The Simpsons

Sorry if this thread has been started before, but who here likes the Simpsons? If you do, then this is the place to talk about it.

Rex Tirano 07-13-2006 02:32 PM

It's become a coperate vehicle - changed from a family show, to become a poisonous corrupt television programme.

Havoc 07-13-2006 03:17 PM

Whaat?! The Simpsons are awsome!

Fez 07-13-2006 03:20 PM

I THINK ITS OKAY!

I was about to say the same thing but...

Rex Tirano 07-13-2006 04:00 PM

The new series is horrific. If I were a 10 year old I'd be shitting myself.

I love The Simpsons, but I've only watched the older episodes that I got on Netflix.

Kamille 07-13-2006 04:38 PM

i love this show some of those episodes are classic! but i haven't watched it in a LONG time i use to watch it religiously

Rich 07-13-2006 04:46 PM

Its ok in my eyes. I won't sacrifice everything to watch it, like some people do, but if its on, I'll watch it and its good.

Mutual Friend 07-13-2006 04:53 PM

Well, I know before I watch any episode of The Simpsons the blood of a lamb must be spilt.

sketch 07-14-2006 01:15 AM

I enjoy it when I watch it but the new episodes feel different and the’re funnier things on TV.... like scrubs....

Havoc 07-14-2006 01:57 AM

Well I don't think I have seen any of these 'new' episodes. But I've always liked The Simpsons for the sheer dry humour in it. Gotta love the simplicity.

The new episodes are quite good, but my favourite all time Simpsons episode would be "Seymor Skinners Badass Song." For all you people who don't know the names of episodes, it is the 100th episode and also the one were Skinner gets temporarily fired.

I like the one were homer has a dream with god in it and starts staying in on sunday mornings.... it was just so funny....

I wonder what God told Homer the meaning of life was.

Nath 07-14-2006 11:48 AM

I never watch tv. If I do, its usually because of the simpsons. It's great. Some episodes i'm tired of watching, but others are brill and so funny.

Statikk HDM 07-14-2006 08:57 PM

The last few seasons have been terrible in my opinion and this shouldn't shock anybody as I've been bagging on the Simpsons for about 4 years now. I think its really unwatchable. Its painful, its like watching a formerly great athlete refuse to hang it up, you know? The Simpsons is the Johnny Unitas of television.

Mutual Friend 07-15-2006 04:32 AM

The two moments in the Moulder and Scully episode involving the whale, with THAT noise it makes, for some reason absolutely cracks me up.

I'm laughing thinking about it. Heh.

Nate 07-15-2006 07:43 AM

Heh. I can remember being on a camp where we showed that episode to the kids one rainy day and I recited the dialogue from the entire episode with the characters. The kids were mightily impressed.

-His jiggling, it's so hypnotic.
-Yes, it's like a lava lamp...

ANN NEELY 07-15-2006 11:31 AM

I grew up around The Simpsons, and I still love to watch it when it's on.

Bullet Magnet 07-15-2006 02:50 PM

I remember when people were saying series 4 was terrible complared to the earlier ones, and now they are seen as magnifacant now, and the new episodes are the ones that suck. Ultimately the show will always appear to be not-quite-as-good-as-it-was-before, even though it probably is about the same.

Did anyone catch the one written by Ricky Gervais?

Facsimile 07-16-2006 01:25 AM

Season 10 was the last one I fully enjoyed. After that, all of them have been sub-par to me. I remember the exact episode where I thought "What the hell has happened to this show?" it was the one in Season 11 with the horse racing jockeys. Terrible.
I absolutely love all the first 10 seasons though. I can watch them over and over and always find them funny.

I'm looking forward to seeying Ricky Gervais' episode when it airs here. He's always brilliant.

Lord Vulcher 07-16-2006 01:38 AM

Anyone got any ideas on what The Simpsons Movie is going to be like?

Bullet Magnet 07-16-2006 05:15 AM

What? They're still planning on making that?

Holy crap. I had forgotten exactly when I had given up on the Simpsons. It was right after that episode. No joke, I remember it now. Thank you.

And that was years ago. Shows should really... just... stop after 10 seasons. Or three or four (?) in Family Guy's case.

The Simpsons will only stop when a movie has been made.

Slig_Cake 07-16-2006 05:28 AM

lol I was watching it the other day, there's some small moments where it just cracks you up. Like Principal skinner putting on a play for Mr. Burns to make him lend money to the school. One of the skits in it was...

Ralph: I'm Dr. Stupid, I'm here to perform surgery, but since my school closed down I don't know how. Oops! I just cut off Mr. Burns Head!

Mr Burns: I never liked that Doctor Stupid!

Lord Vulcher 07-16-2006 11:26 AM

Anybody taken The Simpsons Personality Test? It says I'm Mr Burns!

Nate 07-16-2006 08:27 PM

Now why did I think it would be Ralph Wiggum?

used:) 07-16-2006 09:02 PM

I'm Lisa.

Slig_Cake 07-16-2006 11:57 PM

The big fella Homer. There's a little bit of him in everyone anyway

You mean the lazy and eating part?

scrabinator 07-17-2006 12:22 AM

I, like a few other people in this topic, stopped watching this show after about season 10. Occasionally I'll watch a new episode but they're just not as good. I used to love the classic episodes (and I still do!), but I just don't like the new ones and find many of them to be quite unfunny...

sketch 07-17-2006 12:52 AM

I got lisa

the simpsons movie comes out next year wonder if that will be the end of the series

Statikk HDM 07-17-2006 12:34 PM

Remember the 128th Episode special where Troy McClure says something like "Who knows how many wacky adventures the Simpsons will have until they are no longer profitable?" The Simpsons movie will be the death knell for the show, it will be FOX going out with one big bang and the show will be cancelled about a year afterwards. Thats how I see it anyway. The instant The Simpsons starts dragging on the bottom line the movie will begin with full force.
