Yeah mon.

Amber and I are going to Jamaica. Back in a week.

So behave.

Laters.

Ah yes, Ambizzle has told me of this.

Anyway, have fun. And tell me if the rum is really as good as they say it is. ;)

AquaticAmbi 06-16-2006 08:51 AM

We're having margaritas because the drinking age is 18, which will be the first time I've ever had more than a taste of alcohol... And I'm only 102 or so pounds. This can't end well... :D

T-nex 06-16-2006 08:58 AM

Being drunk really aint that special <.<

Anyway, I hope you'll have a great time in Jamaica. Sounds like a fun place.

You're only saying that because you're sober right now.

Leto 06-16-2006 03:08 PM

Have fun and safe travels on your ventures, chaps.

Nate 06-16-2006 10:58 PM

I hate you!!!

As I hate everyone in a location warmer than 15 degrees Celsius.

But have fun nonetheless and return soon to keep me company on the long cold days of staring at my AIM window and wondering where all my friends are.

Munch's Master 06-18-2006 01:52 AM

Have fun in Jamaica, I've always wanted to go there but never have yet. Sounds good.

Godlesswanderer 06-18-2006 02:20 AM

*Shocked* Ooooh Jamaica eh? Cool stuff. Have fun guys! Or guy and girl!

Don't have sex without me! :D

Mutual Friend 06-18-2006 10:06 AM

I hear that Jamaicans are so laid back that several important political decisions get put to one side while they all smoke drugs and drink, and their builders have really shoddy workmanship. Hope the pair of you don't get affected by this. :(

Havoc 06-19-2006 01:00 PM

I am getting so f*cking sick and tired of your prejudgemental and racist bullshit.

You're an idiot, and thats not a prejudgement.

Why Havoc, havocn't you heard? He's British, nuff said.

No offense towards you personally, MF. ;)

I'm British.

What are you trying to say? That British people are prejudgmental and racist?

Yet you're from the land of the KKK right?

Mutual Friend 06-19-2006 01:16 PM

Havoc, you're a crap moderator. Now, assuming this comment is taken very seriously (and I have no reason to presume otherwise) I put myself up to take up your position and show you how to do a job with style! Or, y'know, do it right.

Yes, land of the infinately small back water terrorist group which has hardly seen light of public attention since the mid 20th century.

If I recall, you're form the land that has held a pejudice against middle eatsern people. You goddamn racists, so appauling, it almost brings a tear to my eye.........

Fez 06-19-2006 02:41 PM

Yet we have one of the most modern, thriving multi-cultural societies in the world and always have done. We're not all racist, just as americans aren't all stupid... oh wait! :p

It wasn't even bad racism, but MF, your attacks on Havoc are wrong and unjustified, he's more than earned his position as moderator here, keep this crap up and you'll be leaving, willingly or not.

You really need to expand and explain yourself there, darling.

Yes well, when it comes to some countries, I consider myself lucky. And not just because of the weather...

I kid, of course. :p

Yow. I was swigging beer at 12.

How was it that a goodbye thread turned into a semi-flame war, is what I wanna know.

used:) 06-24-2006 11:37 AM

I am guessing you posted something rude about Skillya's remark on her drinking beer since age twelve, MF?

skillya_glowi 06-24-2006 12:41 PM

People usually do. I just don't see where "deleted" comes in.

Nah, I merely answered the question of 'How was it that a goodbye thread turned into a semi-flame war?' in not-so-flattering terms, which I thought wasn't worth the hassle.

I encourage the opinion that 12 year-olds should drink alcohol!

SeaRex 06-24-2006 07:58 PM

Umm... kay.

Anyway, I'm back.

Jamaica was awesome. We had a beautiful house with stairs that led right down to the ocean, complete with coral reef and a bunch of nifty fish and junk.

Made me feel a little guilty, though. The majority of people down there are really poor. Doesn't stop them from being nice. Not the fake American nice, either. They were nice and honest. Good combination. The culture shock went both ways, too. Coming back to America, I was... well... shocked at how crowded, wasteful, uptight, and self-righteous our culture is. Always known about it, of course, but it takes seeing a different culture first hand for it to really hit you. From our plane I could see all of the air pollution blanketing the American cities. Lovely.

Highlights:
  • Bob Marley's birth/resting place at 9 Miles Village.
  • Snorkling with Amber.
  • Haggling with the locals over souvenirs and other stuff.
  • Hiking through a jungle, climbing down a rickety-ass pipe/ladder/rock structure into a giant sinkhole/cave complex, and swimming in a semi-subterranean river.

used:) 06-25-2006 12:30 AM

I know how you feel about the whole culture shock thing. It went through my head when I visited Peru. It makes you feel how made we have it here, but also how gluttonous we are as well.

Dusan 06-25-2006 12:35 AM

"Bob Marley's birth/resting place at 9 Miles Village."
Ah Jamaica....

Munch's Master 06-25-2006 02:22 AM

Heh, sounds like a good trip. And yep, I definitely can understand the whole realising-society's-wastefullness, I experienced it when I went up to a little out of the way place in the countryside in Scotland. The more peaceful somewhere is, the more you realise how much we exploit the planet, I guess.

AquaticAmbi 06-25-2006 08:42 AM

I cried a lot on the trip. We got to stay in the heavenly part of Jamaica--our rented house was paradise. But we got a pretty good glimpse at hell. I wanted to give all my money to all the people and/or spend it feeding the starving ferrel cats. I fed the kitties twice and went back and gave two artists some extra thank-you money for the carvings I bought.

I also went scuba diving. It was the best diving I've ever done... One site was called the canyon, where I swam through 50+ ft. high mountains of coral. The second site was a drift dive, where I got to see more details of the vibrantly colored fish and corals.

We had a margarita each, which were NOT like the one I tasted with my mom in Florida a long time ago. These tasted like drain cleaner and were in no way a highlight of our trip. But Luke mixed the rest of mine with some fruity stuff and made it bearable. I later called him a nipple and at one point told him to be aboo from Aladin as I kneeled on a rug in the hall, kind of singing "A Whole New World." I think it didn't affect me too much though; It just made me a little more weird and hyper than usual. Still, not something I'll ever do again.

Anyway, merely chatting with the locals and observing their way of life was so interesting and humbling. I don't think I'll ever forget any of those I talked with.

Luke covered everything else pretty well in a much more concise manner. Meh. He did forget to mention the beautiful waterfall and caves in the area of the jungle we hiked and climbed through.

EDIT: I also got stung by a jelly fish. Grr. Not so fun.

That last past is what makes me envy you so. Swimming in a subterranean river. That's incredible.

SeaRex 06-25-2006 10:13 AM

Well, if it makes you feel any better, we didn't actually get to swim in the subterranean part; just the section of the river that was overshadowed by this huge sinkhole dome ceiling... thing.

But yeah, it was pretty neat.

It must really have been great to go scuba diving. Marine life is so awsome to see up close and personal.

Kamille 06-25-2006 06:27 PM

marine life is amazing your so lucky lol

SeaRex 06-25-2006 06:33 PM

I still say "pchaw" to marine life. Too many venomous things.

Mongooses (mongeese?)... now that's where it's at. Those little things were all over the island.
