HUDless screens?
 

I was looking a bit in the Halo community and came across those wonderfull screens: http://halouvre.sacredicon.com/hudless2.htm

I was wondering if we could do the same with Stranger

there is a tutorial over here: http://halouvre.sacredicon.com/h2hudtutorial.htm
and I know some of you guy found some way to get invisible in the game.

I don't have the material, but I was wondering if someone here could give it a try.

That's a great idea! I don't have photoshop, but reading the tutorial I don't think you really need photoshop. I think I can replace it with an other program.

Um... Stranger doesn't have much of a HUD to begin with. What, like a health bar, and some other bars that pop up every now and then? Why would you want it to be HUDless anyways? Craziness!

Stranger's bars and cross bow can go away, and in 1st person it will look good.

Ok what is this "in person" you mention Oddish? 3rd person? 1st person?

And Mojo, what is this "blind skull" you speak of?

In Halo 2, the developers placed a hidden skull on each level that affects the game in one way or another. The blind skull makes the hud disappear, the key step in the tutorial requires this skull. It will only works with Halo 2.

Oh, hah, I never finished Halo 2. Got too boring for me. In any case, yeah, I suppose we're stuck with the HUD. Oh nooesss!!!111!!!11!

MojoMan, yes that's true... but on the other hand you can make Stranger invisible with activing the invincible code and then be "killed" with something falling on you.

the thing I wanted to point out is that it would be nice to create such big screens of landscapes like those guys did

I do like the idea though. It could be new oddworld fan feature.

Yes, yes indeed. Very much so. Just play Quake 1, you'll get the exact same experience.

People, there isn't even a HUD to begin with. Wow- a health/stamina bar. Sometimes a boss health bar. How the hell would you know when you die?

I was more talking of the crossbow... with it in the middle of your screen you can't do that kind of screens

When your birds have all flown away.

I'd say they were done using a debug tool, such that you could fly around in the game. They were made by an Oddworld Employee :)

Hah, I remember that. I got stuck somewhere due to a bug at the time when I was playing back in May last year and they had to activate that mode. It was quite amusing to watch.

heh, beautifull screens you have there Alcar... yes that's the kind of effect I would have like, but without the flying ability of cource :p

The screens of oddworld can only be beautifull. With Halo there is more action,
My capture card is coming this week. I will try to make some screens, but then again. I can't fly. But perhaps in the mine cart I can get some shots.

*OT* I found away out of the mine carts, the level before you go to the black market, is that glitch already found? I'm bounting outlaws in first person now and is looking cool. The search button is not giving me good results.

Those are beautifull shots, but I can see a glich on the second one.

I was wondering about that. I couldn't remember ever being able to go up so high in the Mongo Wilds.

I never noticed how purdy shadows on water look.

It's not a glitch, you're just able to see the end of the world in the upper, left hand corner.

Gotcha, I thought that was just mist first time I looked at it.

I wish I could do that, it is a beautiful view. I never thought we would ever have the technology to make videogames look so good.

Yup, but there are better places then town. with nicer landscapes. On the bounty of elbooze freely there's a beautifull landscape...

WOW what a intersting thing we should be able to do...

This should be a standard feature in all video games (to be able to move in the world in 1st person and able to turn off the hud ), as there are really amazing visuals that goes into most games and they get lost in the hud or the action most of the time.

SO if any Oddworld Inhabitant people come by this thread make sure you have a option to explore the game in 1st person and able to turn off the hud to the player to look at all the hard work and enjoy all the breathtaking scenarys!!

After all games are to be fun and to be able to explore differnet worlds to our own.

Oh yeah maybe there could be a bonus game where you get a camera and takes pictures of the landsacape.

Ok I am confused, so do you just want HUDless stills? Or do you want to have video? Either way, you can just black out the top and bottom of the screen a la RoosterTeeth with RedvsBlue. See www.redvsblue.com for examples.

I dunnot exactly know what it is (redvsblue) but I don't think it'll work on xbox

The first idea was to get some hi-ress landscapes screens
but anything else can be good too

Is the fly-away thing a standard cheat? 'cos that would be a good one.

I've played other games with that cheat. Some where the only way I finished some levels was to fly around and work out where the heck I had to go (Azurik, cough cough).

I think it's more an isider tool... not a regular cheat, anyway OWI didn't release anything like that

Unless we maybe don't yet know the controller-combination to set it up...
