Guys wearing a pink shirt.

Now I had this discussion with my friend the other day. He said that guys wearing Pink Shirts makes them gay. Well I'm undecided about it. But he also said that going out with a bunch of girls makes you gay too. So I don't know about his opinion.

But let me get to my point.
Guys: Would you wear a Pink Shirt? If so would you do so to makes the Ladies think that you have a feminine side or because it looks good?

Gals: Do you like it when a Guy wears a Pink shirt? Do you think that he might be a better guy because of the shirt or do you think it makes him look gay too?

Esus 07-06-2005 07:23 AM

Your friend is stupid.

No, going out with a bunch of guys going to a Fancy resturant and calling it a date is gay.
:

Your friend is stupid.

Got that right.

ANN NEELY 07-06-2005 07:56 AM

It is merely a style, nothing to get all worked up about.

Just because a guy wears pink does not make him gay, and they are not wearing it to impress girls; they are trying to be cool by following current styles.

I agree, your friend is stupid.

SeaRex 07-06-2005 08:01 AM

I wouldn't wear pink. Not because people would think I was "gay," (hell, that's never stopped from wearing something stupid before) but because I dislike pink. It's too... like... I get images of the ideal middle-class, middle-age 50's-era male... wearing like a pink and pastel sweater vest and tight slacks, smoking a pipe and reading the paper.

Yeah.

Anyway, it's just easier to blame stupid America's stupid obsession with stupidly bashing anything that's remotely homosexual. Stupid.

T-nex 07-06-2005 08:01 AM

You know in Denmark, it's the new trend to wear pink for boys. It doesn't make them gay at all...

Esus 07-06-2005 08:05 AM

Ditto in England.
At least for the trendy people with their FCUK crap.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Apparel does not affect your sexuality!!!

AquaticAmbi 07-06-2005 10:08 AM

Hah, how silly of your friend. I don't see what the big deal is; I guess it's just the whole pink is assigned to girls from birth thing, so when a mature male wears it... Blah, I still don't see what the big deal is.

It's just a color, but I do guess it can make a guy stand out for wearing it around here... However, I still don't believe a color of a shirt alone is enough to make someone look homosexual.

Rich 07-06-2005 10:48 AM

Shows how homophobic America is. I'd wear a pink shirt just to spite the fool.

I have a tainted pink t-shirt that has a picture of a notepad on the front.

The notepad reads: "Note to self; separate whites from reds". 'tis cool. :D

Wil 07-06-2005 10:57 AM

Ha! How topical. I was just yesterday dicussing with a friend why men wearing pink had somehow come into fashion.

He reasoned that it came from emo. Such people class themselves as being losers in the eyes of mainstream fashion, so wear pink, a colour obviously associated as something losers would wear, as a testament to their belief that they don't need to be mainstream to be cool.

Trust pink to then enter mainstream fashion.

I have nothing wrong with people wearing pink, but it's irritating that it's simply because of the latest trend. I can't wear pink because it has the same effect on me as red, bringing out the redness of my skin.

I agree, I think we should move away from characterising people by the colours they wear, especially when that characterisation itself is as mean-spirited as classifying people by their sexuality.

Dino 07-06-2005 11:26 AM

As stupid as pink shirts are on guys, I can only think of one thing that it would indicate; putting your red underwear in with your white shirts isn't a good idea. As for sexuality, pfft, no way. I see men wearing pink shirts all the time and it doesn't really bother me, it just makes me think that they look a bit silly.

Rich 07-06-2005 11:36 AM

But why is it a bad or amusing thing? Is it like with the child sex, that society has made us believe that pink is a girl colour and thus a male wearing it must be gay or stupid?

It's a goddamn colour! Stop the propoganda!

Yes that's exactly the reason. :D

Statikk HDM 07-06-2005 11:44 AM

No, its because pink is a shitty color associated with emo and fairies.
I've known a lot of people who bought into this trendy horsecrap and they were almost always metro or borderline retarded.
Like my brothers.

Jacob 07-06-2005 12:29 PM

In England it's the Trendy-Puffs (not as in Homosexuals, just as in they have anal sex with anything remotely trendy) who wear pink. Most are phallus'.

I remember when it used to be just the white shirt brigade you had to look out for if you were worried about getting a beating. With their awful white shirts, gelled "flick" hair-styles, gold chains, blue jeans and black shoes. Now they're also wearing pink and yellow.

Hopefully they won't latch on to black, as that's the only consistant colour i wear on a night out. Either black and red or black and white. I'm currently looking for some green to match with it, alas, no look so far.

But yes, in England it tends to be the more Homophobic Muffies that wear pink. But just so i don't sound like a stuck record, even though i agree with the points brought up, your friend is...clever.

Rich 07-06-2005 01:51 PM

Jesus Christ, it's just a shirt. If you wanna wear it, wear it. If you don't, then don't.
As for chav and hooligan wear, it's still trackies and caps where I live, not pink shirts.

ANN NEELY 07-06-2005 03:07 PM

Colors tend to be very symbolic to people. I did a report on this last year and asked people what they viewed certain colors to stand for.

Red- Blood, violence, strength
Orange- Fall, fruit, harvest
Yellow- Day, happiness, fright
Green- Nature, growth, friends
Blue- Success, peace, water, sadness
Violet- Spirit, flowers, excited
PINK- Love, femininity, girls, homos

I do find it odd that pink is only considered a girl color. My boyfriend has a bright pink shirt with the words, "All My Black Clothes Are In The Wash" on the front. It is just a color, what is the big deal?

Jacob 07-06-2005 03:58 PM

'As for chav and hooligan wear, it's still trackies and caps where I live, not pink shirts.'

Trendy-Puffs are not Chavs though, they're vaguely better than them. Still a bunch of twats though.

Hell, my friends where pink shirts like every other day, and I know they're straight. The point is, a color doesn't describe someone. So a guy likes pink, whoopty ****ing doo! And just because it's pink, doesn't make it gay. I don't like pink because is doesn't match my personality. Pink: Loving, kind, compassionate :)....So not me.

sligster 07-06-2005 06:18 PM

I remember a while ago, my principal was actually going to BAN the color pink, because she thought it was gang related (because, ya know, boys can't wear pink :p). A bunch of students protested and got suspended. I dunno how it ended up, cuz I had gone onto High School, but I don't think it ever passed.

Only if you are a girl.

Leto 07-06-2005 09:31 PM

Only if you are a girl.
That has to be the most idiotic thing I've ever heard.

Females going out with females are called LESBIAN, not gay. Why, oh WHY did 'gay' become an insult for everyone?

Pink is just a sily colour. Wear it, and you're not necessarily gay, but more sort of fruity. You know, Japanese fashion, Fruits? :p

This is the latest from Von Dutch:

Dino 07-06-2005 09:41 PM

I'm not gay.

I'm pink. HA! Mwa! Mwa ha! HA!

No. There's more to life than just dressing in risque and otherwise stupid colours, especially if you're doing it just to confuse people about your sexuality. Pink is one of those colours that's just bad... it's... "nice"... ugh. Fine on girls but really it just doesn't work with men. Dark pink maybe, if it's with purple, and lime green, and yellow, and you happen to be going to a rave. But on a T-shirt? No, just no, that's far too stupid.

MojoMan220 07-06-2005 09:44 PM

I think it works well in light tones, but if it's too "hot", it's a "not". Hehe. Besides, Pink is nothing to get all worked up about, there are much uglier colors that I can think of. Orange for example, is most definitely the warst color it has ever been my displeasure to lay eyes on.

Dino 07-06-2005 09:59 PM

Dark orange is nice if it fades to yellow. And I can think of all sorts of cool things you can do with orange.

But pink is just... a dead end. What do you do with pink to make it good?

Are you joking? It's probably got to do with columbine. There's a school in Colorado or somewhere that if you say the word stupid, you can get suspended. And why the hell would pink be associated with gangsters?

ANN NEELY 07-07-2005 02:38 PM

Fucking ridiculous.

A color you wear does not say shit about your sexuality or lifestyle. It is a damn color, and wearing it does not make you a fag.

It is just how wearing black does not automatically make you a goth, and wearing a pentagram does not make you a satanist.

Get a life, seriously.

Facsimile 07-08-2005 02:21 AM

I wouldn't wear pink. I don't think it's gay, but it just looks so lame on guys.

Hobo 07-08-2005 02:24 AM

I'm indifferent to it. I'd wear a pale pink shirt. On holiday. Not here, i don't want the local scum going 'har - fag!' every three seconds.

But some men can pull it off.
