Anyone here interested in the Football [Soccer]?

Just a stab in the dark, I don't really know what type of people use this forum.
When I say football, I mean Football that is played with 11 players on each team and involves kicking the ball with the foot, as made famous by England in 1966.
As an aside, Bristol City have made a great start to the Season, currently lying 7th in the Championship; while Bristol Rovers have broken Kieron Dyers' leg.

Mac Sirloin 08-30-2007 04:45 PM

You are attacked by a soccer player!
Go Zidane!
Zidane uses headbutt!
Its Super Effective.
You recieved red card.

Crig the Slig 08-30-2007 05:06 PM

Rolando Bianchi could fight off Zidane with his 'Fall down in Penalty Area' move

Mac Sirloin 08-30-2007 05:19 PM

I don't know too much about Football.Soccer, but (For The Sake Of Comedy).

Oh, no question.

snuzi 08-30-2007 06:21 PM

The last time I watched soccer was during the FIFA World Cup. The World Cup was indeed exciting to watch, but like most sports, bored me after a half and hour or so. I only really watched it to root for the Polish team.

Alex2405 08-31-2007 02:46 AM

I hate Football! It's violent & it sucks! But i still can't forget the Zidane vs. Materazzi match!

Crig the Slig 08-31-2007 06:21 AM

Guess that answers my question...

Laser 08-31-2007 06:26 AM

i love football!
although i prefer to watch than to play (although i am a good defender) and i support WEST HAM ;)

Crig the Slig 08-31-2007 08:33 AM

Unlucky with Kieron Dyer, but well done on beating the GAS (Bristol Rovers for the uneducated)

Oddys 08-31-2007 08:36 AM

it is the curse of west ham:
we get brilliant players and they either get injured and are out most season or are sold and go on to be even better at other clubs cas and point: Frank Lampard and Joe Cole

Jordan 08-31-2007 11:42 AM

I'm not a fan of it. I just don't understand the fun of kicking a ball around. Hey, I'd like it if people didn't put you down for sucking at it.

Mac Sirloin 08-31-2007 10:02 PM

They made an amazing joke about soccer in Mallrats, and I wish I remembered it.
No, it wasn't bad, it was just...individual.

Not quite everyone, though I wish it were true...

Aston Villa 2-0 against Chelsea!

Phwoar. Good game, chaps, or what?

Crig the Slig 09-03-2007 12:59 AM

Fantastic game, Chelsea were taken apart. What I would give to have the league table like it is now at the end of the season (also the Championship table - up the City!).

Chelsea had 68% of the possession and still got hammered, it was great. Oh and I like the chant they've got for Adeybayor, I'd never heard football and Karma Chameleon combined until then.

Laser 09-03-2007 04:43 AM

Drogba is injured!
whooo! i hate that bastard. I'd like to see what chelsea can do without there best player

Ftw.

The national team need to get their act together. Major pwned by Germany.

Crig the Slig 09-03-2007 09:07 AM

Yeah, I went to Wembley to see that...should've stayed at home...(mind you, that would mean losing the £409,856,986 spent on the tickets)

PS Good luck Wolves on 3rd November - You'll need it

Drogba was nothing until last season ,which was when he became great. before that he was very average.

Mind you it was the same with Santa Cruz- he's actually not got a great goalscoring rate, but ever since he went to Blackburn he's been playing well.

Rugby >>>>>> Football

Football is boring and labe.

Mutual Friend 09-08-2007 10:59 AM

Rugby is major fail. Football is most certainly for the win. etc etc

Football >>>>>> Rugby

Rugby is played by ugly brutes. In football, you have Joe Cole.

Hobo 09-11-2007 02:04 AM

Rugby is a real game, with blood and concussions and shit.

Football the worst you get is some tall guy crying int he hope that his team gets an advantage.

Crig the Slig 09-17-2007 09:39 AM

Coventry City 0-3 Bristol City

2nd in the Championship!

Not true. For instance, in my mind, Woodlice >>>>>>> Football.

Hobo 10-06-2007 07:20 AM

Talking of football. We just owned Australia at Rugby Football. Win.

Crig the Slig 10-06-2007 12:27 PM

BRISTOL CITY 2-0 sheffield united

ENGLAND WON - australia didn't

France have no chance (which happens to rhyme)

abe is now! 10-06-2007 12:35 PM

I am Italian. We won the world cup. We are the best. I am a good goalkeeper.

moxco 10-06-2007 12:36 PM

It's called soccer! It's confusing enough trying to remember the four real types of football without you trying to shove in a 5th one.

abe is now! 10-06-2007 12:38 PM

We won, Totti's goal from rigor... I'm sorry...

My point exactly!

In my opinion to be classifeid as football is it has to use a 3D-ovalish ball.

OANST 10-07-2007 10:25 AM

In my opinion........ Oh, I just don't care.

But association football is the eldest modern one. It directly begot rugby which directly begot American football. It has been played they way it is now since 1863 and its earliest known form was the Chinese game of Cuju, back in the second and third centuries BC.

And when the question is put to me whether a game in which a ball is primarily carried from A to B or a game in which a ball is primarily kicked should be called football... the only sensible option is the latter.
