The First Game You Ever Played
Thanks to Ambi for giving me the idea for this in the SimCity thread.
What is the first game you ever played? For me, it was watching my brother play Space Quest on our old DOS based computer with a mono-green monitor (those were the days). Looking back, I can't understand why it entranced me so but there was just something amazing about controlling this character in a virtual environment. It was like nothing I've seen before. And yet, when I look back on it, the game is so primitive that it's amazing. |
For me, it was Prehistorik 1. An old DOS-based game where you controlled a caveman in a 2D environment, avoiding hazards, smacking dinosaurs with a club, collecting stuff and more. There's a 2nd part of Prehistorik, I think that's way better.

I can't remember that far back. It was likely something for the Commodore 64.
Super mario on "Sega"
I played a few of those DOS games at a friend before I had my first computer. But my first real game was C&C Red Alert. I was at a friend one time who had it, and the concept of building bases and making units grabbed me and I have been a C&C fan ever since.
Lemmings! The original. With the benefit of hindsight, I realise now that it was only the beginning of the addiction.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Word.
either contra or super hang on not sure
Hmmm, this is tough. Well, I am guessing that it was the fighter game Killer Instict for the SNES. I would always go over to this kid's house across the street from my grandparents house when I would visit them and play on the SNES sometimes. Brings back such fond memories.
If it wasn't Killer Insticnt it was probably either Donkey Kong World or Super Mario World which we also played on the SNES. |
the first game I ever played is Abe's Exoddus
The first one is quite hard to remember... But very early on I played Wolfchild on an Amiga (?) and Commander Keen on the ol' DOS machines.
Ooh, and when Doom first came out, my parents thought 'twas too gory, so monsters were disabled for about a day. :D |
Hmm...hard to remember when I was 5 years old. It was either Total Annihilation or good old AO. Guess which one I like more, given that I'm on these forums.
The first game i ever played was Super Mario Bros. 3 on the NES. Which i still have, might i add...

The first game I ever played was also Sonic the Hedgehog 2. In fact, it's the reason why I got my little sega genesis.
And speaking of Killer Instinct, I loved that game when I was little. My uncle had a nintendo at my grandparent's house, where my grandmother watched me as my mom worked everday. I find it to be a humorous little image of a tiny blonde-haired girl, setting aside her Barbie dolls to play a violent video game. Oh yes, I do. |
It was either Mortal Kombat or Super Mario World. i was about 2 or 3.
Jetpack, which needed to be played from a tape, and needed a television.
Oddly, it was Destruction Derby 2. That was on the PS1 if you want to know. But it put me off racing games entirley. :fuzsad:
mine was killer instinct aswell got it free with my snes when i was about 4 5 dunno summat like that my favorite character in that was the big black metal dude and the flame dude who usedto say some really weird crap when you fired fire dudey my first ps1 game was rainbow six rogue spear witch i played at a friends house he kicked my ass coz i had to look at the controller to find the buttons lol
My first adventure game was Sam 'n' Max Hit The Road. I was at a computer fair with my father and badgered him into buying it for me; against his will as he said it was a child's game simply because the characters were cartoonish. That then sequed into my long-term interest in Lucasarts' adventure games, initially with Day of the Tentacle (after reading a review of it in an old magazine) then leading on to basically the entire back catalogue.
Omg! Day of the Tentacle! :D That was awesomeful. And Monkey Island. And all of them old adventure games.

mine was a 10 in one game cartridge on my gameboy it included super mario land and tetris.... sega came later....
Doom is the first game I remember playing, but I'm sure I probably played some games that were on my dad's computer by default, like Chip's Challenge (I love that game for some reason), Tetris, Jezzball, etc..
The first game I ever played would of been The Lost Vikings at a friends house when I was very young. I remember this because I was still in primary school. I was fascinated by it, even though I completely sucked at the game.
Then there was a VERY long gap, before I then played Abe's Oddysee on the PlayStation, at another friends house. At which point I fell in love, and the rest is history :p Alcar... |
I remember that one Alcar! I also played it at a friend's house. I was just trying to remember what it was called the other day. Must find out if it has become abandonware yet...
Anyone lese here's first game their worst one?

Hmm... Mine was Sonic the Hedgehog 1, my parents bought a Sega Genesis before I was born, they loved that game to bits lol!
I believe it was either:
Crash Bandicoot, FF7 and/or Tekken 3. Legendary. - Rexy |

Ah, bringing back memories of sitting in my sisters' bedroom, staring at a computer screen as they played game after game. An old Amiga; Retro!
My first... Can't really remember, but might have been either Lemmings, Lemmings 3 (classic, the little squeaks they omitted as they were crushed, blown up, plummeted to their doom, drowned, fell into meat processors... so sadistic, yet so fun), uh... there was this wierd thing where you typed in commands to get a crane to pick up an elephant and load it into a lorry, crazy that. Might have been a 'Dizzy' game, Dizzy Magicland or Dizzy treasure Island (both starring a little egg with red shoes, an annoying habit of dying frequently and very easily, and terrible controls, yet how I loved it). Then again it might have just been Tetris. I spent loads more time watching my sisters' play than playing myself, cus I couldn't start the Amiga up on my own, and they didn't ever want to help me do it! So many of us played the same games, or recognise the games we each started on, it's like the retro game family or something. Getting all nostalgic now. I was given a gameboy later but only ever had one game for it (Gameboy Gallery 1), then got a Sega Mega Drive off of a guy who didn't want it anymore, not now he haad a Dreamcast (ooh, aah), with loads of games (several rubbish, and even a couple of empty boxes, never quite understood that, but loads of great classics: Sonic 1, 2 and 3, Ecco the Dolphin, Road Rash, Columns, Tiny Toons: Bugs's Treasure Hunt, Micro Machines Tiny Turbo Tournament Two. Still got it hooked up in my bedroom). AE was the first game I got not from someone who'd finished it. By the time I was done, the box was falling apart and the game book was in pieces. Good Gravy, I loved that game. *sniff* Stupid Windows XP :crying: |
I'm not sure if it was Super Mario World on the SNES, Mario Bros. 2 on the NES, Street Fighter 2 on Sega Genisis, or Mega Man X on the SNES. My memory isn't quite clear, but I think it was Mario World.. I think. I vaguely remember my sister playing Final Fantasy 3(or 6) and Zelda 4.
I think mine was Commander Keen 4 or something. . . Old DOS games FTW. :) A friend of my dad's showed it to me originally. . .
Then I went onto really old, but really cool Macintosh games which were awesome before thier time. |
AE i wus 5 wen i fers playd it i beet in like 2 days after that lol but got bad ending =/
the Exoddus: please try to use proper spelling and punc. It makes the entire post nicer and easier to read.
I'm sure by using such horrific text-talk you will be lynched soon enough. Is any one else shocked that there are children in this world who do not know about Pokemon? [I mean the games, those games were the first ones I played on a GBColour {but also the entire fad of pokemon}.] - Rexy |

My memory isn't quite clear, but I think it was Mario World.. I think. I vaguely remember my sister playing Final Fantasy 3(6 in Japan) and Zelda 4 and the Toy Story platformer.
