I'm sure they could set some kind of in-game flag for achievements that is checked in menu screens to update the "real" Steam achievements.
Also, I would like to see minimalistic achievements. You could even use them as little memorials, especially if you don't get them until in menu. I could enjoy looking through a list of achievements with the name of an area and some artwork as a reminder that I finished it. No corny subtext, no "break 50 pots". You could even do away with the names and just go with images. |

No, I mean that obtrusive Achievement Get! messages should only occur in the main menu.
|
Oh, I don't think that's possible without turning off in-game notifications in Steam.
|
I'm sure it's possible. The game realises that the achievement criteria has been fulfilled, but it doesn't trigger the Steam achievement. It could sit on the information somehow until you return to the main menu then sort out the Steam end of things.

Binding of Isaac doesn't update achivements until you use the exit menu.
Which is why you should never Alt-F4 out of that game. |
It did for me for most of the time

Or just have achievements for secret areas/none at all. |
I don't understand what you mean, you mean that you get an achievement only when you make significant progress? If so, then yes, that's horrible.
|
I don't understand all this negativity towards achievements.
On my monitor, which has a max resolution of 1920x1080, steam achievement popups are about 1 to 1 1/2 inches long on the bottom right side of my screen. If anything, I have trouble seeing when I get an achievement at all.. And it's not like they make sounds or are obtrusive in any way, at least not on Steam.. |
Oh no, I love achievements. If you remember I made that thread about Oddworld 'cheves.
It's just sometimes I don't want to see them; especially if you have a shite PC with the game at a low resolution like me. The pop-ups are HUGE! The whole immersion thing is understandable as well. |
About the penis, you mean?
|
I...what?
