Munch's Exoddus?
I have heard rumors that Munch's Exoddus will be coming out on the X-Box 360. Is there any truth to this?
There's nothing official on the matter. There are no likely rumours either.
Though Munch's Exoddus is probably the logical step forwards for a Quintology game, it is unlikely to be done because: -Munch's Oddysee was received very badly (at least by the fans). Another Munch game is likely to have negative connotations. -Munch's Oddysee screwed up the story a lot - much will need to be altered from any original vision, which OWI might not be happy with. -OWI have gravitated towards non-Quintology titles, but ones with more action, in recent years. Most people consider Stranger to be a better game than Munch's Oddysee, and even Lorne prefers it over all others. -Since the release of Munch's Oddysee, many people, both gaming journalists, other developers, fans and general consumers have looked down upon OWI's decision to cast a one legged fish as the main character. If we go back to the Quintology, I'd bet that it would be the 3rd hero's story. However, I think the Quintology will be reserved for film or much more advanced technology coupled with cheapter production costs. Lorne Lanning has given no committment to any of the new consoles yet; it's possible an Oddworld game is released for any of the three. |
No, I think Squeek's Oddysee could be next.
Oooh. Well, I seriously hope that some of the old creatures/characters will be used. It just seems a bit odd to me introducing a game with completely new characters and no familiar ones whatsoever.
If OWI will make another game, it will be either Squeeks Oddeysee or Strangers Wrath 2. If they won't make a game, they will likely make Oddworld: The Movie. The quintoligy in movie format. Now that would be awsome :D.
It would be easy as well, considering that the games take a time of just over two days or so.

One movie for the entire Quintology would be... best not done. |
WHAT do you mean habbittales and fairytales???
They are the future projects of OWF where you you go into a completely different storyline. The Habbitales is basically like Animal Crossing, you exist, you survive, you procreate as a native, industrial, or wild creature. In Fearietales, you play as a ghost or some ind of spirit, I'm not enirely sure what the storyline is there though.
WHAT!?! That doesnt sound like an Oddworld game at all! I really dont like where Oddworld is headin towards right now. I mean these games such as:
Brutal ballad of fangus klot! Fairytales! Hobbittales! ^ ^ ^ Come ON! WHAT THE HELL OH MY GOD :crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::banghead::banghead::banghead::flames::flames::flame s: SERIOUSLY! I mean even Strangers Wrath wasnt ODD enough! |
First of all, it's Fearietales and Habbittales and if you do some research on the forums, they really don't sound all that bad. Habittales is more of a strategy anyway, and if you've heard of Hand of Odd, then that's supposed to be the first installment in the Habbittales.
I've actually been looking forward to hand of Odd, though I wasn't sure if it was still going to be produced since OWI isn't going along with the Quintology anymore.
Do habbittales and fairytales have Abe in them?????????????
Im guessing they dont :( And fangus is on earth?! COME ON |
Fangus was cancelled. And what amkes Oddworld gtames odd isn't Abe, it's the rich and creative storylines, creatures, and characters (besides Abe) they put into them that make the games what they are. Look at Stranger, he was a great character (savor that stupid jumping noise). And OWI has never made a game having an industrial as the protagonist(which would take away the indieism of the plot, but :P).

You are right. It is the creativity(which Lorne has a hell lot of) and time that they put into the games, but it is also Abe that contributes to the ODDness of the games. He is a BIG part too. Think about it, how can an Oddworld game have that Odd feeling without Abe??? I dont think it can.
It can. Stranger's Wrath did.
Not really for me.
It didnt have that GREAT feeling that you get when you are watching one of the movies or even when just playing it. |
Stranger's Wrath had a lot of atmosphere. It was different that the first two, granted, but it still felt Odd and good. To me, at least.

Fangus got canceled indefinatly. I doubt Lorne will bring it back.
As for the Odd feeling. The athmospheer in the games has a lot to do with it, but the quintoligy games had a totaly diffrent athmopsheer then Strangers Wrath did. Probably becouse it's set in a totaly diffrent enviorment. Afterall, heavy machinery, factories, security guards and money hungry bosses with no arms have a totaly diffrent feeling then a cowboy who no-one knows, carrying a deep secret with him and eventualy turning around and accepting his fate. While writing that, btw, I got an even better reason for the two being so diffrent. In the quintoligy games the focus was more on the story, bosses tearing slaves apart in meatgrinders for money, selling brew, digging up bones. The focus was on the story line, not on the individual characters. With Stranger, the game evolved around HIM. It coverd his lifestyle, with his secret. That was what the entire game was about. I think that made the diffrence in athmospheer right there. |
Actually, Glukkons DO have arms. They walk with 'em :-p
You know what I mean... <.<
Actually, no, I don't.
There arms are used as legs and their legs are useless so they effectively have no arms. Or, to put it another way, they are incapable of doing anything that would require arms.
actually I'm afraid the FEARIETALES and the HABITALES projects are canceled guys...
Are you sure about that Xav?
I wouldn't see the point of going straight to Squeek's Oddysee to become a game if there is no Munch's Exoddus, ME ties with the whole Quintology. :
To me, the Quntology games are much more than telling stories, the gameplay is something els. Lorne as a game designer has got great uniqu ideas and concepts, the actual gameply itself (especally the quintology) had good humour in my opinion, it had thinking invovled. I'm also pleased with the SW gameplay, it still has that quirky gameplay and alot of fun. Anyway, going a bit out off topic. I did wish ME would be made into a game, becuase when first I heard about MO, it was like my favourte game, but ended up with unexpected results. MO did sound like alot of fun in the old interviews, I even wanted a remake MO. Lorne had good ideas gameplay wise, prehaps it may not work with other things tied with it, I don't know. It's a risky business me thinks, doing innovative games, especally as it becomes more expensive to make By the look of the Art book, you could almost see the setting of ME, and imagen what it could of invovled. Swamp enivroments makes me think about the original habitats of the Glukkons and Sligs. |
If Habittales and Faerietales are cancelled, that's a pity. I had been looknig forward to HOO. And as for Mucnh's Exoddus, I don't thnik it'd ever come out unless they went back and redid MO the way Lorne originally planned, either through an Xbox 360 game or through a digital movie. If they did that I'd be confident in a ME game, but unless they redid Oddysee, there probably won't be a Mucnh's Exoddus, as I doubt Lanning would want to completely change the storyline again to get it in. Plus he's cancelled the OWI game studio, so it'd take a lot of things for them to restart making gamnes. Also, off-topic, I must be the only person on this board who has never played Stranger's Wrath. I know a bit of the story, but I've never played it. :o
Actually, I haven't played it either. I want to, but I'm usually broke, so I'm incapable of doing so.
I'm not saying Hand of Odd is canceled, just the two concepts are not anymore concidered as series
anyway anything about the next games are now pure speculation... |
Well, it's always possible the two concepts could re-emerge as time goes by. Maybe they'll be nothing called Faeritales: The Haunting, or somesuch, but they could use similar ideas without explicitly stating "This is a Faeritales game".
yep that's exactly it :)
Wait! Im confused, im getting the impresion that Fearitales and Hobitales are a part of Hand of Odd? Is this right?
What do you think, Cullen?
As I have said befotre, Hand of Odd is supposed to be the first installment in the Habbitales series. Good god. |
I think we are all going by really old news I mean we don't even know if there will even be any more Oddworld. Heck If we ever see Oddworld again those title will most likely no longer exist and something new would be introduced to us. I am farely convinced that those title are no more and just old concepts that never even made it to the drawing board.
everything that we can say now is just speculation since no one has some real news...
so what's the point ? :p |
Because speculation is interesting and can be fun.
No it's not. It only leads to mindless guessing that isn't based on anything...
Well, it's certainly based on many things.
Of course speculation is interesting - throwing back and forth theories and debating on possibilities/likliness. GOD has survived off it enough times in the past. |
^You betcha.^
But speculation is wearing thin as of late. We need some new info, and soon. Ugh. |
well i too havent played any of the x-box oddworlds.i was dissapoined when i heard about MO because i was hoping that they would give us a resolution about all the captured muddocons shown in the happy end of AE.i do not think we will ever see that.and changing the characters all the time doesnt help with bonding with the games, nor giving a sence of resolution
A resolution about captive Mudokons? Abe was rescuing Mudokons in Munch's Oddysee. Those in AE's good ending weren't in any specific place, they were simply representative of the fact that the Mudokons were far from a free people.
