Which side?

If you had a ticket to go to Oddworld, Which side would you be on? Natives or industriels? I would be a native.

Biggy Bro Slig 03-08-2005 09:14 AM

Natives.
I would bring a baseball bat to beat the hell out of those Bounties and Sligs!
Then I would roast the Gluks on a fire!

Angalok 03-08-2005 09:33 AM

Given that Oddworld is roughly ten times the size of the Earth, the gravity would be ten times as strong, and you'd be instantly crushed upon arrival. Nevertheless, my gurgling puddle would be on the Natives' side.

Oddish 03-08-2005 09:45 AM

If the gravity is stronger than Earths, then the inhabitants of oddworld should be more wrinky than earths creatures, becuase of it pulling your skin downwards, just look at the Vykkers, Sam, ect.

The sides seem both good, I don't know what to decide, but being a native could be more of an interesing side.

tentacle_orgy 03-08-2005 10:21 AM

I would be on the side of the Natives, and maybe even try to learn some stuff from Big Face and the Shamans...

Not neccesarily. The Inhabitants would have developed a 'resistance' to the gravity, therefore would have stronger, more resilient skin.

T-nex 03-08-2005 11:46 AM

I'd like to go to the native side. Then i'd explore their lands, and visit the temples :)

Fuzzles! 03-08-2005 11:54 AM

Natives for sure. What's not to love about them! :)

mudling 03-08-2005 11:10 PM

I say native. i know this is wierd but i can not even hit a clakker. but then again, the natives rely on the industrulists and without them, what would happen to our video games and movies and not to metion the ticket making machines for the way home? ok seriosly, those natives have cool and kind, i am on their side.

Xavier 03-09-2005 02:39 AM

Natives...
I prefer spiritual power over to mechanical weapons
oh yeah and the ideology too :p

Abe16 03-09-2005 06:36 AM

Industrial.
I find glukkons and sligs quite cool.

Fuzzle Guy 03-09-2005 09:03 AM

I wouldn't use the ticket. It would be too precious for me to loose. But then If I did use it, I would go there and get even more precious things like a Slig Corspe or a cool bounty thing that pulls people into a screen and doesn't seem to be heavy :p.
I would be on the natives team, living among the Modokons, not the Clakkers.

Cyber-Slig 03-09-2005 09:33 AM

Industrialists are cooler, but I'm gonna go with Natives, then I would learn the art of possession, and have people do my bidding. Bwuahahahaha!

Nate 03-09-2005 03:50 PM

I'd go native, because they seem to have a better life (at least ones that aren't currently being oppressed). Industrials are always conscious of their position on the foodchain and live in pretty appalling conditions (unless you're a Glockstar) whereas the natives just hang around and chill. I'd love a life of sitting on my arse and doing nothing but meditating all day.

Xavier 03-10-2005 05:51 AM

NDW, muds still have to work to survive you know ;)
at least they have to eat, and thus to grow food

Yeah... the nice warm breeze... I go could go for that... But I would like to abuse the Clakkerz cause its really fun... really really... fun.

Alcar 03-13-2005 01:01 AM

I'm tempted to say Industrialists. After all, I don't have to be evil. I could just live in luxury, by brown-nosing Queen Magaret :p

Alcar...

Abe the legend 03-13-2005 01:49 AM

Natives. I always choose good before evil. And besides, why join the losing side?

Five 03-13-2005 01:56 AM

hard to choose, really. My favourite characters are Sligs, but I'm not sure if I would like them if I would meet them, face to face....I'm not even sure, if I would be able to survive on Oddworld longer than one day, doesn't matter on which side! (being shoot, or chopped by some machine, or eaten by Scrab or Paramite?)
but if I would survive, let's say...one week? I would rather be a native. I don't like big cities, factories, smoke, etc. I like forests, peace and just sitting doing sweet nothings, thinking about how life is pointles but fun anyway. Then one day I would be eaten by some Scrab, because I'm not a quick runner :P

Xavier 03-13-2005 02:04 AM

it's fun you guys think that being a native means doing nothing the whole day...
they still have to work and fight to survive you know.

that's one of the reasons I wouldn't survive on Oddworld for too long :p

Nepharski 03-13-2005 09:16 AM

I'm no nature boy. I'd bulldoze ancient forests and set up monuments to my glory, with a curly fry restaruant on the side...and that's just before lunch. Bwhahaha!

Nah...I'd be industrial, but I'd double cross my fellow goons, help the revolution and such. Me and Alcar could be the, "inside job."

Ultra Slig Man 03-13-2005 07:33 PM

I would be kicking it with the natives, despite the fact that i like sligs the best. I'd rather be gathering wood for a fire as opposed to beating someone for saying "Hi"

Mudokon Princess 03-14-2005 04:45 AM

Natives all the way baby!! Only because they would be friendly *most likely* and i could live in lush forests, grand temples, and whatnot :)

KintoKid 03-14-2005 05:48 AM

I'd do something similar to what Nepharski said. Double agent type thing.

So, act like I'm on the Industrialist side of things, but when they time's right or I have some reason to come out in the open, I'd switch over to the Native side.

And hopefully get an Elum.

Vykker Lady 03-14-2005 06:06 AM

Industrial for me.
Go to Vykkers Labs and have them Vykkers teach me cool sciencey stuff. Then hang out with the Interns and listen to music and what not ¦3

Agent-Sarah 03-14-2005 12:58 PM

I'm pretty much on both sides. But I just steal the industrial weapons and cool gadets and hang around with the villagers.

Not that much, though. I remember a few years back some researchers compared how much work the average person does today to how much we would do if we were living in the wilderness as cavemen and they decided that we do way too much work in modern civilisation. Cavemen only need to work a few hours a week to hunt and scavenge what they need whereas we work 40+ hours a week to get ourselves fruit smoothies and tivo.

Xavier 03-15-2005 08:09 AM

you mean we work more then them??? that's awfull.
but on the other side we are living better then them too I suppose

Nate 03-16-2005 03:53 PM

Depends on what you mean by living better. You may have a great house with swimming pool and the requisite blonde bimbo wife but if you're working a 70 hour week and are so stressed that you have certain *ahem* disfunctions, then you aren't going to enjoy it too much.

Given that Oddworld is roughly ten times the size of the Earth, the gravity would be ten times as strong, and you'd be instantly crushed upon arrival. Nevertheless, my gurgling puddle would be on the Natives' side.

Not really, I mean...if gravity were so great, I dont think it would have such earthling climates, it probably should be a big ball of gases, like jupiter that is 11 times bigger than earth =). So, seeing how awfully similar OW is to earth (I mean, they even have skeletons and muscle like ours) the only realistic assumption would be that it has the same gravity as earth.

That is a pretty weird thing for it's size, but my own personal theory, is that OW's moons are SO numerous and Gigantic, that they counter the planet's natural gravity, and they leave the surface with a gravity similar to earth's.

Our own moon is crucial to our survival, you know? if we didnt have a moon, our planet's axis would be totally ****ed up, and the climates would change so fast, that the extintion rates would be too high for earth creatures (as opposed to water creatures) to appear. The smartest thing on the planet would be something like an octopus.

So, OW's moons not only have to elliminate 9g, but they would also have to orbit in a way that created a balance system stable enough to give OW's axis enough stability to a rate of extintion slow enough for all of it's self-conscious species evolve and remain, and create the night/ day cycle.Pretty slim odds, huh? ;)

Anyway, being realistic, I think that if I were in oddworld, I would be pretty much what I am right now, a khansumer :p.

What would be cool?...huh maybe finding enlightment in being a Mud shaman.....auuum

SligShooter 03-21-2005 06:12 PM

Me????? What do YOU think? Industrial man, I love Sligs, and Dripik. Sligs rock!

The Big Cheese 03-21-2005 07:24 PM

INDUSTRIAL yeah i would like to be in the ranks though not just some slig running around with no pants :p

duveaux 03-23-2005 05:31 AM

Native ofcoure, you can make a slig run around with no pants....:p

stingbee 03-30-2005 11:09 AM

native because you get all the magicall power's like the shrykull

kjjcarpenter 05-07-2005 04:30 AM

Can I chose Wildlife?
Thery are the best cause they got basicaly all of Oddworld

Ajiellyn 05-07-2005 09:22 AM

*falls over, thrashing, drops twenty books and in the middle of it, croaks, "native mudokon".*

Like a lot of others, I love Sligs, and I love trying to give Natives competition. But in the end, hell yes I love quiet lifestyles and the spiritualism. I've spent quite a lot of time researching how birds evolved and how that might tie to Mudokons. But then... where would Oddworld be if there weren't any industrialists to oppose the natives? FreeZE!

(Don't tell my general! *shifty eyes*)

Dancing Steef 05-10-2005 12:57 AM

hmmm hard ta choose... I really LOVE the Steefs very much so... well they're the protectors of the grubbs n' if i had a ticket I would be a Steef who's protecting the Grubb village, i'll stand on the natives side, baby! :D
