W&B

I feel that the point of W&B is receeding, i mean to say hi to someone or to say happy birthday is fine, but 'OMG i passed an exam' doesn't seem to be a forum topic within itself to me, none of the posts are going to contribute anything more than a 'Woot' or 'You FTW' And as the posts now count there i feel that there should be some kind of ruling as to what goes in and what stays out. I feel it's turning into a blogging page for many. And i'm ALWAYS right. So heed my words OWF. Lest I become a SMOD again and smite you all.

Nate 10-27-2006 01:56 AM

I have no problem with it remaining W&B even if it is just a general spamfest. But I agree that it would be better if posts were not counted.

Havoc 10-27-2006 02:33 AM

Uhm... DENIED!

Bullet Magnet 10-27-2006 03:40 AM

Democracy wins again. Thankyou Havoc!

Hobo 10-27-2006 04:12 AM

Havoc need i remind you that you are only a Fan Corner mod. That's a lower ranking than being banned. Now go to bed and cuddle up with a nice warm furry fanfic.

Bullet Magnet 10-27-2006 04:20 AM

And that is what we in the sport call a "pwnage to the goolies".

I still outrank you, biatch. As far as I know, you're not a mod at all anymore so think before you speak. Or better yet, think and then keep it to yourself cuz I don't want to hear it.

Anyway, to make 1 serious on-topic comment in biatch's thread here, why are we all so obsessed with post count? I post a topic, people reply to it. It's the circle of forum life! Whee!

Now, where did I leave that plush tiger... *wanders off*

dripik 10-27-2006 07:19 AM

There's no point arguing over this... yet. It's a single topic we're talking about. If there were more nonsense blog-like threads created by the same person, that might be considered as spam, in my opinion.

Like, the threads 'Passed my road regulations exam', 'Passed my first aid exam', 'Passed my driving exam part I.' and 'Passed my driving exam part II.' appearing in quick succession would be something to worry about.

Nate 10-27-2006 07:21 AM

Perhaps a mature individual like you is like that but plenty of the less experienced members love to see those numbers tick over and W&B is a virtually non-policed zone to do it in.

Meanwhile, I was looking forward to seeing my 4000th post and I somehow missed it. Has someone been playing silly buggers again?

Hobo 10-27-2006 09:52 AM

I'm not talking a bout a single topic, i just remember someone saying that all personal topics go in W&B. If topics are so personal, why are they being created, isn't the point of a thread to get a discussion going or to inform people of something they care about.

And Havoc you clearly didn't read my post before you replied. Plus post counts are very important. As they show that I > nearly all of you.

OddworldSpace.

Rich 10-28-2006 01:13 AM

Heh, indeed. I honestly don't think it matters at the moment, if it gets more extreme, eg: "MY SENILE + DEMENTED NANS BIRTHDAY!!!11!" and "ALL CLEAR, MY NEIGHBOURS DOG DOESN'T HAVE AIDS!11!", then we should take action.

AquaticAmbi 10-28-2006 11:09 AM

Bwaha, wonderful.

My only complaint about such topics is that they're pointless as no one really cares. I mean, there are of course some exceptions--sometimes it's nice to give some support/advice/whatever to someone if they need it, but generally there's not enough interest in most personal topics. If there's something to discuss, great, but if there's not.. Then it'll be a pretty stale thread.

And jeez, Hobo, stop with the furry crap. I know you're only kidding, but seriously, you're beginning to cross the harassment line.

Hobo 10-28-2006 11:51 AM

To be perfectly fair i get enough shit back from Havoc...

Havoc 10-28-2006 12:25 PM

Yea but I don't usualy make it personal ;).

Aw Ambi, every forum needs to have two rivals, otherwise there is noone to stirr things up a bit in times of boredom. And besides, I love all the attention the guy gives me, always quoting me in his sig and stuff. Come on, don't you love the dirty old man?

I guess the question that is boggling my mind would have to be......Why do you care? Seriously. Don't be queer.

I can't help it. It's my nature to be a complete bender.

magic9mushroom 11-02-2006 05:03 PM

Yeah, post counts should not be counted in W&B.

Adder 11-03-2006 05:56 AM

tbh, If you start counting the posts it makes the forum seem worthwhile. If you don't count the post, it makes me wonder why the forum's there {short of "spammers can jerk off while spamming in there so we don't all get sticky monitors"}.

If it's a spam fest with post counting, it should become less of a spam fest by enforcing the rules of everywhere else (IMO).

Ultimitly, I don't post/visit there so it makes no difference to me.

skillya_glowi 11-03-2006 07:23 PM

I think that W&B generally (not speaking of the shitty threads) is a good way for members to, um, bond. I mean, if about 50 people are going to keep this forum alive, they've gotta realize that the user sitting at the other end of the internet is an actual person, and maybe congratulating them with a pleasant event in their life or sympathizing about an unpleasant one. I think that W&B is almost necessary to the survival of the forum.

Al the Vykker 11-07-2006 03:37 PM

It's still a necessary part of the forum but I dont think we still need to count posts there.

Alcar 11-10-2006 02:33 AM

If members are really against counting posts in W&B, I'll revert it back to the way it was before. However, I won't be getting rid of W&B entirely! :p

Xavier 11-12-2006 03:39 AM

keep OWF, keep W&B, get rid of the post count in W&B and get rid of hobo :p

Hobo 11-14-2006 10:26 AM

Get rid of Hobo the piss taking, animated avatar having, child fiddling bastard!

magic9mushroom 11-14-2006 12:23 PM

Well I think it is possible to delete your own account, Hobo.

Aye to no post count in W&B, Aye to Hobo shutting up and stopping spamming, no to getting rid of W&B (they'll just blog somewhere else) and no to getting rid of OWF (unless it was required to get a better system).

..............Gay

Alcar 11-15-2006 07:51 PM

I think this thread has run its course. I won't be changing anything post count wise, Welcomes & Birthdays and Necrum Burial Grounds will still count towards a member's post count.

Spam should be handled the same way in W&B as it is in every other forum. Removing post counts from W&B isn't an excuse to spam or to become lax on controlling spam.
