Why do all the cool people have to die?

Think about. 2004 was littered with the deaths of so many kickass people its damn near unbelievable. Just a list (and this by no means is a complete list)
Reggie White
Ray Charles
Marlon Brando
Jerry Aurbach
Rodney Dangerfield
Dimebag Darrell
Hundreds of soldiers in Iraq
So, why do all these cool people have to die? And why are we still stuck with evil assholes like Bin Laden et. al?
One final question: If you could will 3 non-forums members to die with the power of your mind, who would you kill and why?

TheRaisin 12-29-2004 09:28 AM

Why? Because life sucks, the world sucks, and the only god I see is the Almighty Dollar.

Rodney Dangerfield?! Marlon Brando?! Why was I not informed?! That's a damn shame.

Kill people with my mind, eh? Number one: Osama bin Laden. Number two: uhhmmm that's the only one, really. Saddam's been captured, so not much point there. I'm not a hateful person, by nature. In fact, I only slapped bin Laden on there because you mentioned him and from what I hear he's done some bad stuff. I guess that's all though.

Johnny Cash died. That was pretty big.
Oh, Mr. Rogers too. Y'know, from that kids' show. That sucked.

WiLL the Wander 12-29-2004 10:38 AM

Well: 1: Osama 2: The whole Al-kaida 3: well i dunno.... but if I can kill somebody with my mind i can change them too...

Oddly Insane 12-29-2004 10:52 AM

Necrum Miner 12-29-2004 04:21 PM

If I could kill three people... One, Bin Laden, two, that bloke "Eminem" and three... Erm... Neil Armstrong's still alive, isn't he? If so, I'd kill him as well.

Why on the face of God's grey moon would you want to kill Neil Armstrong?

Volsung 12-29-2004 07:39 PM

1.The Bush administration, or failing that, just cheney.

I think the reasons are both numerous and obvious. Though I doubt just killing all of them would solve the problem, I think I'd feel better afterwords. And not just for aquaticambi's sake, either.

2. Bill O'Reilly

You just can't find a more self-centered egotistical yes-man. And I don't like any of those things.

3. I'm thinking really hard and can't come up with anyone else. I could say Karl Rove or something but...NO. No, if its anyone, its got to be kathleen turner. Most of the really good ones are already dead.

Necrum Miner 12-29-2004 07:43 PM

Why on the face of God's grey moon would you want to kill Neil Armstrong?

For faking his trek to the moon, and so probably throwing the whole of science off course. And most people still believe it... I mean, the flag was blowing in the wind. There is no wind on the moon. When he was climbing out of the ship, he rested his foot on a rung that was about half an inch higher than it should. And the ship moved around the surface a few times (As did the Earth). Not a chance, if you ask me.

Joe the Intern 12-29-2004 08:08 PM

If you watch more footage, you'll also notice the flag not moving. Ever heard of kinetic energy? It moves from Armstrong's hand to the flag. Tadaa. Why would blame Armstrong even if it were fake? It's not like Armstrong was the brain behind the operation. In that case it might be Kennedy, but you'd have already been beaten to that... Or maybe Johnson?

Edit: Volsung, what about Ann Coulter? Sean Hannity? Michael Savage?

Necrum Miner 12-29-2004 08:14 PM

In one photograph I saw, it clearly wasn't kinetic energy moving the flag. "Waves" were being made. And even if you can disprove that peice of evidence, how do you explain the way he was climbing from the ship, and the ship itself and the planet moving?

And I blame Armstrong because he made notes, and made his reports on the 'moon'. These not actually coming from the moon, and therefor can't be ceartain, he mislead a lot of scientists.

Joe the Intern 12-29-2004 08:19 PM

Ship and planet moving? What are you talking about?

The most obvious proof of a moon landing is the enormous amount of material brought back from the moon. You can't fake moon rocks, buddy.

Godlesswanderer 12-29-2004 08:21 PM

There's other reasons that suggest the landings were fake though. For example, the crosshairs on the pictures that the astronauts took, some of the corsshairs are behind the image in the photo when they should always be infront. There's quite a few more things but I've forgotten them. I'll probably remember them later.

:

You can't fake moon rocks, buddy.

But you can fake the results of the tests on the rocks and you can also create fake ones that look realistic enough to look like the real thing. One more thing, who knows that's what moon rocks look like? None of the general public have been up onto the moon to check what they look like.

That first link can be shot out right away, since it's from NASA, who organised the 'landing' to begin with. And asuming no one would've been to the moon before that, how would they know the properties of moon rocks and dust?

About their excuse for the stars not showing up... Rubbish. I could take an old, black and white camera outside right now, take a photograph of the sky, and I'd be able to see the stars. If anything, the stars would appear brighter than regular (Asuming the lens wasn't polarised).

TheRaisin 12-29-2004 09:29 PM

The age of the camera has nothing to do with the stars not showing up. You did read the first link, yes?

Oh, let's trust Fox! They've brought us such brilliant programming as The O'Reilly Factor and Smallpox! What the hell is wrong with people?! Jesus.

And hypothetically, if they didn't really land on the moon and they really did set up this elaborate hoax (for no apparent reason), what the hell would you care? You're never going to the moon, the moon is never going to affect your life, you're probably never going to work for NASA, this affects your life in NO WAY WHATSOEVER.

You've taken the thread completely and thoroughly off-topic and you should be ashamed of yourselves!!!

Whomever mentioned Barney, thank you. I now have a number two for my list. I would not just kill with my mind the actor that plays Barney, I would OBLITERATE the very CONCEPT of Barney the Purple Dinosaur. It's remarkably hard to eradicate an idea, as Bush has proven with his doomed "War on Terror!", but this is a hypothetical situation and I would blast the hell out of the concept of Barney with my full mental nuclear arsenal! Hoo-yeah!

Amazingly, I really don't wish death on Bush. I think he's a horrible person and a God-awful president, but hey, if everyone killed everyone they thought was horrible, there wouldn't be very many people left in the world, now would there? I dunno, I think he dazzled me into submission with that goddamn Air Force flight suit thingy that he wore when he made his "Mission Accomplished!" speech. That thing is slick, boy! It's a damn shame for a President to look so cool, boy howdy I tell ya hwut.

Whoo caffeine!

Facsimile 12-29-2004 11:59 PM

I don't wish death on anyone...
No matter how much I dislike someone, I don't wish death upon them, I wish a life in imprisonment. It's a far greater punishment. But I would never want someone to die...

I know you said no forumites, but an ex-forumite i'm sure would count - in that case Reece Charles/ Death / *gagged*

Jesus when he comes back

Volsung 12-30-2004 07:38 AM

Joe is right. Ann Coulter and Sean hannity must die. Except I'm worried if we kill all the moronic frothing conservatives, you might be left with ones that have the capacity for abstract thought. Hannity and Coulter are just stupid; its the ones who can think but completely disregard the implications of their beliefs that I worry about coming to the fore. Besides, I didn't want to have a list filled only with republicans.

TheRaisin 12-30-2004 11:20 AM

Yeah. To be fair, if I made a list with a bunch of conservatives I would also add some stupid liberals that give the rest of us a bad name. Dan Rather would be in there.

Actually, the reason for the rush to get to the moon was fueled by America's wanting to get back ahead of Russia's space technology. I don't really have an opinion on whether or not we truly landed on the moon. Both sides are arguable, but I don't care enough to pick one.

Fair enough. I don't really wish death to him, anyway. It'd be kind of like wishing death to a retarded monkey. I don't really think he fully understands the consequences of some of his actions. Plus, if someone did assassinate Bush, an uproar would come from all his supporters and more and more people would refuse to accept that he was a horrible President because they'd think it'd be disrespectful of the dead or something. bah, you know what I mean.

Anyway, overall, I would never choose to kill someone if I were granted to power to do it with no consequences, unless that person posed as a direct threat to me or a loved one.

TheRaisin 12-31-2004 10:15 AM

That's a viable reason for actually going to the moon, WHICH THEY DID! But not for setting up a big hoax like these people are saying they did. The only reason I could think of for doing a whole fake moon landing thing is to appear technologically advanced. So actually that's an entirely believable reason. I could so see the U.S. creating a fake moon landing just so they could say "Yeah, that's right, we got to the moon before you guys did!"

Okay so they would have had a motive and the means to do it. They also had a better motive and the means to reach the moon for reals.

Have you ever seen that video of Bush in that classroom on 9/11? The secret service guy whispers something in his ear and his expression is just suddenly like "Oh, shit" but he just sits there for like seven minutes and reads with the kids. I actually felt sorry for him right then. He has no freaking clue what he's gonna do, so he does nothing.

Statikk HDM 12-31-2004 12:59 PM

Rush Limbaugh: I sick of this hypocritical sack of dogcrap.
Al-Zarquawi(spelling? this is impossible sometimes)
Yo momma. Just kidding. I'd probably will the pilot of Air Force 1 to die. A killing so many buzzards with 1 stone is a sweet thing.

TheRaisin 12-31-2004 03:06 PM

Thoroughly destroying Bush is something Bush would try to do if he weren't Bush. Nahmean? It's like I was saying with Barney. He's a legend. He's not just one dinosaur anymore. So to kill him would do very little. Bush is the same type of thing. And look at Bush's War on Terror. Terrorism is an idea. You cannot destroy it. How are the sons of killed or captured terrorists going to grow up? Are they going to be good little children because bad ol' daddy is gone? Hell no. They're going to have a festering hatred for the people that invaded their country and killed their relatives. They're going to take up the bomb and the gun and the knife and they're going to become the next generation of terrorists, and by then the technology available to them will be devastatingly powerful. The War on Terror is a losing one.

As is the war on elected officials like Bush. Or, if we ever do win that war, it won't be by killing people we don't like.

Rich 12-31-2004 03:11 PM

'Tis 2005 now. It's a shame we had to end last year with the biggest natural disaster seen in yonks. I wonder what crappy stuff will happen this year.

Bush - war in Syria...
Rock stars die...
General crap stuff...

I'll be missing good ol' Detective Lennie Briscoe. At least Sam Waterson is still alive and kicking to keep the Law & Order series as kick ass as it is.

Wil 01-01-2005 06:56 AM

I don't wish death on anyone.

Necrum Miner: I used to believe the moon landing was hoaxed. Go to www.badastronomy.com, they debunk each of the conspiracy theorists' claims very precisely.

Funnily enough, when the Fox ‘documentary’ aired in the U.K., I was the only one in my class to believe the moon landings were hoaxed. A couple of weeks ago I was the one explaining to everyone else how they were not hoaxed. :p

The Shadowman 01-01-2005 09:10 AM

Its up to you Sam do not fail us!

TheRaisin 01-01-2005 06:53 PM

Oh yeah I just heard about that the night before last. TNT flashed a little thing that said his name (for the life of me, I can't remember it), showed his picture, told how long he lived. Then they had a little thing that said something schmaltzy and horribly impersonal, something like "We will remember you." I just hated that.

I always liked that guy. He was the perfect counterpart to Benjamin Bratt.

If the world ended now it would piss me off. When the world ends humans need to have gotten their shit together. I'll be damned if the world ends with humans still killing each other like assholes. That's like one of those movies where the main character dies and there's no resolution whatsoever.

Screw you man! I've never let the main character live in any story I've ever written! IF YOU LET THEM LIVE THEY BREED SEQUELS! ARGHGHRRRHGHRG!
I don't think the world ending would piss me off, well, it would if it happened suddenly, but if it was something everyone knew was going to happen, and it had like a twenty four hour time limit, then it would be good, because then you could act how you've always wanted to act, and not worry too much (Note: I don't mean do bad things, though some probably would).
