OANST: Just stop posting in here. We know that you're only doing it to get a reaction, and I'm disappointed in the rest of our members that they fall for it every time. |

that'd be interesting. |
He was the whole universes most wanted at one point but then he used a fuck off massive MiB mind-eraser pen and everyone forgot who he was. Convenient as hell.
oh i've got one of those
One of what?
A mind eraser pen. It's just a normal pen, but such is his skill that he can write a short missive so awful that it can wipe away memories. It's the brain's defence mechanism, the same one evolved to combat the effects of Vogon poetry.

So it's either fewer drawn out, rushed stories, or a bigger variety of 45 minute hackups.
I really don't know what I'd prefer. Did I mention that I'm hoping a new Doctor makes them change up their writing style a bit? |
We all hope, but it's unlikely.
Today I just heard the news story I'd been hoping for, for fucking ages, but never thought it would come. A whole bunch of missing Doctor Who episodes from the 60s were found, in fucking Ethiopia. I didn't even know they had a radio station. Either way, this is great, I really hope Evil of the Daleks and Power of the Daleks are in there somewhere. Anyway here's an article about it.

A friend of mine had a job which involved sitting on a boat for weeks on end not doing anything while they waited for conditions to be right to leave the harbour, and even then, to do any work. So he would download tons of films and games to his laptop in preparation for the long periods of paid imprisonment. This sounds a lot like the sixties equivalent of that.
So much yes.
Eh. There is no way it could possibly live up to the hype.
I'm going to be on a plane when it airs, then in Europe for 3 weeks on a school trip. I'm going to have to just avoid the internet until I can get back at torrent it from somewhere.
I have no particular expectations of the special, except to learn what Moffat's idea for the Hurt Doctor is. How sad that my anticipation of this program is now purely meta. But I enjoyed the trailer a whole bunch. 8/10, would watch on perpetual repeat.
Phylum, where in Europe? |

Why use BBC iPlayer? It's slow and low quality. Torrenting it is a much better option.
You can't use iPlayer in Australia unless you set up a proxy, and if I'm going to be doing the wrong thing anyway I might as well do it at high definition.
Wil, it's a school trip, so I can't really meet up with anyone :( I'm going to Germany, Prague, and Italy mainly, plus passing through a few places in between. |
I was asking to consider how you might watch it, but ok. :p
Will you have any internet access and/or a laptop/tablet/phone to watch it on? |
:
Guys, we're all going round Crashpunk's house to watch Doctor Who.
Shit.
I'm going to watch it at the Odeon in Manchester.
Is it an actual mini episode? Or is it the prologue to Day of the Doctor, because that's what I heard it was and I don't want to risk watching it just in case.
I believe it's a prequel. I don't think it's part of the episode. A lot of the recent episodes have had mini episode prequels.
I wish they made more episodes with the 8th doctor. He was pretty cool.
Listen to the Big Finish audio episodes, they're great.
Wow really. Not one comment about the 50th Anniversary.
Well I'll start off by saying it was probably one of the best episodes in a very long time. |
It was alright. I might not even switch it off if I walked in on it playing.
I'm waiting 'til I'm caught up to watch it.
this thread isn't doing it's job unless it's antagonising OANST.
disgraceful. |
As opposed to OANST, none of Doctor Who's forms were really fat.
On the other hand, most of them were quite old. And grey |
I've never seen Dr Who.
Are there any good reasons why I should? - Rexy |
Not really, no.
There's just something about Dr. Who. It's really quite hard to say what I love about it and why I enjoy it. I think the fact it's a very important show in British television and because I am British, I think I appreciate it more. Saying that. The Americans adore it...
Also you've just gotta love the iconic sound effects. |
I like pretty much anything that gets really creative or over the top (no matter how realistic or ridiculous) with what other "advanced races" may look like or how they might function. I also like time related shenanigans.
Doctor Who definitely has its moments. I'd suggest watching it with someone, though, if you ever get around to it. I find it's more enjoyable when you can talk about it while you watch it. |

It has a pretty good soundtrack.
It makes my fashion sense charming.
