Why don't mudokons in New 'n' Tasty have hair? Someone told that before but I can't remember, sorry...

Phylum 02-03-2015 12:51 AM

The textures looked low quality at 4k resolutions, so they ditched the hair altogether.

Holy Sock 02-03-2015 02:03 AM

It's supposed to mirror real world examples of creatures changing due to their environment. Like salmon losing their colour in salmon farms. So the Mudokons only grow their feathers, and become greener, once they start living in their natural environments.

Abe's different because he's a Mudokon Messiah or something...

But natives don't have hair too

Holy Sock 02-03-2015 02:27 AM

They do. Just watched a video of Monsaic Lines gameplay to double check.

I watched a youtube's video showing all NNT's movies and natives don't have hair in those movies! I saw they do in the gameplay.

Holy Sock 02-03-2015 03:47 AM

Maybe they're recently rescued Mudokons? Or, more likely, I supposed it's a goof.

abe being different makes sense since he already was so different.

I really want an AE emotion t-shirt. Can I still use the catalog in the manual to get one? If not where can I?
Edit: shit, sorry delete this

SIADmander 02-28-2015 12:06 PM

Redbubble has some fan-made shirts, but that is kind of copyright infringement.

The most wishful thinking ever. That catalog is over 10 years old.

Hopefully in the future, OWI can put together a merch store. I for one would love some new official Oddworld merch. :)

Would it not be the greatest thing ever if a 16 year old catalog still worked?

Does Abe have a dick under his loin cloth?

Varrok 04-29-2015 01:27 PM

Depends on whether you read fan fics.

He presumably has some organ to urinate through. It's probably just a cloaca, though.

Bullet Magnet 04-30-2015 08:33 AM

There's no such thing as "just" a cloaca, Nathan.

Nate 03-18-2016 07:15 PM

Holy crap it's been almost a year since anyone posted in this thread. Reviving!

FrustratedAssassin 03-19-2016 01:29 AM

Hi

STM 03-19-2016 02:56 AM

Okay, the reason I wanted to post here in the first place: I was reading that the Magog Cartel are pretty low down in the peking order in terms of corporate prestige; they're the McDonalds of Oddworld; creating low quality, low price products for the Khanzumerz and most people wouldn't so much as sniff at their products. As far as being crooks go, they're small time.

I'm interested to know that if this massive evil collective is really pretty minor, do we know anything about who the fuck any of the bigger, badder guys are?

kjjcarpenter 03-19-2016 03:03 AM

I can't give you a link, but rummaging around my own memory, I seem to remember Lorne mentioning the investors of these companies being the arch-villians of the series. Ergo, it's not so much the bigger companies we should be thinking about; it's the folks financing them.

But we know almost nothing about who these investors are either, except that they live deep down within the earth and that even Maggie won't go near them. After Molluck's trial, she purportedly forces her son to go and try to explain to the investors why the Magog's stock prices are so low, refusing to do it herself.

Vlam 03-19-2016 03:35 AM

:

But then, ultimately, I want to show who everyone’s masters are. And eventually those masters go down. There are scenes in the film I want to do where Mullock, after he fucked up and he’s being taken to the boss and he passes his mom who says “You blew it,” and he has to go down and meet the investors. They live underground; like how I said about how the world is separated. He takes an elevator ride down 1700 storeys and a little midget guys picks you up as an escort, but as you go down and the temperature increases, they’re getting bigger and bigger, while the security guards from up above are dying and sweltering from the heat. So there’s this more mythical idea of what might be pulling the strings. And I want to embrace that in a sort of left-handed, literal way.

Damn, vlam is on the ball. Cheers.

scorptatious 03-19-2016 07:39 AM

I wonder what exactly inspired the creation of paramites and scrabs? I can probably take a guess at their names obviously, I was thinking more real life influences for their behaviors and design.

The scrabs like to duke it out and kill each other when they are in close proximity. So, I assume they are all males fighting for alpha status?

If that's the case, I wonder where the females are. I get they're nesting within the temples, but as far as I know, we never actually get to see any.

Plus, I wonder how the creation process went when making their designs. I always kinda liked how the mandibles on the Paramites look like fingers.
