For what I played, Sonic COLOURS's cutscenes were yes annoying but no worse then any other Sonic game. Sonic is very verrry cheesy.

Colors is spelt differently in some countries, get the fuck over yourself.

Dynamithix 03-12-2012 09:55 AM

Maybe he meant that the game's title is actually Colours rather than Colors? I wouldn't know anyways, haven't played it.

Manco 03-12-2012 10:37 AM

The game’s title actually does vary by region.

MeechMunchie 03-12-2012 10:59 AM

Where was it made?

Ridg3 03-12-2012 11:07 AM

Still playing Dark Souls. Need to know something, how much people here plays the game? I feel that it's a game that can invoke some great discussions.

Anyways, I've finally finished the laggy, dark, soul destroying Blighttown and I tell you one thing, I ain't making my way back there in a hurry. And, disregarding some friends advice, I went into the catacombs to kill what had to have been the sorriest excuse of a boss fight, The Pinwheel. At least I can kindle past +10.

Next task is Sen's fortress and that's a cunt as it is to get through... I did find Sir Onion (Mmm) head in there. He's really down at the minute. I might kick him off the edge unless I need him for anything?

*raises hand*

Also, don't you dare kill Siegmeyer (Onionman)! He'll give you a shield and a miracle later on if you do what he says.

Ridg3 03-12-2012 11:52 AM

Awesome. Normally I don't make a habit out of killing NPC's. Except for the Crestfallen Warrior. He became a dick... a hollow dick. Oh, and Knight Lautrec because my friend said that he turns into a major dick hole. And Solaire because I didn't like him.

Dynamithix 03-12-2012 12:19 PM

Not liking Solaire? How's that even possible?! Anyways, about Lautrec, you should've actually let him kill the firekeeper of Firelink Shrine and when you would've gone to Anor Londo, you could have killed him and his two buttbuddies and you would've gotten his armour. It's pretty badass. But anyways, the ring he drops is pretty much one of the best rings in the game.

For what I played, Sonic COLOURS's cutscenes were yes annoying but no worse then any other Sonic game. Sonic is very verrry cheesy.

The voice acting in SA was terrible but I could tolerate the annoying characters (Amy Rose and Big the Cat) a thousand times over those two sidekick robots in Colors. Not to mention the fact that Big was only in SA for like 5 mins and Amy didn't take away from the awesome cutscenes she was in.

You know what else is wrong with Colors? Sonic. His personality in this game is not congruent with his character. He's too nice, he talks too much, and he never gets serious. I like Sonic better when he's portrayed as someone who's a bit: reserved, rude, and plays by his own rules. Also Sonic should get serious when things get dramatic, you could have gallows humor but every scene between Sonic and Eggman were like slapstick skits. I guess it's just the attitude of the whole game, I mean just look at the opening in Colors, it's super bright and set to uplifting music; the opening in SA was epic and set to a cool rock anthem. Sonic could be cool while still be appropriate for all ages. IDK I guess they wanna appeal to everyone but I bet most kids would rather have something epic and funny. It just annoys me to see Sonic identity violated like this. i'm not saying make it darker I'm saying make it cooler.

That being said, Sonic Colors is an awesome game and putting Sonic back on rails was a great idea! They should use the gameplay and level design as a template for future Sonic games. :) Very happy I bought this game!

Sorry if I rambled a little.

Crashpunk 03-12-2012 01:02 PM

I still stand by my comment that it's no worse then any other Sonic game but I know what you mean.

I killed him pretty much for his ring. Having that early on in the game help out a shit tonne and allowed me to focus more on my faith and resistance stats.

Need to find the ring though that makes the user silent when he moves, my friend said that Griggs has one and if you kill him he drops it, but I want to get all of his wares before I decide what to do with him.

Well it's no worse than anything made from 2004-2008 yeah, I'll give you that. But yeah, got up on a bit of a soapbox there and wasn't really directing that at your comment.

  • Sonic has never really been portrayed as a serious character; even in the “darker” (pfft) games in the series he’s always been a smart-mouthed easygoing dude.
  • The Sonic series should never be serious. This is the direction Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic 2006 took, and it was pretty much a horrible embarrassing dip in quality.
  • Sonic is a blue hedgehog and he fights a mad scientist shaped like an egg. This does not lend itself well to an edgy, gallows-humor tone.

What I’m saying is the series really works as a light-hearted, cheesy, non-serious thing, and you are terrible and wrong.

Hazel-Rah 03-12-2012 01:11 PM

It worked in Sonic Adventure

Manco 03-12-2012 01:16 PM

Sonic Adventure was poorly paced, the characters were one-dimensional and poorly voiced, and even then Sonic wasn’t anywhere near what you describe.

It also aged horribly and is now cringeworthy to play through.

OANST 03-12-2012 01:16 PM

Sonic has always been a shit game series. Always. Shit. Assways.

Japan

Come on MM.

EDIT: By this logic you're all wrong and it's Karāzu.

Hazel-Rah 03-12-2012 01:36 PM

I thought Sonic Generations was excellent BTW. One of my fav games of 2011.

OANST 03-12-2012 01:37 PM

I haven't played Sonic since his Mega Drive incarnation (when he was still good). The rights could've been acquired by Cuba for all I know.

But yeah, Karāzu it is.

Daxter King 03-12-2012 03:48 PM

The fact that Sonic Generations without a doubt sold more than Rayman Origins makes me sad.

Mr. Bungle 03-12-2012 03:53 PM

My brother bought Sonic Generations the other day. I've played a few of its levels and I gotta say, it's pretty damn good for a a modern Sonic game. Now, It's no Sonic Adventure but you can really tell Sega is trying to make a genuinely fun game here, rather than a lame, convuluted story and glitches up the ying yang.

But yeah, Rayman Origins totally kicks its ass in terms of which I'd rather play. The multiplayer alone justifies this.

Manco 03-12-2012 11:58 PM

I’ll come out and say I enjoyed Generations far more than I did Adventure. I never played Adventure until I bought it on Steam last year, and I think without a nostalgia filter the game is awful. The controls are too sensitive, the camera is screwy, the dialogue and story are atrocious (but who cares about those), and the levels are poorly paced.

Generations is a much slicker game, and much more streamlined.

Also, Generations sold 1.6 million copies, Origins sold only 50,000 in its first month. Kind of sad, but then a) 1.6mil isn’t huge for a series as big as Sonic, and b) “Ubisoft revealed that the game has been profitable and that they feel it ‘has the capacity to become a long-term seller for the company.’”

Isn't that, like, every Sonic game?

Mudokon_Master 03-13-2012 01:17 AM

I started playing Pokemon again. To be more precise, Pokemon Emerald. I really forgot how good a game it is. I got all my friends at school back into it and now all the memories of childhood are coming back. It's just so much fun!

Furry's cannot tell the difference, not that I'm pointing any fingers of who the closet fur is here... :D

EDIT: I know someone who hates the sonic fan-base but did like Generations, crashed the first time he tried it.

Jordan 03-13-2012 01:37 AM

Sonic Generations was definitely a step in the right direction. Anything before that and after Sonic 3 & Knuckles was awesome back in the day, but now it's all pretty average and not very re-playable. Don't even get me started on Sonic Unleashed. Fuck that game. I agree that nostalgia fuels the liking for most modern Sonic games, because they aren't very well made and wouldn't do well as stand-alone games.

Dynamithix 03-13-2012 02:17 AM

Is it bad that I actually really liked Shadow the Hedgehog?

Crashpunk 03-13-2012 02:37 AM

Yes, Very.

also Sonic Generations was amazing. Without a doubt the best Sonic game since the Dreamcast days. I'm fail to see how it sucks because it is pretty much the 3D sonic levels are for once perfected.

Sonic Unleashed sucks, I brought it thinking it was finally a good sonic game and it was utter shite.
