Is there another ending?
I've been wondering, after I finished AE it said that you didn't save everyone and asked me if I wanted to play again. When I saw the ending, it seemed like it was the good ending. If you save every one, is there an even better ending?
|
not really. you'll just get a message of congrats and a mention about Munch and Abe's mom.
|
Really? Latamire's and Abe's mom?
Wow...I need to play AO and AE...badly...:fuzemb: |
ABE HAS A MOM !

What you receive if you save all 300 Mudokons is a collection of art of Sam, Maggie and some other stuff. And more importantly, the luke warm feeling of saving all 300 Mudokons. |

Go to The Oddworld Library and click on the link for TOGG (the oddworld graphics gallery). If you want a link for the oddworld Library, there is one in Max the Mug's signature as well as Xavier's.
Or I could just PM you the images. |

What HobbitNinj said was you get a message about Abe's Mom, and Munch. The message is something like: "Don't worry about Abe's long lost mudokon mother yet ... you'll find out all about it when you meet Munch ..." |
:
|
Sam, Abe's lost mother, was supposed to be in Munch's Oddysee, along with many other things that were cancelled out of the game.
|
Thank you Cullen.
Yes, while we don't meet Queen Sam, she is alluded to on the label for the Mudokon Labor Eggs. |
Oddipus' Complex has details of the game endings.
|
There is also a sarcastic message if you kill over 250 MUds.
|
And you get to play the 2nd disk again with invulnerability. If you do it in AO you can play Rupture Farms II with infinite grenades. Not that I ever killed so many mudokons myself. Ahem.
|
:
|
You are aware it only stops you from getting shot?
And that you have to continue from FeeCo Depot (where the game puts you after the Bulletproof message) for it to work? |
:
|
That's weird. Well, there is a cheat to get invulnerability for the whole game. It means in-game entities can't harm you, but falling can.
|
Unless you land on your back.
Used, why did you say that you get art of Sam and Maggie? it only vaguely mentions Sam and Munch then gives you concept/design art of various species and backgrounds from AE, but I see no queens or anything (I have the PS1 normal version. Are the queens in an update or the PC version?) And what's this bulletproof stuff about? Is that when you kill as many mudokons as possible or what? And on a slightly different note, it suck how you only get infinite grenades, like, in the point when you can get as many grenades as you want (pretty much) anyway? Its retarded. I was so looking forward to blowing those Scrabs up...also, I saved it afterwards anyway, and when I booted it up again I didn't have any grenades. How gay is that? |
Damn, I didn't know that you could get infinite grenades. Maybe because I never really thought about killing Mudokons (I should give it a shot)I only got the Saving Bonus...Which was retarded because I knew the code to that already.
|
I know. You have to kill at least 76 mudokons to get it. I killed 80-sumat, every single one that is possible to be killed. It called me a twisted psycho for killing o many :P
It doesn't save it, I don't think. But I saved it iright at the beggining of Rupturefarms 2, so mmaybe the coding did summat. It's still not fair though. If anyone knows a way to get infinite grenades in another earlier on area, do tell. Please. |
Ay...the infinite grenade thing is just on PS, isn't it?

I think it may have been 87 or something that I killed, I can't remember exactly and I don't have the save file anymore. The infinite grenades is only on Abe's Oddysee, and aggravatingly starts you off at the point where you can get as many grenades as you want pretty much anyway, making it fairly pointless. The ones that can't be killed are generally obvious, as you are either forced to save them to open doors, you can't get next to them or anyhting as they're under the floor you're standing on and you can't get down there, or there is merely nothing to kill them with. Pretty much, the most of them you can't kill are in secret areas, the other one is that you have to save it to get past an electric wall. The others are all pretty much killable. To help you, some that aren't in secret areas that you think you aren't able to kill may be killed with grenades that you can pick up, mainly when you first return to Rupturefarms. Also, don't bother killing any Mudokons until you get to the stockyards, because they'll all die anyway, regardless. You have to kill many in secret areas, though, and be pretty smart at spotting oppurtunities, such as one point in the Scrabanian temple, a secret area (you hopefuly are familier with) has you leading a Mudokon to the left and getting up past a mine to chant to open a bird portal, then droping down and then climbing down another ledge to get through a bird portal yourself past a Scrab. Go right to the edge before you drop down to run through the tube, then keep telling the Mudokon there to "follow me" until it walks of the edge and becomes Scrab meat, also allowing you a slightly easier escape past it.
You only have to rescue that one Mudokon, though. |

I got 83...
And WTF about the saving? I saved my infinite grenades and it loaded fine. :
|
Yeah, I suppose.
Right, I did an official test of the AE ending. It said the glukkons made me bulletprrof to fit my new job (VP of worker relations), but I had completed the game with invincibility, but then I was invincible to Slig shots. I did the code again, and when I had finished it, I died, meaning that the code was either left on afterwards when I restarted, or that it had given me invincibility instead of just being buletproof. Thoughts? |
Sorry for being a bit off topic but it's about the infinite grenades... After you load the savegame file with the infinite grenades and then exit, something really weird happens.
If you go on the level select screen and pick something, then press the Z key for throw, the game crashes. But if you hit a rock sack or a meat sack, you get infinite rocks or meat. Except with the meat it's really weird. It's the only reusable thing, right? When you first get it and press the Z key, you see 1. If you throw it down, then pick it up again, it says 2. And so it goes all the way up to 11 (10 is the infinity symbol, 11 is the diamond thing). Then the game crashes. Had anyone else noticed that? |
Yeah well what interests me is the lack of invincibility in AE
|
Don't you mean in AO? Invincidility's only in AE. I presume the trange problem above is becuase a loaded new file is created when youget infinite grenades, programmed with you having said amount of grenades. If you save it again, the coding is changed so it thinks otherwise, but the coding for infinity remains. Or something. Just a random guess.
|
Good idea, Zerox. Whatever it is, it's uber cool that you can play through the whole game with infinite grenades or rocks or meat pieces or whatever...
|
No, you have to start from Rupture farms 2. Which sucks. I was really looking forward to blowing the c*ap out of those Scrabs. Or maybe Elum at the end of Scrabania. And the Slogs. But you can blow Elum up at the end of Paramonia anyway. Mines+follow me=funny.
The bulletproof vest in AE started me at Feeco, which is more reasonable, as you are closer to areas where you'll really need it eg. Slig Barracks. But you can use the invincibility code anyway, making that useless. |
I just said that you get infinite rocks in Paramonia, Scrabania, the Free-Fire Zone, and the Scrabanian Temple and infinite meat in Paramonian Temple. You don't get infinite grenades everywhere.
|
For the last time there is no bulletproofing in AE
|

With the grenades, yes.

Maybe it's some sort of in game glitch that they didn't fix, or they forgot to put it into the game and had to hurridly release it, hoping that the message in the manual would discourage them from trying then getting angered.
|
OWI didn't try to focus around AE. Prehaps there were times that OWI didn't bother to check for glitches. I found the most glitches in AE is in the end.
