I find it a bit strange that OWI's Twitter announced that Alf was "here to answer our questions" and then proceeded to not reply to a single tweet from the general public haha. Potentially very confusing for anyone that doesn't know what the ARG is.

Exciting. The most recent tweet from Alf saying "photographs" is intriguing. Screenshots incoming? I wonder if there will be a hunt to find them with ARG clues, or will Ed just upload them to Twitter? We'll have to wait and see. Either way, exciting times :) I wonder what their timeframe is for releasing them. I want it to be today but I'm worried it won't be for a while still haha.

Okay so I just got myself caught up with this ARG (or at least, I hope I have) and wasn't there something earlier about the "eye of the fire" or something similar? Well I decided for some reason to investigate the fire reflecting in Abe's eyes closer and found this by just increasing the saturation.
  So is it safe to say this seems pretty important? :) EDIT: Jesus, I had no idea how big those pictures would be. Sorry everyone! |

Back in the summer there were updates every other day, then it kind of went cold. There's been periods of great activity then silence for literally months. The pacing has been strange, but I guess it keeps us on our toes haha. :)

Hmm. Seems like they're openly breaking the fourth wall with the ARG stuff now. Might not be any more puzzles to solve, and just promotional stuff. Either way I eagerly await new content :)

Seems to me like they want to draw more people’s attention to the ARG, get more eyes on it. The focus on signing up for the mailing list suggests that some news will be coming by email in the near future.

I hope there is a bit more to the ARG, because like the whole original stage of the ARG where we were completing the parts on oddworld.com/soulstorm all lead to unlocking 1029.io, and nothing was really on there. And it's gone pretty much unupdated until they decided to share it with the public anyway. (I know it was fun but from like a marketing perspective, why have us solve a secretive puzzle that wasn't really publicly announced, then wait a few months with no updates and broadcast it to the world? It just all seems a bit strange.)
I mean not that they owe us anything, but it'd have been nice if there was something actually tangible for specifically us to find on there as "hardcore fans". As it stands, 1029.io just ended up giving us a link to their subscription box, and the option to sign up for emails was already on the Soulstorm site anyway. I guess the 1029.io was a bit of a reward giving us some more background into the story of Soulstorm, but I think it's fair to say a few of us set our expectations high. So perhaps the fault is with me / us. Just to reiterate, I'm not saying I or we are entitled to anything, just that it'd have been nice, really want to clarify that haha. Of course I may be getting ahead of myself and there might still be stuff to uncover yet, but it seems like the ARG never really had an ending. Again, don't get me wrong it was so much fun to crack the codes and everything, it just never really gave us a concrete unique ending. Don't mean to be a downer, I hope people get where I'm coming from. :) |
