dying

how would you like to die?
I personally wouldn't like to die but which way would suit you?

I'd prefer gun to the head for the fact that it would be quick and painless

Oddish 01-08-2005 02:42 PM

I chosenot going to die, I'm invincible. Freezing could make you make you live, for thosands of years. :p

Abeguy 01-08-2005 02:48 PM

Ahh, I see your point

TheRaisin 01-08-2005 03:04 PM

I planned out my death.

I'm going to be the captain of a ginormous hydrogen-filled war zeppelin (a bit anacronistic, but bear with me) in the midst of a tremendous air and sea battle on a coast bordered by a tremendous mountain range. I will be hovering over the mountains providing suppressing fire whilst my comrades deal fiery death to their opponents. Suddenly, fire from my left flank! One of my allies' fighter planes goes down! I pan the exterior cameras and behold!-- they have heavy artillery placed inconspicuously in a mountain valley. I turn and prepare to engage, but they've already spotted us. It takes them some time to switch targets and rotate, but once they do they take out one of our cannons! We speed towards them, weapons blazing, taking out much of their firepower but knowing full well that we will never be able to get them all before they blast us to hell. The altitude alert blares, but I ignore it. I watch a hundred different video screens, all showing live feeds from various external cameras on a hundred different allied vehicles, as my zeppelin crashes into the mountainside, igniting in a glorious blazing fireball of hydrogen, instantly destroying the enemy weapons and momentarily drawing the attention of the enemy. I, of course, will be torched in a matter of seconds as the flame reaches the cockpit, but my allies will fight on to win a glorious victory, and I will be posthumously awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor.

So death by fire. It's funny because I don't even approve of war. But my fantasy death doesn't have to make sense. That's exactly how I want to die in my fantasy world.

But realistically I want to die of old age in peace and without pain surrounded by my family. I'm surprised you didn't include old age in the list.

Cryogenic freezing is not yet a possibility. If it does exist in your lifetime, it'll probably be when you're middle-aged or old and it'll be like "What's the point?".

Mudokon Princess 01-08-2005 03:07 PM

i chose burning

muhahahahaaha!!!!

T-nex 01-08-2005 03:14 PM

I wanna fall of a building, so i finally can feel how it is to fly.

munchou 01-08-2005 03:25 PM

Boap, no prob, I can't die :) .
If only...

Actually I'd like to die of old age, maybe when I am around 150 or 170.
But it's just a dream. Tomorrow I will probably be dead, or next month, or in 20 years.
Who knows ? Not me, but one thing is sure : I will never commit suicide. ;)

Happy life ! ! ! :D

I won't die!!! I'm invincible!!! :D Anyway, to be more serious I would also rather die of old age. At least it may not hurt as bad as some of the other ways. I would hate to drown or burn up-just thinking about that possibility scares me to death!

T-nex 01-08-2005 03:39 PM

I don't think that it hurts falling of a tall building. You just go *plop* and yer dead...

odd chick 01-08-2005 03:44 PM

Yeah, I don't think that you would even feel the impact of falling from a tall building. I saw the craziest and most terrible thing on tv a while back. A guy jumped out of an airplane and was supposed to parachute underneath a bridge, but he came too close to the bridge and smacked into it head on and literally exploded on impact! It was pretty gruesome! I would just hate to die like that!!

T-nex 01-08-2005 03:45 PM

:S.... Sounds horrible....

the brew master 01-08-2005 04:08 PM

I'd probably be killed in a stampede of gay pigs, dont tell me you didint see that coming...

Leto 01-08-2005 05:17 PM

Slit wrists. Ho ya. Not on the list, but hey. Otherwise, falling from a building, as people before me said, to simulate flying/ zero gravity.

TheRaisin 01-08-2005 05:35 PM

Heh heh. I don't think falling would simulate zero gravity. I think you would feel the effects of gravity very, very strongly.

The best way to simulate zero gravity is to ride one of those rides at the fair where you go up really fast then down really fast but for a few seconds at the very top you just kind of feel like you're floating away.

Old age, I think, would be the best way to die. I would have chosen it had it been an option.

a flock of seagulls 01-08-2005 05:40 PM

and it'll be like "What's the point?".

whats the point? freeze yourself till they havev a de-agerifier gun! and then freeze yourself again to when they have a cure for viagra!

(NOTE: some sarcasm included)
EDIT: you just proved yourself wrong, up very fast , then down very fast. basically falling.

Oddly Insane 01-08-2005 05:44 PM

I saw a show that this guy almost died having "it"

Leto 01-08-2005 06:27 PM

By "it", I'm sure your indicating toward the rude word 'ham sandwich', where then I assume you are speaking of the mighty Elvis.
OK, rephrase my previous post, I would like to die from falling from a great height to simulate heavy gravity. You know, just for fun :P

SeaRex 01-08-2005 06:42 PM

The best way to die is to die without realizing it; as in, one minute your just doing whatever, the next minute you're dead.

At one time I would have said crucifixion. That was, of course, before I understood the full, agonizing pain one receives while being crucified (as in the severe muscle deterioration, suffocation, etc).

But if I were to do some heroic shit, it would definitely involve some sort of war machines and heavy artillery.

Languor 01-08-2005 08:50 PM

I'd also like to die of old age rather than anything. Unless the cause was cancer, or some terminal illness. I'd just like to be sleeping then have my heart stop beating or something. That would be the best way to go in my opinion.

Godlesswanderer 01-08-2005 09:51 PM

It depends how you land. If you happen to land feet first, you would feel your legs breaking and your shins going up into your body. Although it would be over in a split second, I bet it would be very painful.

Anyway, my way to die would be freezing. I heard on a documentary that when you freeze to death, you feel more and more tired. When you eventually fall asleep, your mind creates your idea of the perfect dream. You then have this dream (believing that it's totally real) until you die. Although freezing to death would be very painful, your brain shuts this pain off and completely focuses on the dream being as real as possible.

Rich 01-09-2005 12:34 AM

Voted Invincible. Because when I die from an abusive rock and roll lifestyle, my legacy will be invincible.

Otherwise, tall building or sudden death (as SeaRex said).

Facsimile 01-09-2005 01:35 AM

I chose gunshot, as one shot to the head is quick and painless. Well, except for that instance of a second where it would be insanely painful, but you know.
But I have this massive feeling. I'm talking a really strong feeling that I'm only going to be around a few more years...
I'm hoping it's just paranoia.

Hobo 01-09-2005 01:59 AM

Falling from a building, that or strangulation. Self strangulation doesn't work though:(

Fuzzle Guy 01-09-2005 02:16 AM

Personally, I'd rather die of natrual causes, but tat isn't one of the list, so technically, this thread is how would you want to be killed.

But there is this really big hill three miles from my house, and I've always wondered what it would be like to dive off it:

http://www.dur.ac.uk/react.res/RRG_w...dda%20head.jpg

But since theres no option of that, jumping of a really tall building

Super moose 01-09-2005 02:22 AM

Jumping from a tall building with a skateboard, making 360 vairal MCtwist bajo. :D

Fuzzle Guy 01-09-2005 02:49 AM

Yeah, I forgot to mention I'd be doing backflips and everything whiles jumping off it. it would be cool until you hit the bottom.

Leeum 01-09-2005 06:01 AM

Gun shot, quick, painless, you die before you hear the bang.

Godlesswanderer 01-09-2005 07:25 AM

Actually, like facsimile said, it wouldn't be painless. It would be insanely painful for a split second. You would hear the bang too.

Abeguy 01-09-2005 07:54 AM

Yay, death sucks

I haven't voted yet though it's weird cause I made the thing

I'll vote now

Al the Glukkon 01-09-2005 08:52 AM

Freeze to death.

TheRaisin 01-09-2005 10:42 AM

AFOS, the point is it's not falling that simulates zero gravity. It's the second or two before you fall. But since diving off a tall building does not incorporate any upwards motion worth mentioning, it's a moot point. If you dive off a tall building, you do not feel weightless.

Happiness is a warm gun, bang bang shoot shoot.

If I crashed a hydrogen-filled zeppelin into a mountainside, do you think I would burn to death? Or would my spine break upon impact?

Rich 01-09-2005 12:24 PM

:

I'm guessing you'd burn. As the fire would reach the cockpit (filthy word if you think about it :p) with the explosion before the cockpit reached the cliff-face.

Nate 01-09-2005 02:08 PM

I'd rather die in my sleep, like my grandfather, than screaming and panicing, like his passengers.

Just kidding, though I agree with the sentiment.

I don't really understand the people who have said gunshot to the head. I mean, unless you're talking suicide then I'd rather not be in a situation where I'm likely to be shot. The fear would be worse than any possible pain.

AquaticAmbi 01-09-2005 05:31 PM

Ugh... I don't like any of these choices... But I really hope I die all old, happy, and ready to go. I refuse to die in a hospital, so I hope it's all cozy at home surrounded by what's left of my life. I'd be super pissed (well, not really because I'd be dead) if I died instantly while I'm young without seeing what was coming. On the other hand, I wouldn't want my last moments to be sheer panic and fright.

If I do die young, I hope it's something that isn't too tragic, and maybe something that could even be found a little humorous if possible, like one time I was talking to some friend before I was fixing to go have my wisdom teeth out. I expressed fear of dying from some weird complication or something, and he made some sort of joke about it. Then I replied, "You'd be so sad if that happened, and you'd feel horrible for joking about it!" A few minutes later I realized it'd be sort of funny and ironic if it did happen, so I told him not to feel bad if it did and to try to find some humor in it. :talk:

TheRaisin 01-09-2005 07:04 PM

Heh heh, I like that.

What would be really funny would be to custom-fit your death to your career or lifestyle. For instance, become a world-famous Olympic swimmer and drown in the bathtub. Or be an arsonist and die by leaving the stove on and burning down the house. Et cetera.

I like the way The Royal Tenenbaums ends. The main character dies of a heart attack, and on his grave his epitaph relates some sort of bogus tale about how he died tragically rescuing his wife and children from a destroyed and sinking battleship.

You just killed that joke.

Nate 01-11-2005 12:24 PM

Then my work here is done.

DarkHoodness 01-12-2005 05:54 AM

"Your death is comming. Antcipation after all, is everything."

I don't fear death itself. My life has very little meaning. . . I live only for myself and everything that's close to me. I just fear the suffering that may or may not come with death, be it phyisical or emotional. I even fear the emotional suffering of others as a result of my own death, hence why suicide is never an option for me, no matter the situation. Death itself is. . . Well, too overated in my opinion. Unless you really have done nothing with your life or you have a lot to live for (non-selfishly), then it shouldn't be feared.

I dunno when my time will come, but I just wanna make something of my life before it happens. I have already experianced tons of things in my time, so I wouldn't feel too short-changed if I went now, but there still are plenty of things I haven't done yet that I want to do.
I want my death itself to be quick and painless, and hopefully come at a time when I'll be oblivious to it. And also hopefully at a time where no-one or hardly anyone would miss me. Maybe that's wishful thinking, though. . .

Mojo 01-12-2005 10:21 AM

My preferred way to die is to dive off a building, in complete harmony with my destiny, a.k.a. "the ground". That is the ONLY way to truly experience flying. Sure you can use a chute, but then you'll be "floating" down.

And on the gravity thing, you don't feel the effects of gravity, when you're falling down. The split second you hit the ground, THAT'S when you feel the effects of gravity.

It's not the fall that'll kill ya, it's the impact on the ground that will.

DarkHoodness 01-12-2005 11:19 AM

BTW, speaking of death, what a way to go! :D
