OMFG!!!1 C0/\/\1X PWN J00!!!!!!11!!1one

Meh. And why haven't I been doodling like a good little aspiring artist? The answer is simple: work, school, and Unreal Tournament 2004.

However, I did manage to whip this one up while I was in the middle of my big, nine-page "No Resistance" comic strip (which I will post in this thread... if I ever get around to finishing it).

It's from the "Lazzy Slays The Wicked!" storyline (formerly 'Loki Slays The Wicked!'). That's Ashley (aka Aftiel) on the left and Lazarus (aka Lazzy, formerly Loki) on the right.

Enjoy my incoherent dialogue and crap skills with ink and photoshop 5. Ta... da? And by the way, it's a light red... not pink. Bah. Red vs Blue fans know what I'm talking about.

Mac the Janitor 05-09-2004 06:21 PM

Yay! Finally more of your work!

Great stuff. I've gotta say, the incorparation of the "light red" really gives it a unique flair, instead of having simply black and white.

Also love your stylization of the hands.

Hobo 05-10-2004 05:46 AM

I love it. Yes. *love*

Fez 05-10-2004 08:54 AM

LOL Rex, thats great.

TheRaisin 05-17-2004 06:49 PM

Que bien! Muy bueno! How do you do it, SeaRex? How do you continue to be so ass-kickingly awesome? *sheds a tear for teh beauty of t3h c0m1l<*

Cute manga-riffic cat-eared girl, too. Those damn manga girls! They always get me, what with their extraneous animal parts, big shiny eyes and pouty faces!

SeaRex 06-01-2004 07:53 AM

First "No Resistance" comic. Page 1 of 9.

This one isn't very good... I penciled it way before my first LSTW comic. With any luck, I'll have four more pages posted by the end of the day. Just messing around; after all, this WAS my first attempt at a "major" comic strip.

Trust me, these will get a wee bit better as I go.

Ci-Ci and Chicago. Pencil, Ink, and touch-ups/lettering in Photoshop.

Hobo 06-01-2004 07:57 AM

I like it. Yay. *more love*

SeaRex 06-01-2004 11:20 AM

Getting better... pages 2 to 6 out of 9.

I originally hated page 5, but it's grown on me and is now my favorite so far. Hehehe... you can barely see my little "asshat" remark at the bottom of five.

*gasp* What has become of Ci-Ci? And why do these noodles make you sing cheesey folk songs? One of these questions will be answered on the next page, but you fools will just have to wait!

EDIT: Interesting. Page 6 is slightly "lighter" than all the others... :|

Hobo 06-01-2004 11:00 PM

Oooooh. I like it. *the rest of his love*

The Red Muse 06-01-2004 11:35 PM

Ah, marry me!
That was just so bloody great!
Yay!

Hobo 06-02-2004 12:11 AM

:

Ah, marry me!

Again? Three times is enough don't you think:p

Fuzzles! 06-03-2004 09:57 AM

OMG you DID those??? They are very, very, very good! No they are GREAT! Wow I really like your style there!

TheRaisin 06-03-2004 05:56 PM

OMFG. S34R3x... j00r c0m1x pvvnz /\/\y 455. It's that simple. What are brilliance, depth, striking good looks, athletic prowess, loquacity... next to your 455-pwnzing skills? --sigh-- I must drown my sorrows in Chai tea. ... lolz.

oddguy 06-03-2004 07:07 PM

Wow! I should've looked at this thread earlier! The title threw me off.

Anyway, amazing work, SeaRex. I love your style. I think you and Dipstikk have the best art on the forums, when it comes to comic emotion. Great stuff!

My favorite character is ZEE DOOKTOR! :D

Awesome comic art honestly you have talent welcome to the brotherhood of professional artist! Consider yourself a professional lad because with art like that you have potential.

Fez 06-04-2004 06:08 AM

Its so decent! I love them! Dooctor, that word made me laugh.

Oddish 06-04-2004 06:29 AM

Paramiteabe is right you know, it's very very porfesional!! 100% porfesional!!! I also like your stlye!

*claps*

SeaRex 06-04-2004 07:03 AM

Thanks for the kind words, guys. I'm hoping to hone my skills next year with several art classes.

Currently penciled pages 7 and 8... preparing to ink 7.

New work soon.

Oh because maybe I free lance in professional art. I have seen good comics and bad comics and great comics. And what this is, is of that professional look or at least close to it. I would have to look at a series of work to really make the determination. But as a free lancer and someone who is looking for talent at a professional level. SeaRex has that professional touch in the work. Now wether this comic would sell to the public, thats a different story all together. But by the looks of the work, SeaRex's comic art looks like it has that professional comic art touch to it. And its even better that its done in black and white with pen and ink as oppose to color. Pen and Ink takes a huge dagree of control and you SeaRex seem to keep everything nice and crisp and thats the result you want, that crispness in the work.

TheRaisin 06-04-2004 07:34 PM

Wasabi... I liked him before I even knew his name, what he was, before he had an accent (odd that it's a Freudian German one when his name is a Japanese word), but now... he's my new hero. In a few short strips he has ranked himself among Squee, Black Mage, Piro, Largo, Dan, the Master Chief, Vexx, Zim, Dib... among heroes, these are, for me, the very highest rank. And now Wasabi is among them. He is undoubtedly one of the coolest characters I have ever seen.
See, it's only with characters like these that you can make six whole strips in which nothing but bad noodle cups, folk songs, and an attempted poisoning happen.

Hmm, speaking of the Chief, I really should catch up on the Halo 2 updates.

EDIT: Damn, always forget something. I just needed to say this: I'm hot like Wasabi when I bust rhymes. :D I'm sure someone will get it.

SeaRex 06-05-2004 03:20 AM

Damn you, Raisin. You just inadvertently stole the magic from one of Ci-Ci's ramblings on page seven.

You'll see.

Oh because maybe I free lance in professional art.

Doesn't mean you're any good at it or telling what it is.....

paramiteabe 06-05-2004 09:07 AM

What ever dude I know good work from bad work and this is good work.

LOL. I am very good at stealing magic from things. I constantly piss my friends off, disbunking their cool theories and telling them why God doesn't exist, and how we evolved from ape-like ancestors, and how Saddam Hussein drained the fertile marshland believed to be the area in which the real Garden of Eden once existed. Wow... if I ever got famous, a lot of people would hate me. :D:D:D  I'm so slick, I'm Crisco.

Hobo 06-05-2004 10:39 PM

But surely art is all about opinion, so nothing could be defined as either good or bad. *stabs*

paramiteabe 06-06-2004 05:15 AM

First of all your right art is defined by opinion and my opinion towards the work is very good. Secondly if a good opinion made by a professional artist who works in the field and gives his honest opinion then that opinion is what counts. I am a professional freelance artist in Illustration I free lance work to clients all the time and now I am doing freelance work for Spectrum. On top of that I just currently made a deal with a local business. They want me to do three designs, original work by me for their company. So don't sit there and say that I don't know what the **** I am talking about because I do know what I am talking about when it comes to professional art and design thankyou very much!

Paramiteabe... :fuzblink:

SeaRex 06-06-2004 05:29 AM

Shut up, you two.

Hobo 06-06-2004 05:53 AM

Awwww. Yes sir.

*Votes searex as FC mod*

Mac the Janitor 06-06-2004 08:58 AM

GREAT stuff here. I love it. We finally get to see Wasabi in action!

TheRaisin 06-06-2004 06:07 PM

Watching Wasabi in action is like watching a pride of lions hunting from a few dozen yards away: exciting, but more than a little terrifying. *like Major Payne*: Ehhh-heh heh hehhh!

BTW, I have heard "asshat" used in such a way as to suggest it means something similar to "buttmunch" or "fartknocker". I assume that in the context of your comic, it is a compliment?

SeaRex 06-09-2004 05:28 PM

No. Like I said, before I inked page 5, I hated the way it looked. Hence the asshat (which I prefer pronouncing "ass hat" rather than "ass shat" 'cuz it's funnier).

Whoop. Pages 7 through 9. It's over. Finally. Done. Although the plot and dialogue of this particular strip is weak, I think I've finally found the style I'm looking for. To spite the fact that I totally f*cking hate this strip as a whole, I am quite proud of it. I hope you have enjoyed the first installment of "No Resistance." ^_^

Ci-Ci, Chicago, Wasabi, Baka Noodle, Random Business Guy, and Vampire Chicken Fetus (c) Me, bitches.
"Children In Heat" and "TV Casualty" (c) Glenn Danzig

Five months in the making, you dirty mphr phumprs.

TheRaisin 06-13-2004 10:21 AM

Ohhh yeah, the art in that panel is a little... asshat. But the action is good. Wasabi's line right there at the end... that's like, my new favorite catch phrase. Heh heh hehhh.

Very very very cool coolness, SR. For some reason, Ci-Ci looks alternately old and young. I think it's the way the lines under her eyes appear and disappear, seemingly at random. And... yeah. The whole thing just kicks ass. Do more. Now. Right now! DOO EET!!! :D :smokin:  :dodgy:

P.S. These new emoticons are the shizzney.

Well, if you had read my last couple of posts, you would know that I thought it was asshat ONLY BEFORE I inked it... I actually like it now. I didn't think I was making Ci-Ci look old either. She just woke up, had no coffee, and I used the lines under her eyes to express emotions like "near-drunkenness" and apathy.

It honestly wasn't my intention to make her look old/young. :|

I have one little drawing on the back burner that I'll be posting soon; a character I haven't drawn in quite a while, no less. It's a little tribute to one of my favorite singers. It's also really angst-ridden and cheesey... but in a good way.

Planned Work: LSTW 002 (only one panel), No Resistance 002 (also a mere one panel), character profiles for Ci-Ci/Chicago/Wasabi, and a possible animation.

SeaRex 06-14-2004 07:14 AM

That cheesey pic I was talking about. I used my favorite textured background in Photoshop 5 for that extra creepy effect.

'Tis an Ode to Glenn Danzig using Sandalphon, that wacky fallen angel/genocidal pedophile. Perfect villain, naturally. All that's missing is nazism. ^_^

Sandalphon (the character) (c) Me.
Sandalphon (the angel) (c) God.
"Skulls" lyrics (c) Glenn Danzig.

TheRaisin 06-15-2004 05:42 PM

I guess I should read those old comments a bit more carefully, eh? Eh heh heh... yeah.

Yes, I realize the intent of the little liney thingies. I was just pointing out that they also make her look old... is all. Wow, I'm kind of being kind of annoying, am I not? Oh well, I'm voicing my opinion.

Ci-Ci is little erratic, isn't she? Reminds me of myself. I can be practically in a coma one moment, and jumping up and down shouting strange words the next. I suppose my sleeping habits might contribute to that. Ehh heh heh. Not that Ci-Ci is hyper per se, but her mood seems to shift rapidly.

Damn, I'm not very eloquent today. Well screw it, school's almost out. I can't be bothered with such petty things as appearing coherent and thoughtful. What the hell do you want from me? Sorry. Much angry energy. Please disregard everything I just said. I'll just shut up here now then... now.

SeaRex 06-22-2004 06:18 PM

Point taken, Raisin. I always appreciate constructive criticism.

You guys can download my animation at deviantART... BUT READ THIS FIRST:

Click the link, click the "download" (arrow) button directly under the image, and resize the window if necessary. You see, for some reason certain browsers cut off the animation in the correct place, while others may show the extra background mess you aren't supposed to see. So make the window smaller if you need to.

Linkage here.

oddguy 06-22-2004 06:32 PM

Just loved the animation, SeaRex. :D

"Where the HELL are they?" That just killed me.

Whenever I see these cool animations made by forum members, it makes me wish I had the means to make my own. :( It's just because my comp is Win 98...with 60MB RAM. Yeah...

-oddguy

SeaRex 06-23-2004 04:14 PM

Thanks, oddguy. I'm glad you liked it. I actually don't have Flash just yet (I made the animation at an Art Institute), but I plan on buying the program and a smart pad to go with it.

Character profiles for the main "No Resistance" characters...

oddguy 06-23-2004 04:37 PM

That Chigago Profile cracked me up because I know people just like that!
