Dreams

Hey, dream threads used to be an OWF staple, lets bring it back for old times sake.
I finally have a reoccuring dream that isn't me blind, deaf, mute, and in a pit being covered by books. Huzzah.
I'm in school and the last essay question on the final is to describe the person next to you. And every time its a good looking but not great looking chick, things varying a little here and there, race, size, age, hair color and type, etc. It always ends before it ever gets anywhere, though.
Its driving me crazy. But a good crazy.:D

Well, my clearest one of late took place on a space station orbiting a planet that the crew was doing research on. I dock my ship but something goes wrong and a chain reaction causes the station to blow up. The astronauts on the outside doing work on the station were blown into the thermosphere, incinerating them.

My latest dream, however, was a result of me looking up the Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force on Wikipedia. All I can remember is that it ended with me and a female pilot trying to escape this blue ball like creature who was chasing us because we awoke him from his deep sleep.

Can we make this thread about deciphering dreams as well? I do love a dabble at symbolism.

Jordan 01-06-2007 12:24 AM

I forgot what I dream about... Just random crap, I actually dreamed I was in the Mudomo Vaults once, freaky...

Hobo 01-06-2007 02:14 AM

I've clearly played way too much dead rising.

Zombies everywhere! But i owned them up with my knife. Oh yeah!

Jordan 01-06-2007 05:41 AM

Oh yeah, I remember what I dreamt about last night, I dreamt I was in this game merch shop and they had stands of Oddworld sculptures and paintings, it was my dream shop, lol! If only it were real!

Abraham Lure 01-06-2007 06:09 AM

I had a weird dream where all of the people (Including me) in my school were killed in a freak accident. And that I was the only one who wasn't sent to Heaven. Instead, I was sent to Purgatory. It was actually quite a scary dream. Maybe it was warning me of where I would go if I'm not careful.

Oddys 01-06-2007 06:19 AM

You think your dreams are crazy?
When I was younger, I had a dream about killing Abe.

THIS is crazy cause I love him. :D

Goresplatter 01-06-2007 06:27 AM

I've dreamt about Purgatory once... for me it was strangely a quite funny and entertaining dream though... wierd. I suppose it's because you couldn't die there so I was doing impossible things like jumping and impaling myself on a hot stalagmite then getting up and laughing about it :p
I got on the good side with the taskmaster demons there too, mainly because this guy was walking too slow in front of me and I was saving the devils the trouble of whipping by kicking him in the back :B

I suppose if you enjoy it it's not really purgatory, essentially.

Jordan 01-06-2007 07:14 AM

I sometimes have dreams where I'm running round school with just boxer shorts on, very very freaky!

Rex Tirano 01-06-2007 08:42 AM

Last night I had a dream that I met a member from here and we played football; I was the goalie. But he had to stop playing because he had to walk his dogs, so I had a party instead. Haha, randomosity.

Very random... Has anyone ever had a dream where you fall, and you never hit the floor? I have lots of those, apparently, if you don't hit the ground, you never awaken!

I used to have those dreams all the time, except I always hit the ground. That's why I don't sleep in the top bunk anymore.

Recently I had a dream about heaven's gates surrounded in a storm of biblical proportions. As short as it was, something about it had me really upset for a while.

moxco 01-06-2007 02:02 PM

I had a dream that I shot elmo with a shotgun and I felt sory for him cus he was my freind.
The weird thing is elmo drives me nuts, I hate him.

Oh and used:) have you ever played timespliters2 space staions blowing up sounds very familair.

Goresplatter 01-06-2007 02:48 PM

Well, here's an interesting one I thought... well, has anyone ever played Turok 2: Seeds of Evil? Well I once dreamt I was kidnapped by those Flesheater guys (big swords, grey skin, blue armour, red eye, drooling problems :p) but I managed to break out when I found a Cerebral Bore (if you haven't played the game, it's the one, awesome reason to play it. Trust me. :B) in the corner of my cell somehow. It was a messy, but also hilarious dream :D

@MoxCo., I don't know about space stations, but I definately remember a dream where I was walking down a dark alleyway (hey, have you noticed scenarios are never usually explained to you in dreams? Like those falling ones... I remember one where I'd kind of jump off a building about twenty times the height of the trade towers on top of each other without a parachute... why? God knows) and was attacked by a Reaper Splitter out of nowhere and slashed in the belly. I had that dreams while I was round a friend's house after we'd played Timesplitters 2 Coop for a whole day straight :D

Good times... good times...

Jordan 01-06-2007 02:58 PM

I have this sort of bunk bed, with no bunk on the bottom... I had this dream where I did a somersault and I fell off the end and broke all my bones, very gross... *Shivers*

Leto 01-06-2007 10:23 PM

:

Reaper Splitter out of nowhere and slashed in the belly.
At least you can have Reaper Splitter in your dreams, because in reality he's damn near ****ing impossible to get.

My most recent dream I can remember revolved around buying SNES games and playing soccer outside of Blockbuster with members of the KKK.

Try putting symbology to that.

magic9mushroom 01-07-2007 03:57 AM

I've had my share of Abe dreams/nightmares, including one in which he becomes horribly mutated (not exactly what you're meant to play at 5), also one in which I went around in a city randomly having sex with everyone (gross I know) and one in which a building was demolished on top of me. There are also ones that I don't want to go into detail about.

I didn't actually, I was 12. It was a bit scary as a lot of them were old women yuck!

Strike Witch 01-07-2007 05:00 AM

I dreamt.....

About a horror movie, there was a cabin in the mountains, and some people were staying there....every so often, the floor would cut a hole in it, rotate, and fall away...then you'd here people fall in a scream.

Scary.

Bullet Magnet 01-07-2007 06:27 PM

I often have dreams in which I've died. The most memorable one had what I can only describe as a sort of purgatory, but depicted as some sort of heavenly casino, in which you must keep winning, or you are sent to Hell. The dream never explored any means of going the other way.

Frequently my dreams put me in sort sort of mortal danger, but my body is so heavy, and although I can stand in the position I'm in perfectly well, basic movement is a colossal struggle. I always wake up absolutely exhausted.

During one dream-filled and elaborate night, a normal dream in which I was playing an imaginary Aliens game on my PlayStation, a game which gave me an actual nightmare later that night. I was on a spaceship with my classmates on a school trip. We docked with a larger ship, whether or not this was the destination was never adequately explored. This spacecraft appeared completely deserted. We dumped our bags in a pile shortly after leaving our own ship, on a metal grating that was part of an elevated platform we were all on, in a huge room. I wandered off a little, and came to a place where the floor shrank inwards and became a bridge that lead to a door. Looking over the railings and down into the gloom below, the cause of the crew's desertion became clear. Thousands and thousands of alien eggs. I returned to my class in horror.
Thus begins a horrific blood fest. The transition between the tranquil state at the beginning and this new outlook is fuzzy, but my point of view in the dream would shift to that of my friend and my brother, as one by one they are ripped to shreds. I am the last one left, so I begin strapping various devices to a cryotube, including a cloaking device for some reason (I don't know how I planned to be rescued) and prepared to jettison the escape-pod. Apparently, my dream ended when one of the creatures turned out to be on board, and it tore me to pieces as I slept.

Come to think of it, that bares an uncanny resemblance to the original Alien plot line. However, with my mental image, and the way it is set out, it is quite different from the film. Believe it or not, that is perhaps the most coherent of any of my dreams. My last one put my on the top floor of a double-decker bus, as I watching my brother take part in an armed bank robbery, but as he climbed into the moving getaway car, a tyrannosaurus pulled him out by the leg and ate him.

Arxryl 01-07-2007 08:33 PM

Very interesting dreams! One I've had about... well, a lot of times is that I go to Disneyland to finally try out the new Pirates of the Caribbean ride, and then I realize it's a dream and I wake up. I know that's a weird dream to have but... oh well. :)

Another dream I have had recently is... that I realized i was dreaming the entire time, but not to it's full extent. I thought that I was kind of sleep walking, but I had a kind of subconcious control over things. So pretty much I went through an average day with weird things happening and it's kinda hard to explain.

One of the coolest dreams I have ever had was this:
There I was. Standing alone in this school. all of my friends had become brainwashed and were trying to make me brainwashed as well. I fought back to keep my sain mind and eventually made it to the band room. Yes. The band room where all of the teachers were plotting to take over the entire... something. Can't remember what. :)
Well, anyways, I pulled out my lightsaber form my pocket and began to fight them all. I had risen victorious over these foul creatures and stood there staring into my evil science teacher's eyes. His bald scalp shown brightly in the light of the room. He also pulled a lightsaber from his pocket. Lightning split the scene as we stared eachother down. We charged at eachother, ready to engage in a fight to the death when...
I woke up. Dammit.

I'll post others when I either have them or remember them. :)

Bullet Magnet 01-07-2007 09:23 PM

I've had less interesting dreams. There was the one with Darth Vader, Mario, Nathan Fillion, Jon Stewart and someone who claimed to be Al Capone were standing in an infinite white expanse, doing nothing but scratching themselves, looking at their watches and occasionally belching. It went on for hours, until my alarm went off and they all breathed a sigh of relief, muttering something about quittin' time just before I woke up.

moxco 01-08-2007 12:06 AM

I found this sreensaver on the net were elmo plays with matches and sets him self on fire. The next night I had a dream that elmo caught on fire and he started running into to people, which put them on fire too.
I was one of the people, then i ran around screaming.

Why does elmo always in my dreams?

magic9mushroom 01-08-2007 03:01 AM

Mox, can you please not be so arrogant in every single thread you post in, and can you improve your spelling and grammar please.

Just remembered this really weird one with two fairies sitting on my lap and taking great delight in the fact that I believed in them.

Finally...

I had a dream where I was in this huge christmas shopping centre, and it was snowing, I could actually feel the cold on me, maybe that's why I was in my underwear sliding around the floor! That dream was weird, it was like it was real...

aaj111 01-08-2007 08:57 AM

The only dreams I remember are ones with chicks in them. and my older dreams. Which one was this mix of Batman and a few other games and shows. It was just completely random. It nearly gave me a heartattack. lol

Most I never remember. I'll be like, dude I had this awesome dream! But I don't remember it.

skillya_glowi 01-08-2007 05:34 PM

I just dream about a lot of random crap that I usually don't remember...I do write them down sometimes though, and then I look over them later and I'm all wtf?

Kamille 01-08-2007 07:39 PM

I used to have dreams that the upcoming Transformers movie was really horrible, but that was only like twice.

I mostly have dreams about spiders, I hate the things.

Strike Witch 01-09-2007 12:35 AM

You must really hate Tarantulas.

I've dreamt about my stories, sometimes.

Most odd. Usually if you jot down a few words about it, they will make you remember pieces of it. In fact, I've remembered whole dreams from a two words synopsis. "Racist Toys", "Cinema Planetsuck" and "Work J. Fox" are all dreams I've had in the previous year that I've remembered and provided synopsis, yet the ones I havent I've pretty much forgotten.

Humph.

skillya_glowi 01-09-2007 04:56 PM

Lol

But most of the time, though, it takes a lot more than two words to remind me of a dream I've had. In the case of yesterday, for example, no way "green statues" would have been enough.

But sometimes, what's really freaky, I remember dreams for a very, very long time. For instance, I still remember this one dream that I've had when I was about five.

I rarely have nightmares, though. That's a good thing. In fact, the last one I remember happened like in 2000...something, when the forest fires were really close to where I was living. I dreamt that I opened our apartment door and saw my dad, and the house behind him was burning.
Ugh D:

What I like about dreams though is that sometimes (not all of the time) I know when I'm dreaming. In dreams you can fly around and breathe underwater. I likey that ^^

I've done that in the past, and still do that whenever I have a chance. I actually used to have a book that was about a third filled with my past dreams. I always made sure to go into detail though, documenting events in the particular dream that were significant or stood out, so that later, only I would be able to understand what I wrote and remember it :p.

Lately, I haven't been having many dreams, and the one's I've had, I've forgotten rather quickly. I prefere nightmares over dreams though. For some reason, my nightmares are far more interesting than my dreams, and give me great ideas for characters to draw, or stories to create.

That's why it sucks that I haven't been dreaming lately: no new ideas of that sort :(.

Leto 01-10-2007 02:03 PM

My dreams aren't really dreams or nightmares. I mean, they're hardly scary, but they deal with dark material sometimes.

I had two last night, don't remember how they intertwined though. One was a story of these highschool children wagging and trying to get someone fired, which concluded with me (not me, as such, you know... the protagonist) and one other, presumabley a friend, at the end of a corridor where our room was being assailed by a zombie. Very nonsequitor to the main story.

The other revolved around me and a friend Ian (who halfway through the dream turned into a Goonies-like fat kid without explanation) uncovering a pedophile hideout. The start of this one had an entirely different point, like I remember images of me and Ian just going around town, but I don't remember why.

Pretty much to remember your dreams, you have to think of your dreams as soon as you're concious. If you wake up and think "What a nice day, I know I'm going to go out and pick cherries", within the 5 seconds thinking that you've lost your dream. Just think of everything that happened in it once you wake and you'll find you should remember much more.

Bullet Magnet 01-10-2007 02:22 PM

I've been able to identify long forgotten dreams as the cause of many of my deja vu experiences. And they're always the dreams that you never remember, one of the five or more most people have every night but keep no recollection of it the next morning.

skillya_glowi 01-10-2007 02:25 PM

I have déjà vu at the weirdest moments sometimes, but it usually isn't dream-induced.

That's what I do. I replay it in mind mind, over and over again as soon as I wake up, and rush to jot it all down. Once I lose it though, it's gone for good. I just can't seem to find it afterwards.

Arxryl 01-10-2007 03:53 PM

I had a dream recently, where I realized it was a dream, and thus, I remember all of it a lot clearer. That doesn't mean it was awesome though.
I remember looking at a street sign, looking away and looking back to notice the text was different and then I knew it must be a dream. I do things like that periodically during the day so the habits can work their way into my dreams through my sub-concious mind. (such as, looking at things, then looking away, or tyring to see if something changed or looks abstract.)
Given that none of it made sense the only part I think I really need to tell you is that me and my older brother were at a weird theme park and rode all kinds of vomit inducing, hair raising, and physically impossible rides.
T'was still pretty neat though. :)

Arxryl 01-10-2007 03:56 PM

Sorry for double posting. my computer screwed up.

snuzi 01-12-2007 09:04 AM

I had a dream the other night that I somehow insulted my girlfriend's great-grandparents (who are deceased), and made her extremely angry with me. All throughout the dream, I was trying to apologize to her, but she wouldn't listen. I think there was probably more to it, but that's all I can remember.

The funniest part is, that my girlfriend and I have never been angry at one another or fought, and if such a situation actually occurred, we'd probably just laugh about it :p.
