Wil 08-07-2010 02:24 AM

To keep their employees in the dark?

STM 08-07-2010 03:02 AM

Because there pupils are still sensitive too light, more so in some cases and the direct light can be painful, remember it is very rare to be completely blind and if you are, you can be blind white and black.

Wil 08-07-2010 03:41 AM

Their pupils are sensitive to light, so they have their eyes sewn shut. To prevent them from getting all that abundant bright underground mining light in their eyes. OK.

And I would sure hate to be blind white and black.

STM 08-07-2010 03:50 AM

No it's one or the other, I doubt they where blind before they got their eyes stiched, what would be the point.

Andrelvis 08-08-2010 07:10 AM

Given that tears were an essential ingredient to the brew, I would imagine that Glukkons simply took the ones who had had all tears possible extracted, stitched their eyes so they wouldn't get an infection (thus no longer being able to contribute with their labor), and put them to work on the mines 'till they die.

Josh 08-08-2010 07:21 AM

Not all muds were used to make brew.

STM 08-08-2010 11:33 AM

jah otherwise no workforce!

EDIT: just watching the AE movie, did it mean that Abe still got caught by the microbrewery and then was killed before reappearing for MO. Also, why does the brewmaster have algae on his suit.

I think the movie aired before the game. Maybe they didn't want to spoil the real ending? Also, I believe they are brew stains.

Hazel-Rah 08-12-2010 02:35 PM

OANST told me they cancelled Citizen Siege? Why, because they're working on the new game?

Wil 08-12-2010 02:39 PM

The stuff about JAW need updating but otherwise Kaboom!

Wil 08-12-2010 02:56 PM

You know, Havoc, it's redundant to post nothing but a desciption of how everyone will react to your post. It's redundant.

Havoc 08-12-2010 02:59 PM

So was your last sentence.

Wil 08-12-2010 03:38 PM

So was your pointing at the bit of humour at the end of my post and going "Hey everyone! Look at this bit of humour at the end of this guy's post! Did you notice it? Look! Look! It's right there!"

Havoc 08-12-2010 03:52 PM

Well I didn't want anyone missing out, ya know?

nuf (Lord Loki) 08-14-2010 05:34 PM

What do Scabs have? Skeleton or Exo-skeleton?

Bullet Magnet 08-14-2010 05:54 PM

Scrabs. Endo-skeleton.

nuf (Lord Loki) 08-15-2010 01:08 AM

Thanks.
Another question. http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__...mmon/blank.gif How can gabbits lungs helpLady Margaret? Gabbits are small creatures but glukkon queens are huge so they must have bigger lungs than gabbit's dont they?

Bullet Magnet 08-15-2010 03:27 AM

But she doesn't have to move much. Her oxygen needs remain at rest requirements. And gabbit lungs, as those of a marine vertebrate, are extraordinarily efficient.

Nate 08-15-2010 03:32 AM

My assumption was that the head and torso were much the same size as other Gluks and that the extra size was simply the mass of the sexual and breeding organs mounding behind her.

STM 08-15-2010 03:43 AM

Yes, sorta like ant queen and bee queens and Alcar, their abdomens swell to hold all the sperm they'll ever need.

Stranger4002 08-21-2010 09:07 AM

I have a question; it might sound kinda stupid, but It doesn't appear to be in any of the previous threads I've seen nor the F&Q.

My question is; why exactly is there Industrial creatures and devices (by that I mean mines and moving bombs etc.) in Native environments in AO and AE? I know in MO and SW; Industrials often tried to take native's land for themselves, but what is the purpose of their presence in places like the Mosaic Lines, Scrabania etc.? Are they too trying to take the land for themselves like in MO and SW? Are they hunting down Abe? Are they hunting for Scrabs and Paramites? Or are they even looking for native Muds they can take as slaves?

MeechMunchie 08-21-2010 11:41 AM

It's just outposts for launching hunting parties and keeping an eye on what the natives are doing.

STM 08-22-2010 04:03 AM

Or that their looking for areas to industria-form

EDIT: I just found proof that BS and S'moBS isn't just drivel, it really does mean bull shit and s'mo bull shit, the spanish gamespeak is chorradas and mas chorradas which literally translates to more crap and more crap or if you are barcelonan, shit and s'mo shit

Lord Stanley 08-30-2010 05:36 PM

Is Munch decently strong with his arms? I know he can get around pretty well in his wheelchair, but his arms are so skinny, and he pulls levers with his mouth.

Alf Shall Rise 08-30-2010 05:37 PM

I would assume that Munch's arms are rather fragile and weak, since they're incredibly small and thin, especially compared to the rest of his body.

Lord Stanley 08-30-2010 05:39 PM

Abe's whole body is skinny, so does that make him weak all round? We already know he's weak in the brain...

Sekto Springs 08-30-2010 11:11 PM

Abe is actually quite muscular. Not ripped, but he's been doing back-breaking labor his whole life. He's by no means a weakling. He can break open metal locks by slapping them, and other mudokons are capable of killing themselves by smacking themselves in the head.

Jordan 08-31-2010 02:19 AM

You have to remember that Munch uses the wheelchair to get around sometimes, and that must give him some upper body strength throughout the game.

There have been quite a few fictional alien races that have been based on the physique of a Massai warrior or basketball player (Kroot, anyone?). They are muscular, but not bulgy; they've got muscles like steel cables that jerk taut. It gives a more unearthly quality.

They dont have to have super massive muscles, they can be different, more powerful (it's ODDworld), but on the other side, our muscles are powerful, so powerful, that if they retrain maximally they could broke our bones (un)hopefully our brain has some kind of a reistrant. But if a shot of adrenaline happens single man can lift a car (I read about a person that was under a crashed boulder (she was climbing), and she lifted it, and managed to throw it off, later they weighted the rock, and it was about 700 kg.

Mudokon_Master 09-05-2010 12:37 AM

I'm sorry if against all ODDs, this question has been answered already. I just want to know why Abe isn't affected by Happy Gas in AO and AE.

lismati 09-05-2010 01:12 AM

Maybe he is strong willed or something. (I know real laugh gas doesn't depend on strong will, but it's ODDworld, doesn't it?) BTW It bothered me a while ago, too.

Nate 09-05-2010 03:09 AM

Probably for the same reason that brew doesn't effect him. Either he's protected by the scars, or the inoculative effects of narrativium.

Bullet Magnet 09-05-2010 05:15 PM

He knows to hold his breath. Or perhaps it's difficult to exhibit the effects of intoxication when your limbs are being flicked around by some unseen inter-dimensional puppet master.

ledsnipe 09-05-2010 11:02 PM

Why does abe and munch have their own moon and stranger doesnt ?

Phylum 09-05-2010 11:25 PM

Abe and Munch are 2 of 5 heroes from the Oddworld Quintology.

Stranger is a bonus.

EDIT: Nate's right.

Stranger is another story.

Nate 09-06-2010 12:39 AM

SW isn't a bonus game, because it's not related to the Quintology at all. It stands alone, seperately.

Bullet Magnet 09-06-2010 03:01 AM

His moon is orbiting the wrong planet in the wrong galaxy several million years previously, when it was destroyed by its sun going supernova. It existed by chance, not due to any mystical influence.

A more important question is: why could we never see Abe's moon in Stranger's Wrath? From an artistic perspective it would have made the game feel more like Oddworld than the inclusion of the entire original cast.

STM 09-06-2010 07:55 AM

Perhaps, due to the size of oddworld, you can only see the moon depending upon where you stand. It would make sense, you also have ot take into account the orbit in that it might come closer and further away from oddworld like deimos and phobos do to Mars.
