It sucks to hear. But I'm glad nothing bad happened between you and OWI.

Hope everything works out for the best Wil! :)

STM 03-21-2016 02:21 PM

Hope you escaped those rabid fans holding you captive, Wil!

Jordan 03-21-2016 03:19 PM

Hope things are well Wil, miss you!

V_O_T 03-21-2016 04:45 PM

Was the shrink ever re-designed/ put into NnT?

The commercial gave me fucking nightmares and I loved it.

Also, i hope you got to steal some paperclips or something neato for yourself before leaving OWI heh.

Bonus question: - (this is for everyone, lil bit off topic but small responses are welcome) -

What's the most paranormal/unexplainable thing you've ever seen in your life?

Nepsotic 03-21-2016 05:39 PM

Probably that question in this thread.

This question does not belong in this thread. But feel free to start a thread about it in the off topic sub forum.

thought as much, I will start one when I get some free time :) carrying on.

No. It would have been cool, but cut into time for everything else.

I worked from home and never visited the OWI studio, so I never got a chance to pilfer from the stationery cupboard, but I still have a bunch of equipment and display materials from working conventions, that's still technically the property of Oddworld Inhabitants. Incidentally, the JAW office still has some of my personal Oddworld merch hanging on the walls and looking pretty on shelves. We're not burning each other's stuff yet, so we must be on good terms.[/QUOTE]

Why?

Wil 03-22-2016 08:27 AM

Because if anyone was working on that, they wouldn't be working on much else at the same time.

The JAW Office is a 10-15 minute drive from my house, so I'm taking this as permission to pillage and plunder as I see fit.

Wil 03-22-2016 10:38 AM

I'm not sure how you arrive at that conclusion, but sure, why not. Course you'll have to fight your way past the artists, programmers, videogame nerds... actually nevermind, just take it all.

Nepsotic 03-22-2016 10:58 AM

I'm moving to Leeds in August, can I have some stuff too?

Thank you. What was supposed to appear in New 'n' Tasty (except the Shrink)?

Is this a riddle?

No, it's just Vlam.

Vlam 03-22-2016 01:15 PM

Wil, I'm asking you: what things didn't make into the final game?

Holy Sock 03-22-2016 01:38 PM

*please

Good manners don't cost a thing, vlam!

Varrok 03-22-2016 01:48 PM

When something is free you are the product. Don't sell yourself, Vlam!

Wil 03-22-2016 02:11 PM

Honestly, I can't think of anything much that went further than an intersting idea only to be cut from the game later on. There were some camera transitions between levels in Paramonia and Scrabania, just like in AO, but they didn't make sense after the Elum run levels were added. Some areas when escaping RuptureFarms started in a different order, but that changed really early on.

There were the Molluck cutscenes, but again they never went further than ideas, treatments and some extremely amateur storyboards I hashed out.

:

()
I did propose a few extra cutscenes showing more of Molluck's emotional journey through the events of Abe's Oddysee, lifting a few ideas and scenes from the early film scripts. I got the go-ahead to script them properly on the off-chance the production schedule could fit it all in. But it couldn't. C'est la game development.

Oh! There used to be Boombats, but once they were in the game they didn't read as bats so much as indiscernable floating blobs, so we modelled bats that had the wings to pull off a proper flutter.

I could be forgetting stuff, but that's all that comes to mind this evening.

Vlam 03-22-2016 02:14 PM

Thank you very much!

I found some gum under a desk with an attached grey hair, I'm convinced it's Lorne's.

Does anyone know roughly how long before Abe that Hand Of Odd was set to take place?

E: Also I've always wondered why the Mudokon shamans we see such as Big Face are always covered in body paint like regular natives but don't seem to possess the power giving scars that Abe receives. Unless Abe's scars are just a symbol and the true power was in him all along and he just had to believe real hard~

Does anyone know what is the most up to date official map of Mudos / Oddworld? Or is it just that old image from years ago? Curious to see how things match up

The map from the art book is still the most up to date we’ve seen; the map of the Mongo River from SW is newer but it only shows a small portion of geography.

Here’s all the maps listed on TOGG.

STM 03-30-2016 02:24 AM

It's still worth noting that there isn't yet a confirmed canonical map of Oddworld/Mudos yet, though.

Nepsotic 03-30-2016 02:42 AM

The map on the art book makes no sense anyway, if you consider the distance between RF and Monsaic Lines, and the distance between that and Necrum.

Yeah, and I feel like Scrabania and Paramonia have such differing climates it seems a bit too easy to just slap them next to each other on the map.

Nepsotic 03-30-2016 03:36 AM

Well yeah there's that too, but mainly the fact that - how the hell is Necrum closer to Monsaic Lines than RuptureFarms is?

STM 03-30-2016 03:38 AM

Because Monsaic Lines is a self-contained micro-climate in the middle of a withering tropical jungle. Pine trees and palms can go exist!

Wil 03-30-2016 06:13 AM

Questioning the canonical accuracy of the Oddworld Map, what kind of massive nerds do that?

Nepsotic 03-30-2016 06:46 AM

All I'm saying is, if Abe can get to the Lines from RF in a couple of minutes, why did it take him a day to get to Necrum from there?

It’s entirely possible Monsaic Lines is much further from Rupturefarms than it appears. After all, Biface did some mystical shit when Abe was out cold, perhaps he transported him there? Abe also returns to the Free-Fire Zone via bird portal so we don’t get to see the return journey.

Nepsotic 03-30-2016 11:00 AM

That's a good point actually, but I wouldn't put it past the Glukkons to build a giant facility right next to a sacred Mudokon temple.

Which one of those is from the Artbook? There are two versions with the same general layout but different location placements.

Do we have any information about the Investors (aside from that they live underground and are hella evil), or what they look like? Need it for RP-research purposes.

Only this AFAIK. I don't think they're just one species, though.

fleas in suits and ties, tape-worms with lapels;
This was ridiculously funny to me for some reason. Did I ever mention that I love hearing Lorne talk about his worldbuilding?

Thank ya for digging that up, that's at least a good indicator for me.

The investors are also mentioned here:
