Oddworld Forums Native Skin...
A very long time ago there was a previous version of Oddworld Forums which included a native skin. Far in the future when the forum software was upgraded, this skin was lost to the ethers and was not seen again.
One day Abe Babe was really bored and decided to work on the skin again, after a very long hiatus from the forums. Thus the native skin was reborn and given a new lease of life for all to see. ---- Okay, so my attempt at storytelling is really lame. :p But hopefully you all like the re-designed native skin. I can remember one of the criticisims of the previous skin was the clash of "greens" and "blues" ... so I decided to stick with just a base color of green, which fits in more with the native theme. Ironcially I didn't even realize there was a discussion topic on a new skin until after I began working on it. As I work on stuff on a test server so had it half done already by the time I came here again. :p You can choose it from the skin selector at the bottom of the page, or go to your User CP and choose native. Or if you are really lazy, click this link :: http://www.oddworldforums.net/index.php?s=&styleid=18 So post here if you find any problems with it that myself or the rest of the staff have missed. And hopefully I'll be able to stick around a bit longer this time. ;) Abe Babe... |
Awesome. Nice change from the industrial skin.
Yup, as said before, awsome job ^^.
Good to see you make a return Abebabe :)
The native skin is nice, not the most attractive, but good job anyway. |
Awsome work Abe babe! Ill keep this skin for ages, then ill be like: What does the industrial skin look like?
Nice to see you back!
And great new skin. |
Three cheers for Abe Babe!
This...is...awesome! You've really outdone yourself Abebabe. I love this skin! Yeeahw,
:
 EDIT: Wow... do fix that quote box though... XD |
Pretty cool.
I want a rainy native themed one though. That would mow face! |
Here, a bucket of water, go wild.
Thank you AbeBabe, for this exellent new skin!
I'm glad you came back, I always wanted to meet you! (Online, of course):) |
This skin is awesome, I too like Cullen wanted to meet you.
Abe Babe is only signing autographs till 3 tonight, sorry guys.
Ooh, nice. Very nice.
I absolutely adore the vine-ish things around everything. So fancy! EDIT: My only complaint is that there's no little gender symbol by everyone's names. |
:
I fixed the gender icons as well, thanks Ambi. Thanks all for the feedback. Abe Babe... |
very well done AB :)
I have no complaints,... yet :p |
I still don't see the gender symbol :-(
Thats funny because I do see the gender symbols
I don't, where is it?
Wow! A new skin! This is a change from the honeybee theme I used. But I think it needs to have some...colour. It's a bit greenish. Or at least some light.
We DID have an industrial skin you know... why were you using the honeybee theme? O.o
I liked it. It was bright and cheerful.
Ah, it does look fantastic, Abe Babe. Very lush and inviting, and pleasing to the eye. My one small criticism is that some text doesn't have a very high contrast with the green.
Muy Bien! I like it and I think I'm going to keep it now as my default. :)
...it's very green.
While I do like it more than Honey Bee and the Industrial theme (since it's softer to look at), it does appear a little dull. Still, new skin so I'm happy. EDIT: After a brief trial, I would recommend: 1. Make the quote box a noticibly different shade of green (probably lighter shade). 2. It seems to load slowly... although that might just be me. My browser hasn't cached the images yet. (I like the swirly/almost-Celtic-style corners, btw) |
Yay Abe babe is here! Hopefully this so called creator of the forums shall stay for a while :p!
Anyway awesome skin. Goes along with my green window :P. |
One thing thats puzzling me , is it just me or is the honeybee theme exactly the same as the munch one except with a different picture at the top?
Sweet, nice skin. everythnig's too much of the same colour though, you might want to brighten u pthe quote box, reply button and maybe the background to the posts. Still very nice. Its a bit hard to read but its different, very celtic, and a good new skin.
Maybe make the area to the left of the post (where the member info is) a different shade, like in the Industrial theme.
Beatyfull skin Abe Babe !!
Oooh, I love it! Very snazzy. I always found the Industrial theme a little hard on the eyes, but didn't like the other themes enough to change. This, however, I love. I especially like the little vines; they're a small touch, but really enhance the look.
Me like. Good Job, AbeBabe.
I keep forgetting to reply to this.
The quote box has very weird behavior for some reason. I fixed it somewhat to have a border, but what it displays seems to depend on what skin people use. I notice that I see new posts with light borders and even default borders. I'm hoping this will be fixed when we upgrade the forums soon. As for the choice of colors, I've found that I get more complaints when I make a "bright" skin than when I make a more darker/low contrast one. I think it's because people really don't like backgrounds that hurt the eyes. I know I don't. Although I do notice there is a dramatic change in the skin coloring from my desktop to my laptop. On my laptop the colors appear to be a lot duller than they are on my desktop [the skin was designed on the laptop]. so those of you who are seeing dull colors probably have a similar screen to my laptop. @Adder, are you still having slow load times. It's probably a caching issue. I did run a test on the total size of the main page comparing the industrial to the native and the native is actually a little smaller in size. Of course the Munch/Honeybee themes are always going to be smaller in size as they are designed with speed in mind. Thanks all for the welcome backs. :) Although I hope to hang around, I kind of aren't really too sure what to post in general topics now days. I suffer from the same problem at my other forum as well. Abe Babe... |
Lovely skin, thanks.
