Abe's Exoddus Music: D/L and talk about 'em!

Abe's Exoddus game music is finally here. You can download them at the link below:

Main Level Themes (Recorded by Lovo328):
http://b3ta.cr3ation.co.uk/data/abesexoddus.zip

Ajiellyn is working on her recordings of the different variations of the main level themes, such as possession, danger lurking, and I think a few others. Once they are ready, I will post a link to them here.

So now that the Abe's Exoddus soundtrack is available, what's YOUR favorite tune? Share with us! Mine is FeeCo Depot.

Salamander 12-11-2005 09:40 PM

well i only have necrum mine at the moment but, its really cool, you should download the stranger songs from www.oddworld.com downloads, thier really cool

Lovo328 12-11-2005 09:45 PM

I have some. I'm a real video game music junkie. One of these days, I will make an Oddworld MP3-CD. I have a Ridge Racer, Crash Bandicoot, Super Mario, and Twisted Metal MP3-CD, each with sub directories of the various games in the series.

Cullen Heath 12-12-2005 05:49 AM

Hey Lovo.
My favorite is ZULAG 15. Closely followed by the GLUKKON OFFICE.

Thanks for the music.

odd chick 12-13-2005 04:19 PM

Hmm.....it's hard to pick a favorite because I like them all. I think my favorite is Zulag 15 (or any of the Brewery music) as well because I love the way it sounds. ;)

metroixer 12-13-2005 04:31 PM

I love zulag 15 also. I think what makes it so great is that it doesen't really use any real instruments at all. Just trash cans and banging against walls and such. :D

odd chick 12-13-2005 04:34 PM

Yeah, I think that's probably why I like it so much as well. It's more like noise instead of an actual beat. ;)

metroixer 12-13-2005 04:44 PM

Yea but the slig barracks theme....I loved it I really did but it diden't seem to fit in. I mean are you telling me sligs are CHINESE?

odd chick 12-13-2005 04:48 PM

 I always thought it fit in, but I guess it has to do with how people hear it. ;) I thought it almost sounded like military music......military, Barracks...you catch my drift? ;) :p

Cullen Heath 12-13-2005 04:50 PM

Ive always liked Slig Barracks a lot! Im listening to zulag 15 right now

Lovo328 12-13-2005 09:47 PM

I like the Executive Office track and the Trials track, but I'm listening to queen right now! :)

But it really depends on my mood. I'll take the soundtrack with me, and I'll listen to slig barracks in a busy grocery store, or bonewerkz at an empty school cafeteria, or Mudomo Vaults while in the back yard, etc. I love game soundtracks. I incorporate them into my everyday life. My favorite game soundtrack that still hasn't been topped even by abe's exoddus is from the game, Descent. But right now Queen is making a Supersonic Man outta me! lol

The hell? Have you never heard any military themed music? :P

Cullen Heath 12-14-2005 04:26 AM

Well it can seem chineese if you listen to it in a way. The drumroll is totaly military, but the "pings" in the do sound kind of chineese.

metroixer 12-14-2005 03:46 PM

Thank you cullen. Yes it's just the "pings" that if youre new to the oddworld series. Can misslead you into thinking the sligs are chinese. Oh and i'm listening to glukkon office right now.

Leto 12-14-2005 03:54 PM

The pings are not intended to be oriental in any way, they resonate with industrialismness.

Lovo328 12-14-2005 08:14 PM

I don't think it's the pings he's getting at, it's the notes the pings are playing. It just reminds him of that... but that's not as funny as someone saying (I forgot who) Zulag 15 sounds like garbage cans! LOL

Cullen Heath 12-14-2005 08:21 PM

Though that was not me, they kind of in a way.......do.
Kind of.

And metroixer, what did yiu mean by "new to the Oddworld series" ?
Im not new to the Oddworld series!

Havoc 12-14-2005 08:38 PM

They never reminded me of anything chinese. Only to military stuff. The pings are more reminding me to the industrial side of stuff, rather then a culture.

Cullen Heath 12-14-2005 08:41 PM

Kind of like a Mudokon chizzling away, or just sound of metal crates and all sorts of stuff? Yeh kind of for me, but also chineese.

Lovo328 12-15-2005 07:03 AM

It's Chineese! It's military! It's Chineese! It's military! It's Chineese! It's military! It's Chineese! It's military! I can settle this! (Man, am I a genius!) IT'S CHIMILITARIEESE!

The music could actually be a sombination of the two. China is known for being a iron fist country with a strong military at that. So they could be associating Sligs with the Chinese military.

Im not new to the Oddworld series!

Lets say your first Oddworld game was AE. You know NOTHING about the series....See where i'm getting at?

used:) 12-15-2005 12:26 PM

That isn't completely true Met. I have only played AO and AE and yet I know most things about the oddworld universe and such.

Cullen Heath 12-15-2005 02:24 PM

Yeah metroixer, I get ya now.

Used! You have never played Munch's Oddysee or Stranger's Wrath?!!

used:) 12-15-2005 03:08 PM

I have played MO, but I have not played SW. I just haven't gotten far in MO. I was at a friends' house at the time.

Hmm.....great point. I honestly didn't think about that. That could very well be true. ;)

used:) 12-15-2005 03:48 PM

Whats also coincidental about he tow nations is that China is heavely polluted, as the magog cartel nation is as well.

i haven't played MO but i played a little SW at a videogame store once, its highly likely that events and other things in oddworld are related to earth

Nate 12-15-2005 07:40 PM

*bites down bitter sarcasm*

I think you're reading way too much into it. I can see why you think it sounds Chinese but I think it's just a coincidence. If OWI wanted us to make that connection it would be more obvious than a vague hint in the music; at least we would have some visual cues as well.

Leto 12-15-2005 08:22 PM

Along with the discovery of the oriental musical inspiration of the sligs, OWI had this to say:

:

When we were posed with the question, "Is the Slig Barracks music Chinese in any way?", we said simply: Yes! Yes it is. In fact, for the first time, we shall release the initial concept for the slig, never seen before:

Lovo328 12-15-2005 08:46 PM

HAHAHAHA!!!!

Actually I think sligs are from Brooklyn. Haven't you ever hear them talk on the news briefs in Abe's Exoddus? They're New Yorkers!

Salamander 12-16-2005 06:53 PM

that doesn't auctually make them NYers, could just be the voice actors.....

Nate 12-16-2005 07:37 PM

God save us from literal minded people...

Cullen Heath 12-16-2005 09:32 PM

I dont think they sound like New Yorkers.

Lovo328 12-16-2005 10:56 PM

You said it nate.

Ok, can we talk about something else? Like... ok I have something...

You know what the Mudomo Vault song sounds like? It reminds me of what could be the background tune to a kitten that escaped the house and is out in a big new world and a big exciting adventure awaits him! I dunno! It's just the start of that song makes me think of that.

Havoc 12-17-2005 01:17 AM

Well, Lorne always did the Sligs voice acting himself. So if he's from NY, that would explain it. But since I don't think thats it, I just think it's the scrambling of the voices (digitaly editing it to make it actualy sound like a slig) that gives it a bit of a NY accent.

used:) 12-17-2005 06:26 AM

He doesn't sound like he's from that area. At least not how he sounded on this interview disc thing that came with my AO guide.

I don't think it's the voices thats the most important thing in oddworld symbolism. Rather the little things, such as how glukkons appear to have no arms, how a flying slig looks like he's jacking off in Super Munch's picture (that one is probably just for humor though) all sorts of little things must be taken into account.

odd chick 12-19-2005 04:53 PM

You know, Lovo, I thought the same thing about that Slig Announcer on Magog on the March! But that's just me. As for the whole kitten escaping into the big world thing with the Mudomo Vault music......can we say Oliver and Company?! Anyway, the Mudomo Vault music never really reminded me of that. In fact, I'm not sure what it reminded me of.

Vegerich 12-22-2005 02:15 PM

Thx

Mine is Slig Barracks,Fecco Depot and finaly the music of Soul Storm Brewery
Ps:Thx a lot for the Music :D

Lovo328 12-22-2005 10:05 PM

Hey, you're welcome.

I have a question for Ajiellyn. (Two questions actually... how do you phonetically SAY your name), and how is your progress on the other Abe's Exoddus songs?
