Comics

I think it's time to to a Comic thread. I haven't seen one yet in this forum so I started one.

So I start with this already classic interactive Comic by Hoogerbrugge

I'm reading through Persepolis again. It's slightly less interesting this time around.

Hazel-Rah 11-22-2010 10:50 PM

I found a big box of my old Marvel comics recently, I've always prefered Marvel to DC especially when I was a kid.

Emesdee 11-22-2010 10:57 PM

I read Spider-Man: Reign, and many people compared it to The Dark Knight Returns. I guess on the basic level, it kind of was, but it also shared the same stupidity. Thirty years in the future, Peter Parker is a pathetic old man, who apparently killed Mary Jane with his radioactive sperm. Wouldn't have been so bad if they didn't play it so seriously.

I have all the big Alan Moore comics, the complete Sandman, Lucifer, Preacher and some of the better DC trade paperbacks.

I figure it's too late to start Marvel, and since they have a terrible direction I have no real drive to.

Bullet Magnet 11-23-2010 05:12 AM

It's never too late to start Marvel. Which may be the problem.

OddjobAbe 11-23-2010 07:53 AM

These are the only comics I still find fairly entertaining.

STM 11-23-2010 10:52 AM

I don't like comics. Except spy vs spy. and one or two one off comics. DC/ Marvel etc, sicken me.

scrabface 11-23-2010 01:24 PM

It's been a long time since the last update, but it's really worth waiting.

I assumed this thread was about Comedians... how I am disappointed.

i've only read one comic in my entire life. it was a Viz comic.

Mr. Bungle 11-23-2010 02:11 PM

I enjoy reading comics from time to time, but haven't in ages. I only own The Essential Spider-man, Vol. 1 & 2. I should probably get more.

OANST 11-23-2010 02:19 PM

I enjoyed The Sandman, Preacher, Watchmen, some of Hellboy, and BPRD's, and The Goon was pretty cool. I haven't touched a comic in quite a while, though.

Nate 11-23-2010 06:54 PM

I own The Absolute Sandman volumes 2-4. Goddamn 1 sold out before Amazon could send it to me.

Strike Witch 11-23-2010 07:23 PM

One Piece kicks ass.

The first one almost convinced me to not read anymore. It has DC Superheroes in it, and it just seemed so out of place and jarring that I wasn't sure if I should continue. Luckily, Gaiman stopped doing that pretty quickly.

Wings of Fire 11-24-2010 06:29 AM

For me the series started the issue Death was introduced, and just got better from there.

<3 Death.

Yeah, the first storyline didn't grab me in when I first read it, but I like Gaiman (and I figured there had to be something behind the hysterical love so many people have for Sandman) so I stuck with it. Totally worth it.

MeechMunchie 11-25-2010 03:24 AM

I occasionally dip into my Flaming Carrot compilations.

scrabface 11-25-2010 08:50 AM

oh yes!

T-nex 11-25-2010 08:55 AM

I havent read comics.. Never been much into them. The only ones I knew of where the boring superhero ones... And I don't like superhero comics cos they go on and on and where the hell does one start?

Anyway, I read 'Bone', which was quite awesome IMO ^^ Also 'Billy the Cat'. The last one is really kidsy, but I read it as a kid, and it was really creative and fun.

In your face, serious comic readers!!!!!

Did anyone collect the old thomas the tank engine comics that were published about 10 years ago? The other day I realised the girl I sit next to has the same ruler I got from the old comics, they only realised it once...weird

OANST 12-08-2010 05:44 AM

I like the one where Thomas fought Magneto. It was heart breaking the way Magneto used all of Thomas' metal against him.

Mr. Bungle 12-08-2010 01:10 PM

Anyone else think that Calvin and Hobbes is the greatest comic strip ever created?

OANST 12-08-2010 01:31 PM

Yes.
