OddWorld War
If Hand of Odd had ever been made, who would you think would win if a Oddworld ran into a World War?
|
Hm..As much as i love natives, i would have to say industrials. They have more artilery.
Many many topics have been made like this. Like when i just joined and i was a young nOOb, i even posted a topic like this. No affence biggy bro slig. |
wolvarks are industrials, no?
as much as Sligs and Interns |
Didn't we have a thread like this recently?
Hmmm, I dunno. I would think the war would break out amongst the indutrial powers and the natives would stand by the side lines. |
Well the game Hand of Odd would not have been much fun if one side had any advantage. The whole point of the game was that each side had its skills and advantages and that we should not pass judgement on any of them.
|
if all the wildlife got together they would rip any race...
you'd vote for them too if Big Red was standing next to you! |
I'm not sure of that... a few slig tanks would be enough to wipe them out

I don't think the wild creatures would be smart enough to find the weakspot in a mechanical device. That would be like a snake and a wild boar attacking a M1A1 tank.
|
Definetely the Industrialists. They have more machinery, technology, artillery, and general organization. Sure Mudokons can throw grenades and possess things, but that still wouldn't beat back an army of Sligs and Snoozers.
|
Outlaws can whip up anything into shape, considering they're super cool. Blisterz Booty, Jo mamma, Measly Mcgraw, all backed up with their minions, they sure can kick some @$$.
|
wildlife cuz. the day wen paramites and scarbs work together. 'Even fleeches keep their distance'
|
Natives. Shrykull is not nice to Industrialists. Also, remember what a Storm Circle did to Rupturefarms...
|
yeah but remember what the idustrials did to the natives in the first place...
they inslaved them. |
Yes the Industrialists enslaved the Muds by TRICKERY because they had no other choice. They didn't enslave all that many either - just Sam the Queen
|
Ultimately, the industrialists run out of resources, and/or destroy themselves. The townies and outlaws depend on industrists to survive, so they will go too. Even though they have better weapons, and even if they destroy Oddworld's wildlife, once they are gone, nature will take over. Life always survives in one form or another, and an absence of a human like oppressor, nature takes it's course. Just look at Chernobyl. The absence of people have created one of the most beautiful places in the world, and trading off human presence for dangerous levels of radiation is definetly worth it for wildlife. the rarest of european animals live in the nearby town of Pripyat (i think that's the spelling) in abundance. Check it out on the internet.
So Industrialists may win the war, but their destiny is to lose it all. Just like we probably will. |
I love the natives, but the industrialists would probably win...
They have guns and the natives have spears and chant power. Chant power that you have to wait 3 seconds before you can use it.... Dunno, though... With Abe's shrykull power, Big Face and the animals on their side maybe they'd pull a revolutionary war type scenario and beat the odds... |
...And then the remaining sapient creatures will fight in an every-mud-for-himself world as outlaw-style people. So outlaws will gainthe upper hand because everyone is an outlaw. Unless there are no outlaws because there are no laws. Hmm.
On Earth there is only one sapient race (that I'm aware of) that fill every way of life, but on Oddworld, every race has a predetermined affinity for the niches described in the poll. How many Muds do you see who aren't native, or wishing they were. How many outlaw species (Aaaargh! no names!) live in piece with townies like Clakkerz. How many sligs- you get the idea. The only character who lived (so far) in an environment he was not suited to is Stranger- steef are natives, but he was a towny for so long! Just a thought. I expect these ridged guidelines have been blurred many times in the fan fic. |
Actually, as the quintology progresses into the cities of Mudos, we are going to see industrialised Muds who work for wages and enjoy their status in society.
|
We all hope and pray for more insight into the cities of Oddworld, but Lorne says that the Quintology is unlikely to be continued for a while in any medium other than films. Which would be great, as long as the "movie tie in" games WIL BE MADE BY OWI AND OWI ALONE.

Thankyou for that interesting and insightful contribution to this thread.

Think about it though. Oddworld doesn't have nearly the amount of success to squeeze into the budget to produce a full-length, Hollywood style movie.
The only reason my doubts are so high is Lorne's tally for finished projects vs. unfinished projects, and that if this project is complete, it will still not be what Lorne is going for, but he's too impatient to wait for that door to open. If it is, then hey, more power to ya, Lorne! But I still think he's just being assisted in a pipe dream. Of course, I'm just being a cross between realistically pesomistic/charmingly cynical. Who knows? Maybe Lorne will pull it off. I don't have lot of faith though. |
We don't know that they don't have the funds though, anything is possible. For all we know they could be being funded by a big time film corporation. The demand for CG films has gone up in recent years, I have a feeling there is much more to this than we think.
|
I hope so.
Please, please, please kick McKenna off for this project, Lorne! |
Hmm? What's wrong with Sherry?
|
If the Native clans and tribes united under one banner, I could see them holding their own and perhaps even succeeding. But, if they remain scattered (as they seem to be, thus far), the Magog would crush them.

Disallows any gore? Tell me, do you remember the exploding sligs from the first two games? Their heads bounced of the screen!
