Munch and Friend
Well, I finally got the pictures of my painted Munch. The painter also wired and LED (light emitting diode) in his crown. Tell me what you think.

Very nice!
*worships* But shouldn't this be in the fan section? |
Well, I tried to append it to the Munch Model post, but it seems to have been archived.
|
Very nice.
|
OH MY GOD YES.
Pzak, you rool the skewl. |
Thanks guys, but the credit goes to Rick Cantu (Painting Demi-God)
BTW - Mods, please move this if it is in the wrong place. |

Very cool drawings!
|
Awesome pics Pzak! Is there more?
|
awesome Pzak!!
you are an awesome artist! oh I allready told you that? well you truely are! |
Wow! That's awsome.
The colouring is neat, and well done to the guy who painted it. The Head port thing pretty cool. And the fuzzle is funny. |
Wowie! Pzak and Rick Cantu, I bow down before you. That is an immense piece of art. I want one permanently strapped to my body.
There's always a place for you work here in GD, Pzak, so don't feel you're out of place. Once again, I'm highly impressed. Go you! |
That is a truely brillinat piece of work. Attention to detail is phenomenal. The whole thing is phenomenal.
|
The color really helps amplify the character displayed in the models. I'ts hard to believe those are static objects. You two are incredible!
|
Wow, those models are perfect! They are superb without a single flaw! *gasp* Great work, Pzak and Rick Cantu-they're beautiful! :)

Great work Pzak! I know so many people have already told you this but you are an artist. Keep up the good work.
|
Talk about hardcore drybrushing! Jolly good work, once again. :) The LED just makes it complete. How is it powered?
|
Hey, thanks everyone *head inflates*.
Super Munch - Actually, most of the work was done with transparent layers using an airbrush. Rick also pioneered some new water color techniques for these paint jobs. Rick has done a step by step build up article of this very paint job and lighting for a leading Modeling magazine which is due out in the beginning of June. I'll keep you posted. Lorne gave me a great quote as well:) Kimon - These are resin (plastic) copies. |
wow! can't wait to read that article.
the painting is truely awesome, sorry I couldn't help you more with Munch's back |
Xavier - No problem. I figure since I got these responses, it was good enough.
"Hey Mike, WOW, these are just wonderful. They blew me away. Our little guy(s) would be thrilled. sher" and "Wow! What an excellent painting job! You guys are blowing me away! Outstanding... and thanks for sending us the images. Lorne" |
sorry... i just cant belive you did that. he looks real. you know, im sure if you got flash and leaned it, you could get a major animation job with art like that. your skill would be spotted instantly.
|
trust me it is a real sculpture!
perhaps one day Pzak could work for owi, in the merch section :p |
i know that. im good at painting on models, but that just takes the piss out of my painting. perhaps, if it isnt too much trouble, he could tell me how he blended the mottled skin texture of munch? i would love to be that good. in fact, put it on ebay and ill buy it.
|
Aquacid - He is real. I have 4 copies sitting on my desk.
Xavier - from you mouth to Lorne's ears. :) BTW, It should make you happy to know that the next OW sculpt will be one you prefered. Next stop, Vykkers Lab. |
yay vykkers. you actually sculpted it aswell? dude, you need to send that to owi NOW. you WILL get a job. and im sure everyone else will back you up aswell.
*edit* i realised you have sent them. sorry for not reading the whole topic |
yeah!!! excellent! my favourite creature will be in awesome 3D soon!
I realy hope you will make them as good as munch |
Aquacid - Lorne and Sherry have one on their desks right now. You can probably see the other sculpts in the Fan section.
Xavier - Yeah, you, Rick, Lorne and my wife want to see a Vykker so, who am I to argue. |
Yay! A vykker! :D I can't wait to see this one :).
|
How long is it going to take? A vyker is a lot of work. More then munch I think.
|
Yes, it will take a while to sculpt and I won't even be able to start until June. But fortunately, there is a lot of good ref. available.
|
Do you still have the munch? You can take some more pics from different angles and post them...
Because I can't imagine it as a rl-model. It's just so realistic... |
|
aww!! munch and the fuzzle look so cute!! i love how his head lights up. i want one!!!:D
Your going to make a vykker? O_O.....I LOVE YOU! lol |
Make a glukkon! that would be cool!
|
wow, I think this is really awesome, munch looks just perfect.
though, the only thing I'd change, is add some glossyness to some parts of them, specially the fuzzle, I think his flesh should look a lot more alive and vulnerable, like living tissue (take the lips for example), that would really take him to the next level. I am irking to see that effin vykerr...are you going to give him a bunch of glass utensils and lenses? @.@ just for kicks, I'm gonna make my wishlist: PARAMITE!! in all poses posible, I love the effin things, an slig(one eyed slig?announcer slig? albino slig? pantless slig? flyin slig? Big bro slig?....oh god I just dont know, make em all XD)...and...Steroid Munch oh, and about Lorne, how exactly did you come to meet him? I really would like to know |
w00w.
At first I didn't want to post here because I thought they where computer animation. You're a genius! |
I knew it would've been either airbrushing or drybrushing... It's all good! Looking foward to how the Vykker turns out... Because of its anatomical incorrectness.
Don't rush yourself... Work at yo' own pace :) |
A vykker will take you very much time a think.
It is one of the most complex creatures of oddworld. |
Well, now that I have the DVD and the "Art of" books, I have much better ref, but a higher standard to work to. The most challanging thing is to figure out how to cut him apart so he can be molded and cast. I have to figure that out for the armature.
caracal - That's a big list. :) As for Lorne, I have never met him, just communicated through email and on the phone once. I was encouraged to contact him by Jarrod Shiftlett, one of the brothers who sculpted all of the characters that were scanned in for AO. |
