Why the PS3 will bomb and why the Wii won't.

It's ridge racer. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiidge racer! 2 - The console is priced at 599 US dollers... ... Thats 200 more than the 360. You can buy the 360 and the Wii for just about the same price as a brand new PS3. WHAT THE HELL IS SONY THINKING!? 3 - For the launch, Sony has planned 1 million... World wide. That boils down to about 1 per town in the US alone... This is much worse than the 360's numbers at launch, but aparently Sony didn't learn anything from the first one out of the gate. 4 - There arn't any good games coming out for it. Heavenly Sword and MGS4 apear to be the only games even worth trying on the PS3, and 2 games is not worth 600 dollers, now matter how good they are. It's like Steel Batallion, but worse. 5 - They've stolen (again) concepts/technology from Nintendo. After the Wii was announced Sony put a small gyroscope in their controller, so if the player violently thrashes about, the character will jump. I loathe me some PS3. 6 - It's not worth the technology their flaunting. No one but Sony is using Blue-Ray, and its also alot more expensive to run Blue-ray format, and to make it. This is bad news for anyone making games for the PS3 since games will average about 70 dollers US brand new. 7 - It's almost as big as god damn Xbox! ---- Now the Wii on the other hand... Everyone loves classic games, and Nintendo is playing on that. Available on Nintendo's online catalouge will be every game back to the original NES to buy and play on your Wii, some with enhanced graphics or controls. Also, the Sega platforms will be availible on their too, and any game with mutliplayer will have online gaming support. Goldeneye 64 online with friends? Hells yeah. Interactive controller. UNH! *Thrust* Sword fights? Cooking Games? Tenis!? UNNNH! We've seen most of the videos, and Red Steel looks absolutely awesome. Unnnnh... Besides, if you're not a hardcore gammer with the Wii, just buy a 360 too. It's only 200 US and is about the size of 3 DVD cases stacked on eachother... I can't wait for some Wii... *Snicker* Wiiiiiii! |
That's all basically the reason why I believe the Wii to be the superior of consoles. And that's basically the reason why I feel luke warm inside.
The Wii also will be able to run gamecube discs, that means no waiting for any adaptions! :D Yaaaaaaaay! |

I can't tell if that's meant facetiously or not.
But ultimately what will decide which console wins out is the games that come out for it. I think developers are going to jump on the Wii bandwagon because it's so much cheaper and easier to program for. |
I agree that the PS3 is.... very expansive. But otherwise, I really disagree with all this talk about what console is the best. Truth is, there is no best console. Why do we keep going on "what console is the best"? When the answer to it, is one own's oppinion.

Again, this is entirely your oppinion. Other people might think the Wii-games suck. Oh, and why is it so bad that PS3 'stole' technology from Wii? You want the whole console-industry to stall because they shouldn't borrow each other's ideas? Actually, if they didn't borrow each others ideas, the consoles wouldn't advance as fast. I think that the only thing that should specify wether one console is better than another is the games made for it. If one likes classic game, then sure, go buy a Wii. Xbox 360 for people who like more violent games or whatever. I'm just so tired of this stupid "what console is the best"-bitchering. |

Sony suck anyway. They stole the Wii controller, created their own Hand-Held and copied Xbox Live. They're just the biggest bastards on the planet. I'm not a big fan of the Nintendo either, and in my opinion half their games are meant for children, but I respect them due to the fact their games make allot of people happy and they're honest. I was actually expecting Nintendo to be the first company to give up on consoles, but now I think it's sony. Why is it any different from a 360 or a Gamecube? Because it's discs are so sensitive that if air touches it, it will break? And that's good, why?
I'll just stick with my 360 and my Nintendo-loving mates. Sony made a revolution with the PS1, then they just started to suck. |

The PS3 won't bomb. It may not do as well as the PS2, but their are too many spoiled Sony fans out there that will get their parents to buy a PS3 for Christmas.
Not that I'm badmouthing Sony fans. Sony just has a really solid fan base in America. |
I think the PS3 is going to suffer at first because the Xbox 360 is going to have an aggro price cut just before the launch or around the holidays. Gamers are going to see that they could get another 6-8 games for the 360 so PS3 is going to suffer at first. Also, their will still be fanboys holding out for Nintendo's thing not to be cram packed with shitty kid games and lousy gimmicks at the launch.

Hmmm, that's a thought. Considering the high prices that hardly any of their gaming community will be willing to pay; they will have to lower prices soon after so many units are sold.

the high price point will effect sales no question especially since they have always been like the average gamers choice for people who just want a machine that will be a good investment, sony always supports their systems with alot of games.

The XBox 360 has excellent Multiplayer support (free online gaming!) and has had plenty of time to establish itself in the market, the Wii (the hell kind of name is that?) benefits from supperior innovation ie the controller, though I suspect that later on a more traditional controller will be released, and Nintendo also has to shake out of the niche that it has worn for itself that it mostly bears kiddy titles. The PS3's pricetag will be a tremendous blow to it's early sales, but it won't stop people buying it. The real PS3 community will develop when the price drops. It also benefits from being the most powerful monster of a machine to enter the market for this generation, stats-wise.
But for me, the biggest problem with these consoles is the need to splash out on an HD TV to benefit from the next-gen graphics. |

I couldn't argee more...Not ridge racer. That is the game .... that game was released on every console that sony produced. Price...that is extorsion. I don't get that much pocket money. Might consider getting the xbox 360. The Wiii will be expensive aswell. Imagine how much a controller going to cost. Usually they come with 1. |

Silver, yes, but you need Gold for online multiplayer. Although you can get a lot of stuff from Silver. I'm just glad that Gold can be purchased through pre-paid cards. No more creditcards! Yay!
Hmm, that reminds me, that last update of XBL, you are supposed to download stuff while playing a game now. That's not true. It actually pauses the download, until you exit the game! True, you can browse Marketplace, but still... |

Well, in the UK, I'd say that PS2 has always been far more popular than the XBOX and Gamecube. The way I see it is, Nintendo is generally day-glo kiddie shit and resident evil, which ports to XBOX and Sony anyway and the XBOX is for yanks. :p
