The Infamous Mr. Sekto.
Okay, so if you go to this page on EA's Stranger site, we are introduced to the main baddie of the game, Mr. Sekto. First off, I'd like to say that Mr. Sekto is an awesome name. The guy's a hunter, and apparently he has taxodermied heads on his wall of many diverse creatures. And Stranger's next on his list, hence the picture of his head on the wall.
Mr. Sekto images: http://images.ea.com/eagames/officia...sektoSCR01.jpg And you've seen this. Oldie but a goodie. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ http://images.ea.com/eagames/officia...sektoSCR02.jpg Mr. Sekto's office in a view from the ceiling. You can see his "collection" of heads and possibly the gins he/people he's hired used to kill them. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ http://images.ea.com/eagames/officia...sektoSCR03.jpg His head office? I dunno. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ http://images.ea.com/eagames/officia...sektoSCR04.jpg The two guards seem to be updated versions the creatures in the original Glukkon species concepts. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ http://images.ea.com/eagames/officia...sektoCON01.jpg A concept sketch of Sekto in all his glory. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...tikk/sekto.jpg This is apparently a cleaned-up and colored version of the above sketch. I don't know what makes high-ranking, rich guys in ritzy suits such good villians, but apparently Oddworld Inhabidents has it figured out, and it seems to work just fine. Looks like Molluck has some competition on the bad-ass front.
|
You go to the page, you look at the pictures and you find yourself thinking: So this is what MO was missing. Beautiful sets with fully integrated stories, and solid, thought-through gameplay. I'd really like for a Munch2 game to be made that would incorporate the story elements they had to leave out. But that has almost nothing to do with Sekto.
The head office seems more like the control box for a massive device. There're the two red handles on either side, which makes it seem like possibly a giant robot. Perhaps indicative of the final battle. Or maybe thats just the best place to do his taxes. Sekto. He's pretty cool. |
I could just imagine him wearing the old hunters gear and slowly hunting in a jungle.
Great villain, in my opinion. One of those screens is definately a gameplay screen. or a real time cut-scene. Which kinda suggest that we will actually have to fight him as an end boss; as an end boss is definately in it (according to the review). He'll probably use one of those guns on the wall, or just use his little minions then become an easy catch. Which begs the question, do you think it's possible to either capture Mr. Sekto in your bounty can - or even capture him alive? |
I think it's a Octigi 0.7
|
Mr Sekto is definitely an Oktigi, it says so on the updated official site. He looks like he's going to kick ass as a baddy. Go giant pompous corporate whores!
|
...I dunno about Sekto, I want concept art of these guys.

Hmmm, possibly. Molluck's great evil charm came from his actions and personality. He was always calm, always cool, and always watching. How Mr Sekto plays out remains to be seen, but obviously I'm hoping he'll turn out to be a great character.
Apparently there is a heliport atop Sekto Springs Dam. So, we will perhaps see Oddworld's take on helicopters? Hopefully they're more akin to their take on wagons and blimps than tractors and APCs. |
Wow, this is the first time I've seen Mr.Sekto.
Awesome, this guy look like one of the best villians ever. |
awesome, looks like a mutated glukkon with real arms and legs
sweet |
That's good, I also think Mr. Sekto would be a great villian.
P.S: I think the guards are Gloktigi. |
Well spotted Oddude. The Graphics are poor in the image of the guards though.
|
:
That would be interesting to see. |
I've Done It!
Yes! I've finally figured our what that image of a Steef with Fully grown horns. It wasn't the bad ending, it was Mr. Sektos Office:

Well spotted Fuzzle Guy, But why would he have a Steef Head in there...
|
He's a hunter remember
|
not sure he is a hunter...
we know Octigis are only heads-creatures, parasiting bodies his body could be... a steef??? and the cutted head are on the wall, while the octigi put his own head on the headless Steef body another reason why he wants steefs to be captured |

That seems like an excellent theory, Xav. It would also be pretty cool. But the hands don't seem right to me. Mind you, with those big gloves it could be distorting how many fingers there were. But wouldn't a parasite need the host to be alive? However, if the gloctigi could control the body's functions (heart, lungs, etc) then just removing the head would be a great idea. I'm not sure if that would still be a parasite though. More like a body snatcher.
|
Before the parasite thing in the book, I thought Octigi 0.2 were always 0.1 with the tentacles. Also, I don't know if this has been asked but what happened to the scuba toads?
|
They're not in the final version of the game.
|
I assume the octigi could control the vital functions, it's oddworld :p
|
And what's with the Glocktigi...? I saw two robots, where are the reals...?
|
I think there are real ones, and robot ones... weird
but we don't know the whole story yet |
:
[That dissapoints me, because I thought they looked cool...] |
None given. I was not at all happy with their design. Fat blobs with legs - even less creative than fat chickens in dungarees. One upshot of them not being in the game is that they're not concreted in the Oddworld universe as looking like that; if they appear in the future, they might have a revamped, interesting body construct. They did look to have an interesting culture and history, though, so I'll miss not being able to find out about them, for now.
|
I really liked they way they looked, but that's just me.
:
Those two guards do look like robots. Perhaps its logical that an Octigi would create a robot in his own image. Look at the billions of dollars that Honda is spending on creating a humanoid robot, despite that shape being remarkably inefficient for any robotic work. |
Only just seen the image of Mr. Sekto [thooper name] and yeh, he does look rather thooperlicious!
Where was it said that Octogis are just parasite head things? And how does that actually work out? Those Octogis with Sekto look like natural creatures that are just wearing armour to me. More so with their face trills than anything. I think Sekto just wants the Steef heads for a status symbol more than anything. The more he has, the better he feels about himself and the better he looks to business rivals/prospective investors. |

Ex. His head is himself and his body is some tortured creature that'd be cool |
Yep, that's what I'm saying.
I have it played out in my head. Stranger has defeted Sekto, who falls limply to the floor. His head pulses up and down until the actual Octigi wiggles and writes free. It flops to the ground and tumbles over onto its tenticles like a water balloon (assuming the Octigi is a squishy/boneless critter), and begins to skitter away from Stranger and the host body on its tiny tenticles. Stranger growls under his breath, walks to the quite slow Octigi and squashes it like a bug! (View of his head) He twists his foot on the dead Octigi, smiles, and walks (presumably) to the exit of the dam. MAN, I should write my own scripts! Edit: Oh, wait. Problem. Stranger needs to return Sekto alive to claim what will probably be one mother of a bounty. But you have to admit, I'm good with writing and...stuff. :D |
I'd say that if you kill the host, then the Octigi will attack to take control of you.
|
Those Gloktigis are teensy. Regular ones would be twice the height of Sekto. I'm leaning towards the mechanical argument.
|
I think Mr. Sekto will beat Molluck any day of the week. I mean, Molluck was scrary and stuff, but he had no real...personality (Whereas the Gluks in Exoddus did).
He's also a hunter? Cool. It seems to me that Oddworld needs more villians who actually do other things than stand in their offices, getting infuriated at their inept henchmen. I like all these theories of him being a parasite. I've always wanted a video game villian whose main goal was to cheat death (As opposed to domination, wealth, etc.). If so, then (potentially) his current host is dying, and he needs a new one. Thus, he needs Stranger killed, so he can continue his own selfish immortality. Awesomeness! He looks like he might unseat Aslik as my favorite Oddworld villian. Cheers! |
Molluck might be more inteligent than Sekto.
|
:
Not to mention his Execs. I could pick out maybe one... maybe two sentences (I'm being nice) that I could understand. Sekto had BETTER have something to say, or at least say it in a way we can understand, because I want to win this bet because I NEED THE MONEY dammit. |
Did anyone happen to notice that the guy in the last two pictures isn't Sekto? The eyes are red, the head is shaped differently with no spines, and the suit and skin color are different.
