Will Stranger be inducted into the Quintology?
So, the Quintology will eventually have five unlikely heroes striking the very heart of the Industrialists' stranglehold on Oddworld, right? We've got Abe and Munch already, I've heard something named Squeek mentioned several times, but the other two area complete mystery. My question is, will the Stranger ever join this group, or will his adventures always be parallel? Perhaps he's just too powerful to help Abe and Munch in the context of their stories; why possess Sligs when you can charge in and fill'em fulla Stingbees? Then again, I suppose Munch could help out by using his sonar to find Fuzzles to load into the crossbow!
|
hmmm I'm afraid to see them team up. I realy thinkthat they should stay parallel.
the approach is too different to fit in one game I think |
I'm also fearful of some shitty team up. Not that I have anything against team up, but I prefer them as separate entities. I don't mind them hinting at each other though, such as seeing a Sekto Springs Dam Catastrophe minor headline in an issue of the DD.
|
Teaming up would suck, but having mixing the two story lines would definatly not. Maybe Strager can travel to the other side of Oddworld where the story of Abe is playing, and they run into each other for some reason and find out they are (for that moment) after the same purpose, maybe some other life treatning thing stranger has :P.
That might end up in not a team work, but still being after the same goal which makes them kinda work together without them knowing... or... eh... *Gets strangeld in his own words* anyway, you get the point. |
they must not come together but OWI could make it more releated like putting useless live ammo hoping around in Abe and Munch games...

Sounds like we need a petition so that OWI can't do it. (if they care about the fans)
|
That... is officialy... the STUPIDEST idea I have heard on this forum in all those years Im a member here...
|
i wouldn't worry about it.
stranger isn't supposed to be part of the Quintology. |
It would be cool to maybe see a clip of Stranger Action in a News story or something
The Slig newscaster saying "I've got a news job at another station! now to the news, Squeak is a threat, kill him Sheesh, this station sucks when it comes to script Why did I leave M.O.M? oh well... Now, The Steef population is up! thanks to..." *fades out with a pic of Sranger on the t.v* i dunno |
I really can't tell, because I haven't played Stranger's Wrath yet, so I don't know much about characters ...but I trust OWI and I'm sure if they will decide to team up Abe, Munch and Stranger, they will do a good job on it, ehe *nods*
|
It would be kind of, sad to see them all team up because I like having them as parallel stories which is due to the fact that they are on different sides of oddworld.
|
Staranger, Munch and Abe... stuppidest thing i was heard.
|
I can't see it happening. Mainly because OWI have already said that Stranger isn't part of the Quintology.
I think that the characters [and basic stories] in the Quintology have already been planned, as it wouldn't have even be called a Quintology if they hadn't thought ahead in that area. If that is the case, then bringing Stranger into the Quintology wouldn't make sense. They may make a sequel to Stranger, but it will still remain a separate game. Plus, although the game takes place on Mudos, it is set in a whole different region to that of the Abe games. Knowing how large Mudos is, the location could "possibly" be quite a distance away. Abe Babe... |
Also, Stranger doesn't seem the sort to team up with anyone.
But I think the heros will have an indirect effect on each other's stories. After all, Munch needs to head off to Ma'Spa which is rumoured to be the source of the Mongo river. |
eep, accidental double post.
|
Um, Nate dog woof? i think something went wrong with your post... And Stranger isn't the one to team up, If Abe asked astranger to join , I think he'd say along the lines of, "I work...alone." And then run off.
|
I want Munch to travel to Ma'Spa, damnit! OWI, I beg of you, make Munch's Exodus: Quest for Ma'Spa! Just thinking of this makes me soil myself. Is it just me, or is it wet and cold in here?
Stanger+Abe/Munch= Um, no silly. As previously stated, Stranger works alone. No one body, will stand by him (Except a grubb army, perhaps...). |
For the record; Stranger's Wrath takes place on Western Mudos while Munch and Abe have taken place on Eastern Mudos. Stranger's Wrath is not "on the other side of Oddworld" as many have stated.
As for the topic. I agree that Stranger should remain a bonus character in Oddworld. I love that Oddworld Inhabitants are making bonus games - that way we can learn more about the events in Oddworld outside of the Quintology. I hope they have as many bonus games as possible so long as I live to complete the Quintology. ^_~ What excited me, was to see how small Mudos is in contrast to the entire planet of Oddworld. I can't wait to see what Lorne has in store for us this decade. |
I don't think it is an incredibly stupid idea. And it had to be addressed sometime, sooner or later. While I don't believe it would be a good team up between the very different characters, Oddworld are able to put a spin on just about anything.
As for Ma'Spa, I too would like Munch's Exoddus to continue, and see Munch travelling their. Who knows, perhaps Sekto Dam was originally part of the Munch's Exoddus initial storyline, but adapted for Stranger? Afterall, Ma'Spa has significance for both Abe / Munch and Stranger (in relation to the River Mongo's source). Alcar... |
I hope the games continue in this order: Stranger's Wrath 2 (or whatever the title may be), Munch's Exoddus, then Squeek's Oddysey.
As for them teaming up, maybe Abe and Munch could go off searching to destory some industry and when they get there they find that some guy (Stranger) has already destroyed it. |
:
Would agree Abe & Munch don`t have much in common with Stranger, but i could see A& M having an encounter with Steefs in some future adventure. i am with Alcar on this one. The folks at OWI are mighty damn creative, they could wrap all this up in a nice little package, acceptable by casual players and diehards alike. Look at the numbers; some 2800+ members here, 28000+ units sold( does not count world wide distribution), so unless every one here picked up 10 copies, i would say a shit load of casual players are putting Stranger through his paces. Granted, Abe and Stranger together would be mixing metaphors, but if OWI thinks it will sell, my money sez it will happen. :fuzwink: |

I dont believe that they would join Abe and Munch up with Stranger simply because the quintology, from what i can tell, is meant to be made up of weak heroes that would seem outmatched and outdone, thus the story reveals that against all odds the weaklings pull through and succeed, pretty much a moral story with a lot of odd creatures and places.
The little guys do have a chance. |
Well, since stranger has joined sides with the grubs, he is becoming more native and descovering his true self. So he might become part of the quintoligy, but that is'nt saying he will join abe and much.
|
I am not sure if Stranger, Abe, and Munch will ever meat up per se, but I can see cross over elements. Maybe the Grubbz will make an appearence in one of the future Quintology games. They seem to be more along the lines of the Quintology heros. I would also be ok with allusions to each other in the games.
|
Oddworld: Stranger's [sequel]
Oddworld: Munch's Exoddus Oddworld: Squeek's Oddysee I also agree and hope this is the next lineup. Damn, it's going to be an ODD decade. I'm excited. |
Did you forget Hand of Odd? That may be made into a game...
|
:
The plot thickens, eh? |
five unlikely heroes..... Abe was a slave, and Munch was a pathetic creature trying to make a living. Pretty unlikely if you ask me.
Badass bounty hunter who shoots little critters out of his crossbow. Kinda obvious. Final Verdict: Stranger is an "expected" hero, while Abe and Munch are not. |
Areed! That sums it up nicely.
