What languages do you all speak apart from English?
I can speak German, French, a little Russian and Japanese, a bit of Thai and a bit of Hindi. How about you?
|
Just about everything, sadly. I had too much time on my hands.
|
Well I come from Wales, which is nextdoor to England, and we have our own language (Welsh). Although my first language is English, I'm learning to speak Welsh.
Hylo. Sut rydych chi? - Hello. How are you? And Welsh is what J. R. R. Tolkein based the Elvish language on. |
French. But I can't speak it at all. Just randomly circle answers in exams and get good grades. *Luck*
|
Just English and French here. I'm boring.
|
Just English and Bulgarian.
|
English and hungarian (WOOOOOOWWWWW!!!!)... That is all...
|
French.
Finnish - From what Henna teaches me. Elvish - Random stuff I pick up from Sid. |
English....Obviously.....
French and Spanish. I find them both so hard >_< Amy is teaching me a few random words in german (like Carrot) so I can shout it out when I travel there in a few weeks (Yaay). I also speak a weeny bit of Chinese and Japanese because Leigh is teaching me ^_^ But most of the stuff I know is totally random, and serves no purpose in normal life. Go me! |
I only know English. I wish I knew Japanese. *cries*
Abe Babe... |

I'm almost ashamed to say I can only speak fragmented french, and perfect english.
I would really like to be perfectly fluent in Greek however, and it will always remain one of my life goals. |
:
Yeah, I speak Finnish, Swedish--really awfully though, even if I've studied Swedish for five years now;)-- and I know a few words in russian. Ich bin panzerwagen!! ...wha? :| *confused herself* |

I can speak English and the worst beginner Spanish in the universe.
|
but whatever you do, stick with it. My friend sucks at Spanishand is switching to French (I think it's harder). He'll have to take a summer class to catch up.
|
I speak English and a bit of French, but have had the sense not to take up another language, it would confuse me. Odd bits of Spanish and Jappanese here and there. I've purchased a home leaning Paramite speech course. (NOT) If only we could!!!
|
Dutch (my own language), English (could be my own language), a bit of French, Spanish and German.
|
English is my main language, though many people I know have no clue what the heck I'm talking about (Mostly because I'm talking about Oddworld)....
I speak a little Spanish and a teeny tiny bit of Polonesian. |

I'm fluent in "Idiot" but thats about it! :D
|
Spanish and American Sign Language.
|
English, of course, I've taken one year of Spanish (I could probably live fairly easily in Mexico for a month or two, I think I have a good grasp on the basics), I know odd little snippets of German and French (ich bin ein auslander, j'mon je de ouitre malad), a few of those cool Latin phrases everyone knows (non illegitamus carburundum), and maybe three sentences in Japanese. I took Spanish this last year because it was the only foreign language offered to eighth graders and it beat the alternative electives, but my passion is Japanese. I am crazy about all things Japanese, and hope to go to Japan for an extended period of time some day, so I'm taking Japanese all throughout high school and into college. I will probably take eight years of it.
And maybe if I get a chance I'll learn Cantonese as well. |
Dutch, my native language... English my second native language :D... eh... hm... maybe two words german... 5 words spanish...
Dutch Joke: Oh... and you who this is? He's handsome, smart, f*cks like a tiger and only speaks one word French... Moi! And before ppl start making me look like an idiot... this is a dutch joke, and the part with the tiger is originaly there so don't look at me so weird! :fuzconf: :fuzconf: |
Oh, by the way, if you want to make decent money by doing virtually nothing, become a sign language interpretor. I'm doing the odd interpretation jobs and loving every second of it.
Plus, deaf people usually have amazing things to say. Learning sign language and striking up a conversation is not only enjoyable, but tends to brighten up the persons day. Do it. |

I've only taken two Spanish classes in high school. I don't really plan to take any more foreign language classes. A while back, I really wanted to learn Japanese, but now I'm not so devoted. I mean, it would be cool to be fluent in another language, but I don't think I would have the time to learn a language as complicated as Japanese... or any other language for that matter.
In retrospect, I should have taken German instead of Spanish. I find the language much more interesting. I'm never going to use what little Spanish I have learned. It's only good for random little comedy bits. For example, when a customer asked me if Secret Window is good, I replied "Es muy ventana." You see, stupid stuff like that can really brighten your day if you rent out videos for rednecks. But if there is one positive thing I've taken away from my high school language classes, it's that I can now speak in a semi-convincing Spanish accent... even if I've completely forgotten about grammar and sentence structure. |
My right hand gets tired because it has arthritis [car accident. Boring story.]
But it's nothing too terrible. And at $13.00 an hour, I can stand a bit of pain. |
Ummmmm, what does this have to do with language? :fuzconf:
