things that anoy you about stranger

hey what is most anoying thing about stranger the thing that anoys me is the grrrr grrrr noise stranger makes when he jumps

mudling 04-01-2005 03:23 AM

maybe that gun shot thing, i was exploring the eugene gus llevel, i hadn't finished exploring, i had captured every outlaw, and then the gun shots come up and i get pushed into a hole, and not being able to travel back to past towns. otherwise, it is a realy good game!

Xavier 04-01-2005 03:38 AM

the loud repetitive noises anoy me. (jump, hit,...) like with munch.
and that's the only thing :p

ConkerTribe 04-01-2005 04:49 AM

I think the ledge thing where he stood over it was too stubborn. Even when you press forward a whole lot, he doesn't fall, he just stays there and you can get stuck for a second or two, giving baddies a chance to get to you.

I hated the disatisfaction given from not being able to reach heights that looked like could be reached. This was, however, voided by the continuously high up scructures that you could just play around on for hours.

Also.... Hmm... The platforming was a bit sketchy, and there were a few invisible walls to deal with, but overall, it was done very well.

I think that's about it for me. His voice didn't annoy me all that much. I have no problem with his grunts too.

Wil 04-01-2005 04:49 AM

Character design.

It would be pretty tough for an out-of-the-blue gamer to understand a lot of what was going on without reading a lot of supplemental information on the Internet.

Esus 04-01-2005 07:03 AM

The long time and heavy emphasis spent on being a bounty hunter with little to no story.

stingbee 04-01-2005 08:45 AM

there is a lot of things that anoy me about the game espicaly when reloading your ammo in a fight

Xavier 04-01-2005 09:04 AM

yeah, but that's part of the game...
if they don't do it, it would be way to easy.

Angalok 04-01-2005 01:24 PM

Hey Stingbee, I loved Stranger's jumping noises myself, especially "Hoo-Aaa!"

One thing that really annoyed me about Stranger's Wrath was that Mr. Sekto's taunts during the final boss fight were almost inaudible. I listened really closely and could make out, "Like your ancestors before you, you will die by my hand!" That was such a cool line, but it should have been a lot louder so that you could hear it over the laser noises. Also, Mr. Sekto was far too easy a boss after such a long lead-up to the fight. After his battle machine exploded, he should have chased Stranger around with one of those big game hunting rifles.

Xavier 04-01-2005 01:31 PM

true... Sekto himself was to easy to defeat.
I'd love some close combat with that guy

I always thought he said, "Moolah!" lol.

Oddish 04-01-2005 01:55 PM

There one thing I'm glad about, that OWI didn't put the burping and crying in Stranger. Now I don't want see a bad ass character sobing , that would be kinda silly :p

Stranger: "I think you better stay outter way punk *gets slapped* Whaaaa, I'm tellin!"

I thought I heard a hint of a whimper when Sekto's beam hits him but I think he can be forgiven for that..
Hoo-boy I wanted to explore those ruins when he's rowing through that tunnel- Would've been nice to pick up more backstory that I hadn't already seen..
I found the cartoony designs to be quite annoying- the previous games I always felt like it was a truly alien world.

Paco_the_Taco 04-01-2005 11:51 PM

The one thing that bothered me was being unable to unequip armor. He looks a lot cooler without it (except for the last armor).

Alcar 04-01-2005 11:57 PM

I'm always cursing at the screen when I realise that I have to kill an enemy if I wish to pass, I'd like to capture them alive, or if I can't do that, leave them alive as opposed to dead.

Alcar...

Xavier 04-02-2005 01:28 AM

I agree... I realy wish OWI to create a game where you can keep EVERYBODY alive...

stingbee 04-02-2005 01:39 AM

it would be nice if stranger farted like abe wooooooooooooooof

mudling 04-02-2005 01:46 AM

i would like to keep the people alive as well. i would of aslo liked jails in other towns and to be able to bag D caste raider and maybe a faster swim. well, nothings perfect and SW was still a realy good game.

stingbee 04-02-2005 01:49 AM

exactly. who ever came up with live ammo must be a real alien from mars

Wil 04-02-2005 03:26 AM

That'll be Lorne Lanning. We all know he's a vampire, but an alien one?

The shadows that magically project through walls and floors were actually a bit irritating, but they didn't actually spoil anything for me.

Some the important cutscenes I felt could have benefited from being pre-rendered, such as when we first meet the Native Resistence Leader or when Sekto talks to his Gloktigi - stole this idea from someone else. ;)

stingbee 04-02-2005 03:46 AM

I don't trust lanning myself

Chimaera Dragon 04-02-2005 09:35 AM

I wish there was a quickload option and to go back to the towns after the game is done. the jump sounds are not that great either. Sometimes I turn down the volume and play my own music so that I don't hear that grr, grr jump taunts.

Hunk of Steef 04-02-2005 11:06 AM

I thought that the likeness between the outlaws and wolvarks was very annoying. And the fact that the game seemed to get easier instead of harder.

true... it was the biggest bug in the game...
on the other hand it made the game easier, as you could locate the ennemies and live ammo easier.

Hunk of Steef 04-03-2005 10:10 AM

I really dont mind things like the shadows and such.

duveaux 04-03-2005 10:48 AM

I do not think it makes the game easier since you can alse just look on your radar if you wantto know where your enemy is...

stingbee 04-03-2005 11:03 AM

the radar the best part about it was it told you wheather you were hidden or spooted

Xavier 04-03-2005 12:43 PM

yeah that was a nice feature...
most games aren't equipped with that and it's difficult to stay unseen

duveaux 04-03-2005 12:43 PM

Do you really need to be told wheter you are hidden or not? In high grass you are hidden and everywere else you are spotted or safe... :eeek:

??? (10 char.)

stingbee 04-03-2005 12:56 PM

well it did come in handy

the only thing I found stupid about it was the fact that when you are fighting a boss alone eg elboze freely meagly mcgraw sekto fhf it told you that you were spotted well we don't need to know that duh

duveaux 04-03-2005 12:58 PM

Sorry, grubhunter, I tried to img to my hard disk to insert a pic of the design of the radar... Didn't work

*edit* and stingbee, I did never say the radar wasn't handy, I used it a lot...

stingbee 04-03-2005 01:28 PM

sorry but it does come in handy for war

Hunk of Steef 04-03-2005 01:39 PM

The only thing the radar told me was if I was about to battle. (it only appeared when enemies were near.)

stingbee 04-03-2005 01:42 PM

that was so dissapointing and in off topic discution I made a new thread called whats your fav little britain char

Xavier 04-03-2005 02:30 PM

stingbee... please stop making useless posts...
or else I'll have to give you an official warning

Hunk of Steef 04-03-2005 03:32 PM

Who was he talking to?
if it was me sorry.

I totally agree.

He also pm-ed me about the post when I say that someone should ban him.
He maked a real fuss about it :|, he also said he would email the administrator (he said he had done it, but I never got a message from the administrator :P)

Nate 04-03-2005 09:25 PM

Probably because the mods agree with you :D

I'm with you on that one.

I don't like the way that the game stops you from going backwards by making you jump off cliffs or whatever. In Buzzarton I wanted to go back to Gizzard Gulch to buy something that was in that bounty store but they had blown up the bridge.

Also I didn't like the artificial way they blocked movements in the mongo wilds, by just popping up a text box saying 'go back' and repelling you with an invisible wall. It just feels like lazy design, quite frankly. I much preferred the way things worked in Buzzarton and Gizzard Gulch where you had to get access to a locked door before you could continue.

stingbee 04-04-2005 02:41 AM

all right then erwinraaben55 and sorry xavier but I like genral chit chat about odworld stuff and non oddworld stuff
