How many people here like slim shady? How many think he is a bad influence? How many people just hate him? I think he rules.

I really don't care much for Eminem. I don't say he's that bad of an influence as there are far worse things out there (however if I ever see a five year-old listening to him I will turn off the radio). Personally, the biggest of the bad influences is the most subtle - MTV. I know, most of you are probably imagining me to be an eighty year-old man who speaks of the days of cleaner television, but trust me I am not. But really, MTV is a poor influence especially to the adolescent of the USA. While many older music videos make a point (IE - Pearl Jam's "Jeremy"), many videos these days are just an attractive model shaking her ass or the screen focused on her breasts - glorifying sex and leading to an audience of sex-craved morons (see my thread on Comedy Movies for further exploration of this). Also, make a point of this - have you ever seen an unattractive person on MTV? Ever seen someone with skin cancer or a burn victim? Of course not. You've seen people like Britney Spears and Ricky Martin. Ever seen a movie which stars someone who looks like they got hit with the preverbial "ugly stick?" Not at all. So, while people may wish to complain about Eminem's explicit lyrics, it is MTV which leads the way for the youth of America to make fun of the "nerdier" students and generally case a slightly more anti-social atmosphere.

Damnit... stop fighting! this freaking tension is getting severely annoying. Must every one blow up in eachothers faces? Sadly, it seems like a large percentage of the posts turn into fights. Can any one post any thing without getting flamed and then a fight starting? God... shake hands and stop fighting.
In my own opinion, I hate Eminem. I don't mind any one liking him, but i can't stand his music. He seems very homophobic and... just.. bad. this is only my opinion though. |

As for Eminem, I don't really like his music. Some of the tunes are alright, but I don't care for the lyrics. I have no problem with others enjoying his music, though. |

I don't say that i hate him, i like a few songs. I just hear it when my brother show me his new songs. But i never liked his bad lyrics about gays, girls and fat people! Whatever, he can sing what he want...i have no preference, i don't have to hear it.

What was wrong with Dakkan's post? Personally, i laffed my ass off! And what's wrong with ICP. A little Detroit based rap never hurt nobody, foo'! I must agree with Dakkan here, eminem is nothin' but a poser whose 15 minutes of fame will soon pass. Whats wrong with seeing a hot chick shake what God gave her on MTV? I like so-called message music, (RATM, alice in chains,) but a little goofy shit can go a long way to ease tention. Back off haters of hot chicks and like the style of music you like whithout dissin' other people(even if they deserve it, like Eminem).

:shrugs: I guess it's just me. I'm a teenager but I'm more biased to Classic Rock (IE - Pink Floyd) and Progressive Rock (IE - ELP). I supposed it's the fact that I just generally loathe Pop music and (for the most case) don't care for Rap.

I really don't care for Eninem, as I aren't a big fan of rap music. I like one of his songs though... I can't remember the name of it though, but it's the one about the fan that commits suicide cause he never hears from his hero.

i don't see eminem as a bad influence, i just think he is shit. i am not a big hip-hop fan at the best of times, but i really hate people who become very popular despite having no real talent. eminem is one of these people. the only reason he is so popular is the fact that he swears a lot. i have no objection to swearing, as long as there is some actually good music to back it up, which in eminem's case, there isn't.
however, the reason i really hate eminem is because he came up with a whole new personality so that he can say all kinds of racist/sexist/homophobic crap and then say 'it wasn't me who said that, it was slim shady'. he really does make me sick. for the record, insane clown posse are shit too, along with all hip-hop 'artists'. |

My fav band is Primus, Les claypool is GOD! And if their are dozens of fans bitchin' because Herb left, shut up. The brain is a great drummer. If you are a hardcore fan you may have noticed that a song in which Ozzy does the vocals with the band playing on the nativity in black 2 cd is getting some airplay. In my opinion, seas of cheese, antipop and frizzle fry are the primo primus works. Don't be shy buy a primus cd and sail the seas of cheese!!
