think we practically have the plot of the movie in our hands.
I really love the color threatment they gave to the images, somehow it just puts them in the perfect balance right between sci-fi and 7 o' clock news....the plot looks pretty good and the ambience looks quite engaging, without completely losing that trademark OWI creativity we all know and love!. PS:Alcar, what exactly is this "design" book about? is it some kind of introductory book to good design that will sell? or is it just a collection of reallly kewl and rad picz for shiznit? :p Also.....WHY exactly was the text irrelevant? hmmm given how sparse the actual game news are I'd prefer to have ANY sort of information no matter how cryptic, so that I have the option to ignore it OR spent countless hours trying to make sense out of all the crazyness :p. what kind of information exactly does the missing text have? |
