Do you want Kids?
I created a thread like this a few years ago and I thought it would be interesting to see changed opinions and new member opinions.
The title asks you, do you want kids? Answer the question ya schmuck. Reasons if possible. Anyway, in the old thread I was a no-kids fundamentalist. Now I've changed. I would like ONE Daughter, no more. I have little reasons, possibly the idea of a person who's entire life is roughly based around what you teach them is cool. I'll try and think up some more reasons. Enjoy. |

I'd love to have kids someday. Hopefully two, three at the most. I want to give them childhoods with a happy set of parents (and with no extreme violence) that I couldn't have myself.

Have kids? Well, I believe that I shouldn't get married(religious and personal reasons) so the only way is to adopt. Which would be fine, but I've heard adoption agencies have a huge bugs up their asses about letting single people adopt. So, screw it: One less headache for me.
P.S. It comes out to about 180,000 bucks American to raise a kid to the age 18, which would be what, about 100,000 pounds? And thats all pre-college and assuming that you don't send them to a private, parochial, or boarding school. You could easily blow upwards of a quarter million when all is said and done. |

Anyway, I'd like to have between 1-2 kids. Maybe a boy and a girl. I hear that girls are more likely to take better care of you when you get all old and decrepid. They're also less likely to pull the life support machine plug :D. |

In practice, no. I really dislike little kids. Wait scratch that. There's one kind of kid I don't like: the ones in Denny's. I swear to god. Maybe it's some sort of vortex around Denny's that changes an otherwise normal kid, maybe it's just the kind of kids that are drawn to Denny's restaurants, but I swear they're not normal children in those restaurants. They're demon children! Agh! Actually it's probably their family's fault. Denny's families are always like white trash, live with the grandma families and the dad's in a white undershirt and the mom's a few months pregnant with two little kids already making her life hell. Denny's sucks. I don't go there anymore. Actually there are an infinite number of reasons for not going to Denny's. Anyway.
Other little kids are fine. I don't connect with them (I feel really stupid around little kids, isn't it odd? You'd expect a person to feel goofy around older people, but I don't especially, no more so than I feel goofy around just about everybody, but somehow it's the little nonjudgmental tykes who make me feel all weird and embarassed. Last year my reading class read to like second graders. It was awesome, but I always felt like my reading buddy deserved someone cooler. All the other people in the class suddenly became big brothers and sisters, but I felt all out of my element.), but I like them. So the answer is yes. Yes I do want to have children. Probably two or three. Once I had this vision of myself. It was kind of a dream (I was in a sort of half-sleep fantasy land I go to). It was cool. I had kids and I was married to this woman. Those dreams are strange, eh wot? The ones where you live out your entire adult life in six hours and wake up still a teenager? Gawrd those are weird. I live for moments like that though. In my early years, I looked neither to the future nor the past because every moment was in glorious rose-tinted perfection and nothing could ever get nor ever had been better or worse. Now I look back in remembrance of those days and feel remorse that they ever ended, but on the other hand I look forward to what my life will be like when things start to work out. The present is, for me, a blank. So um yes. I'd like kids. |
Absolutely. I'm wonderful with children, and I love them to bits. I'd raise them like my Mother has raised me, though I don't know how I'd handle issues such as religion. More than likely I'd raise them as a Catholic, at Catholic Schools, like myself. I wouldn't give up my Catholic upbringing for anything, so I don't see why I wouldn't pass it on.

I would raise my child/children from a non-religious stance. Teaching them that the best thing that they can believe in is themselves. I wouldn't put them through birthrite ceremonies. If they want to be Religious later on that's their choice, I won't force Religion on them.
I am no good with young Children unless I really try, which I don't but if a child is your own there must be some sort of special bond that makes you aspire to be a good parent/ role-model. I don't really like young children. But after the age of 6 things start looking up. |

I'd like 3/4 kids, and I don't care whether they're a girl or a boy. I love little Kids, they're really sweet. And when they draw you little pictures, it's so adorable! ^_^ I don't think I'll be to fond of teenagers mind... I'd love to give my kids a great upbringing, where they have great memorys and I'll always try to do things with them (like making stuff, and arts and crafts) whilst they're young. I wouldn't force christianity on my kids, I'd try to show them different religions (sp?). But afterall it's their own choice. *goes off insearch of ferill |

My inital response is no. But...10 years down the line when life is getting you down and you're sick of spending money on yourself (what??!!) I suppose you'd want to brighten up your life and relationship by adding a few of the blighters. One day i'll understand why people not being able to have kids is so upsetting ;)

My dad is a twin so when I get married I have a 50/50 chance of twins
my cousins, both of their parents are twins so they basically have a 100% chance of having twins I want twins my sister on the other hand wants to adopt a little oriental boy. I think it's cause the pain in childbirth for the girls sorry girls Yes, I want twins |

I like children. Really small children that I can adore while they're quiet and simply give back to its parent when it starts to scream. I don't think I have the patience (sp?) to be a good mother. Besides, the sound of children crying freaks me out. But yeah, a few kids would be fun! Doesn't matter if I screw them up or not, everything wrong with them will be my fault anyway.

I feel that kids are kind of like parties. You don't want them around every single night, and most of the time you want 'em at someone else's house. That way if it sucks, you can just go back to your nice quiet house and hell, why not play some Oddworld while you're at it.
But maybe one day. Who knows? |

I want kids eventually. Only one or two though, cause any more than that and I think things just get out of hand. I want at least one girl though, if not two... although I've heard teenage girls are a lot harder to parent than teenage guys. ...Bring it on. I wish I could just give babies some pill or something and have them wake up 5 or 6 years old. The whole infant and toddler stages don't sound like a whole lot of fun to me. I think the older they get the cooler they'd be though. |

I hate children. They're annoying, drooling and overall spasticated for my own being. I never saw myself as a father figure, if it did come to that moment if your wife or girlfriend was pregnant, better accept the fact. Must hurt like hell :confused: |

I think poor people need to stop having so many damn kids.
I'm starting to sound like my hyper-conservative friend. He believes that the U.S. will eventually become a socialist hell where a vast part of the population loafs around getting supported by the government. His reasoning is that poor people will keep having more and more kids until they're a majority, then vote for liberal presidents year after year who give more and more aid to the destitute until it gets to the point where they're getting so much aid they no longer have to work. It could almost sound believable except for two things: 1) the poor will always stay poor, that's just how our nation works, and 2) poor people don't vote. They either don't take part in the process or get scared away by poll workers biased in favor of the Republican candidate, or their votes get destroyed or invalidated, or whatever. But seriously, why do they always have so many kids? |
