i don't really know how to itemize them into thumbnails, as the vbCode didn't tell me how and i'm sorry if this has been posted.

but back to the topic, post anything relevant to the topic at hand: pictures of your tattoos[with some tact], tattoo drawings, or just talk about your ideas.

anything related, such as thoughts on tattooing, scarification, or the like is also welcome.

I have two tattoos; one on my stomach & one on my back.

The one on my stomach is red&black nautical star, done last June.

The one on my back is a design by my boyfriend, its pretty big & its my favourite tattoo of the two..

I really don't understand why so many people want tattoos. A bunch of my friends are getting tattoos the day they turn 18. I don't know if its crossed their minds, but they're going to have them until the day they die. they will probably end up regreting it when they're older. I don't know about anybody else, but I'd get sick of seeing the same drawing on my skin every day for the rest of my life, but that's just me. Shinjara, will you still like the tattoo if your boyfriend breaks up with you?

Yes, I will. I love the design of it in general, not the fact that my boyfriend designed it for me.

I had my first tattoo done when I was 16, and I had thought alot about it and what I'd have done. Although, I'll admit it is painful to have one done, its quite addictive. Some people who reckon they'll get one done at 18 won't due to horror stories (mainly about how painful it is, imagine a needle being dragged through your skin) or they can't decide what to get. But I dunno.

In my opinion, the healing of the tattoo is the worst part. I couldn't bend over for either of them and i had to work with children the day after I had the one on my back done :D No pain, no gain I suppose.

Jacob 02-20-2005 10:45 AM

I want a tattoo, but i merely want it for the experience of getting it. I have an obsession for experiencing new things, and want to experience as much as possible, just so if i ever have kids i can say "Oh, well when i was your age i [insert random experience here]".

Also, if i ever get a tatto it'll just be a prettyful black pattern, no pictures. 'cos pictures fade and colours phase out and you have to get them re-done et al.

Havoc 02-20-2005 10:49 AM

Hehe, Tatoo's can be pretty fun to have, if only its to show off on the beach :P.
I was thinking of designing one myself for a tatoo on my arm. Just a small image of a tiger or something :).

I'm getting that tattooed across my stomach in a week.

Not the black surrounding it, mind you.

I've got some minor scarification and three professionally done brands. I also have plans for a full body suit, but I refuse to reveal the design until I atleast get started.

Gravity 02-20-2005 10:52 AM

I've been drawing up designs for my own tattoo, but I do not know what I am going to get, nor do I know when.

Black fades to green.

Shinjara 02-20-2005 11:03 AM

DI, I'd like to see pics of that design when it's finished, looks awesome. How long do you reckon it'll take?

Havoc, a tiger would be very fitting for you :)

I'm taking a break from tattoos for now, until I get some more inspiration at least.

Aw just a little :P

Alpha 02-20-2005 11:29 AM

I'd say on the back a tiger would look cool. Plus you'd have a reason to take your top off
around women.

Hey, nice one. But what 'bout that red? Will it still be red after some years?

cherie 02-20-2005 02:25 PM

i also wanted to get the irken insignia ( from invader zim in case you don't know, a cartoon show) on my shoulder. and if i had the money and wasn't such a wuss i'd have wings tatooed onto my back.

For a while I had the idea to take this huge tatoo of an anthro tiger on either my complete back or my complete chest. But when I snapped out of that idea I thought that be both extremely painfull and maybe a little to big for my liking afterall :P.
But If I ever take a tatoo its deffinatly going to be tiger related after my own design :D

@Smerles: If an image is still clear after a lot of years depends on a lot of factors. Ammount of ink used, kind of needle used, kind of ink used, the way you treat your skin (using cremes, getting a tan, ect.). All that stuff determains if a tatoo wades fast or slow.

Jacob 02-20-2005 04:21 PM

'Black fades to green.'

A rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreally dark grey then.

Disgruntled Intern 02-20-2005 04:32 PM

Touch-ups are required no matter what color you choose.

thatbluebastard 02-20-2005 04:52 PM

word.

i thought maybe someone here would have a paramite or scrab tattoo. those are pretty sweet designs.

Havoc 02-20-2005 05:34 PM

Check this out:

http://www.oddworld.com/alf/ow_skin.shtml

All oddworld related tatoo's send to OWI :). There are some pretty cool ones.

thatbluebastard 02-20-2005 05:37 PM

those sleeves are pretty sexy.

yeah, but i was talking about the rock art in Abe's Oddysee and Exoddus and the tattoos Abe gets after passing Scrabania and Paramonia.

Havoc 02-20-2005 05:44 PM

There is one scrab design, and a while ago there was a guy in the spotlight which had those same tatoo's on the back of his hand just like abe :P

Excuse my ignorance but what is a brand? Are we talking red-hot pokers here?

I'd never get a tattoo myself because I know I'm an impulsive person. I'd choose a design and like it for a month and then be totally sick of it after that. Just like with the various piercings I've had - I never kept any of them for more than a year.

Disgruntled Intern 02-20-2005 06:54 PM

Most modern brandings, like mine, are done with a high grade cautery pen.

thatbluebastard 02-20-2005 06:57 PM

which is, in essence, a red-hot poker.

TheRaisin 02-20-2005 09:01 PM

Hmm. You find this attractive, do you?

Tattoos are interesting, I just can't see myself getting one. I can't think of anything so cool that I would want it on my skin for the rest of my life. And there's the whole skin cancer risk if you do laser removal. I don't know how risky it is, but they say the chance is there.

Some people get pretty freaky with them, too. Like the guy on Ripley's Believe It or Not who got a full body tat that made him look like a tiger. And then he got the whiskers surgically implanted in his face. Stuff like that is just plain weird. Hmm, hey Havoc, are you sure you've never gotten any tattoos? :p

Disgruntled Intern 02-20-2005 09:08 PM

Full body transformations are becoming more and more common these days.

There's The Lizardman, The Enigma and Katzen, and of course, The Stalking Cat [or cat man].

There are oodles more, but these are some of the more well known members of the body modification community.

Leto 02-20-2005 10:23 PM

I wish for Abes hand tattoos. they r sew uber c0olnis lol lol. But wouldn't tattoos on your hand hurt the most? Due to lack of muscle? Or am I most probably just misinformed?

thatbluebastard 02-21-2005 12:18 AM

supposedly, anything that's on a part of the body with not much tissue or muscle between it and the bones hurts a lot[such as ankles or wrists] but i've heard personally that chest and belly are the most painful.

oh well.

Jacob 02-21-2005 04:12 AM

I'll probably have mine up my arm, and have a prettyful spirally, unoriginal, tribal thing going around it.

I may also design my own, if i can find/buy some motivation.

Havoc 02-21-2005 05:05 AM

That tiger body transformation is pretty cool :P Nothing I would ever do, but still :P.

Nate 02-21-2005 05:44 PM

I heard that you're not allowed to tattoo your hand in most western countries 'cos they're lots of blood vessels going through there.

Strictly speaking I think that they are closer to brands anyway. Scars caused by pseudo-mystical sparks at the very least.

Disgruntled Intern 02-21-2005 06:11 PM

Hand tattooing isn't illegal anywhere.

It may be a some sort of social taboo in some sort of backwater culture, but it's certainly not illegal.

thatbluebastard 02-21-2005 11:47 PM

yeah dude, my girlfriend has two on her wrist, which is where it would be illegal[if it was, which it is not].

i don't know how they do things in australia, but in america, we're all about rock and roll.

hand tattoos, stage dives, getting down with groupies, and shit.

Lol. Australia is cool. They have hats with corks. And Marsupials!

I'll never get a tattoo. I don't want one. I also don't want piercings. I like to keep my body in it's original state.

thatbluebastard 02-22-2005 11:14 AM

i was just kidding.

i know some fine Australians.

but seriously, what the hell is up with Australia?

TheRaisin 02-22-2005 12:16 PM

They're the only nation that's also a continent? They've got the largest rock formation in the world? They're the only place in the world where you can find wild kangaroos, wallabies, and other such marsupials? They're home to the only two species of mammals in existence known to lay eggs? That's a fraction of what's up with Australia.

Its more like dis-adviced since youl have a lot more trouble finding a decent office or other high ranked job with tatoo's on visible places. Its not illigal, but somewhat banned from bussiness live.

Yeah, I know. I'm a pedant. Deal wif it. Plus I have a love affair with Australia, though I've never been there. It's a long-distance relationship, but it works.

Where'd you get that pronunciation? I think it's missing a syllable.

Those Maori tattoos are absolutely the coolest things I've ever seen. They're all buh-BLAOW! I'm not sure how they're done traditionally, but if it's anything like the traditional Hawaiian way of tattooing, they use a reed sharpened to a needle point and dipped in ink, and they do a sort of quick succession of sharp taps using a mallet type of thing (think chiseling, sort of) to drive it into the skin. And that's really cool, eh? I saw some documentary showing how its done and I was simultaneously going "Ouch" out of empathy and "I want one!" because of the sheer coolness.

thatbluebastard 02-22-2005 01:58 PM

Maori tattoos are ridiculous, though.

if you can sit through that, you've earned the tattoo.

and i'm a fan of the Australia, as well.

hooray quanza or whatever.
