Very nice, and hard to fault them for the hat.

That image has been on the door of my (shared) office for most of the last year.

Eerily prescient, this was first broadcast in 1990.

I just know this has got to be fake, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how.

I just know this has got to be fake, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how.

I know how they are usually done: Some of the bits that look attatched are in fact perfectly aligned so they appear to touch form the angle the camera is at. Also, careful lighting can make flat surfaces appear to be inclined and and vice versa. For more information, look at these:

Sorry about size, that's the only image of the bottom right one I could find. I'm shocked.

Those two taught me everything I know about impossible figures.

Oh yeah, I'm totally aware of how these sorts of illusions normally work. The thing that throws me is how he manages to make the water part of the illusion as well - not only did he figure out how to use camera angles on the structure, he also got the water to look like it was flowing uphill and pouring back to the start.

Yup, this is definitely the bumper for my Local TV Station's coverage of city council, and yup, that smug snake 8 seconds in is the Machiavellian Manipulator of a Mayor we have. He's not that bad, actually. I just think that smile is sneaky looking.

Dynamithix 02-22-2011 03:38 AM

Could be an inclined floor. Also, look at the shadows as he moves across. The section at the top right is further forwards than the rest of it, which means that the front may well be higher than the back. Also, whilke trying to look at it frame-by-frame I found this.

The base isn't flat. Other than that, I think it has to be a sloped floor.

I'm sorry, what?

Last time it was a human brain, today it's a hog pluck and removed heart. Enjoy. I know I did.

I've felt kidneys and eyeballs, and seen slaughterhouses at work. I'm unfazed.

I wasn't trying to phase you. I just thought it was neat and worth sharing. prick.

Bullet Magnet 02-26-2011 06:46 PM

I remember that way back in biology class. These days I only ever get to handle the bits of pheasant I get from the carcasses I find out and about. Making puppets of their feet by pulling on their tendons is most entertaining.

I'm assisting in a Biology class. Also, I remember doing the tendon puppet thing with a crows foot I found when I was a kid. Good stuff.

MarsMudoken 02-26-2011 09:42 PM

I get woozy at the sight of blood and organs, video games excluded.

Seriously though, puppets? That's stuff you see in a horror movie! I think all of you are sadists. No, check that, I'm sure.

ziggy 02-26-2011 10:05 PM

But because they're already dead, it's not sadism as it does the animals no harm!
