I beat the game.

I finished it about 10:30 on the 28th. I am truly amazed by this game. Lorne wasn't kidding when he was talking about the last third of the game. It was insanity! I'm sorry to say that I did not get all of the bounties alive and so I'm going to start over again today. As soon as you beat it post your thoughts here. The only downside I could see to the game was the lack of fmv's. The ones that were there were beautifull.

Fuzzle Guy 01-29-2005 06:52 AM

Your one of those people who zips through the game then.

well done anyway.

evil1 01-29-2005 09:14 AM

10 hours... omg
thats not zipping through
8 or less would be zipping

MudokonMan478 01-29-2005 09:18 AM

yeah i had a few more bounties left and i would have beet the game but i had to return it to video scene or movie gallery or whatever the hell its called

evil1 01-29-2005 09:21 AM

you were renting it
you sad excuse of a fan

MudokonMan478 01-29-2005 09:32 AM

hey i got to earn the money people dont buy it for me unless its christmas or my birthday or i did something good

evil1 01-29-2005 09:36 AM

wow
poor guy

MojoMan220 01-29-2005 10:23 AM

I agree about the lack of FMV's, but at least there's plenty of in-game movies. I felt the first part of the game was very good, but the second half is the Oddworld game we've all been waiting for.

OANST 01-29-2005 11:07 AM

It actually took me a little over 20 hours. I didn't zip through. I just played it a lot.

Dualist 01-29-2005 11:11 AM

Like I said, 50 hours of drooling. And no I have not beaten the game or played it in a bit (one of my good friends actually went on Halo 2 on Live last night, good times). But I will pick up playing it some more.

What did you think of the ending?

OANST 01-29-2005 11:48 AM

I loved it. We have all seen screenshots from it. We just didn't know it at the time.

oddguy 01-29-2005 01:21 PM

I beat the game yesterday...and WOW. I am just so impressed. And I can't help feeling extremely proud of this game, and I didn't even work on it! Imagine how Lorne must feel.

I hope this game sells like hotcakes.

Oh...and I captured all the outlaw bosses alive. The key is to lower boss stamina. However, you can't go around hitting, and then hiding while you wait for another chance to hit. Bosses regain stamina slowly, so once you start hitting, you have to keep at it.

MojoMan220 01-29-2005 01:47 PM

I beat it on the 28th, that may seem like I rushed through it, but like old and not so tasty, I played it a lot (20 hours maybe). Its almost impossible to put down after the plot twist. The ending is great, but I would have liked to learn more about Stranger and the grubbs. I just started a new game last night. I can't wait for a sequel!

ANN NEELY 01-29-2005 03:45 PM

Just beat it, in four days. Truly incredible game, the ending is awesome! I just spent six hours playing it. Boy, was my mom throwin' a fit...
I'm gonna play it agi'n!

I can't wait :( (ohh europe....)

*Immitating Strong Bad's voice*
Oh, yeah. Especially if they smelled like hotcakes!
*back to me*
Heheh. This game is awesome. I haven't beat it yet, but it's shapiong up to be more than I expected.
Was anyone else suprised (but not too suprised) by Stranger wanted for his "operation?"

tsioc 01-30-2005 04:26 PM

agreed: AMAZING!

I beat it last night... or should I say early this morning?

anyways, why can't more games be this good?

I just beat it.

Final thoughts:

In- game character model were a bit disappointing. Particularly ammo when not on the crossbow, and Wolvarks. All the other models are *good*, but they seem really blockey. But ammo and wolvarks are the blockiest (is that a word?).

Wolvark Slog Handlers are supposed to release slogs, right? So why do they release slegs instead??????

Wolvarks are tough........ I mean really tough...... when it takes 2- 3 upgraded boombats to take down a single Wolvark, there's gonna be a problem.

The final 2 Gloktigi you fight are CHEAP. One immobilizes you, the other comes over and does his tornado attack, which you cannot escape, by the time the attack is done, the other Gloktigi is next to you, and he does HIS tornado attack before you can run away, then the other Gloktigi does his again, and so on and so on and so on. You cannot escape. This just keeps repeating itself until youn die.

The Sekto boss fight was way too easy.

Outlaw boss battles are fun.

Oddworld has still managed to maintain t3h funny.

With that being said, I think this game was great and a wonderful new step for Oddworld. Keep it up, OWI.

I totally have to disagree. I thought the live ammo bouncing around and flying through the air looked great. I especially liked the bolamites. Oh, and thud slugs looked awesome too. Now that I think of it, they all looked cool.

And there was nothing wrong with the way Wolvarks looked. They weren't blocky! I think your eyes are just blocky! :p

What? I was able to take out a wolvark with one shot from my upgraded boombat.

I thought they were a great challenge. There is a way to escape though. I was able to get the heck out of there after being knocked on the ground. The key is to use the charge move(right trigger) into a run. It gets you moving at top speed in a heartbeat.

I know some have said how long it took to finish the game, but what about those of you who went all out and saved every last boss (and maybe even outlaw)?

Alcar...

When you say "saved" I believe you mean bring in alive. Well, it's possible to bring in every outlaw boss in alive, which I did, but minions are another story. Some are posted in high places that you can't reach, so when you shoot to stun, they fall to their death. Yeah, so some minions you have no choice but to kill.

The only models I was 'dissapointed' with (if you can call it that) were the outlaw minions. I wasn't for the whole "hunchback" look. But other than that it was awesome.

I am currently going through the game again to do just that

OANST 01-31-2005 09:07 AM

Did anyone else notice the shadow glitch in the game? Where you could see shadows through the floor and walls. I found that to be kind of annoying.

It's a bit like trying to finish the other games without killing a slig... impossible...
thank you Oddguy

I noticed... I was a little disappointed at first... but that quickly faded. I didn't buy the game for perfect shadows... I bought it for the characters, the gameplay, the cutscenes, and most importantly, the story.

but yeah, a little annoying.

EDIT: removed a spoiler... what the hell was I thinking?

DO NOT READ THE QUOTE IN THE NEXT POST!!!! unless you want the ending completely spoiled. my apologies.

I noticed, but a few games that I like have this, so I wasn't really bothered.

OANST 02-01-2005 08:30 AM

Don't get me wrong. This is one of my favorite games of all times. That doesn't mean it's perfect, though. By the way, I managed to get all of the bounties alive yesterday. Mcboom boom was one of the easiest which was surprising to me.

Esus 02-01-2005 08:47 AM

Jeez, I'd remove that quote sligster...
