Thanks DH :)
Yes indeed it's really shiny, more than the original for sure, but...I really really liked this effect actually, it makes him "alive" :)

And yeah, lol, you're right, it's a slig after all ;p

Tired Glutton 04-28-2012 01:11 PM

Damn man, you've got some insane talent there, love it<3

Oddey 04-29-2012 02:51 AM

That's amazing. There is no other word for it. I was expecting it to be good, but that is just awesome.

Phylum 04-29-2012 03:05 AM

As I said on Facebook, it looks more like a slig than a slig does.

LauricGK 04-29-2012 01:25 PM

Thank you :)

I think I will reduce the "shiny" part, just a little bit ;)

Then I'll texture the second slig, and the third one...oh, yeah, there will be a third one !

Now, I let you speculate on who will be the character I'll make next...

Tired Glutton 04-29-2012 01:34 PM

Very much looking forward to seeing them, given it's all industrial at the moment, I'm thinkin' a Glukkon

Oddey 04-30-2012 09:40 AM

I'd opt for a Greeter myself. How long does it actually take for you to make these? That is, making the model, and texturing it. I'd say it looks like a very lengthly process, or at the very least looks worthy of it being a very lengthy process.

LauricGK 05-01-2012 12:13 PM

Well, the flying slig was very long to make (about a month, working like 3 or 4 afternoon in the week) but that was because of the fact that Zbrush was something new to me ; Make a flying slig today would take only few days I think. The texturing part is the most easier part for me (only one afternoon for the complete flying slig). But his skin is quite simple to reproduce actually...

LauricGK 05-02-2012 07:46 AM

The second slig is coming very soon ;)
Hope you'll like it !

LauricGK 05-02-2012 08:35 AM

Here is the texture of the poster holding by the flying slig.

I repeat, I do not own any of these designs. I just reproduce them as simple fan art ! Oddworld Inhabitants kings ! ;-)

EDIT: I used this as a reference

Varrok 05-02-2012 09:03 AM

Sorry to say that, but it should be "Extremely"

LauricGK 05-02-2012 09:09 AM

Hmm...I don't know what you're talking about...

Thanks Varrok ;-))

MeechMunchie 05-02-2012 09:32 AM

What does "200% Mudokon" mean?

Varrok 05-02-2012 10:05 AM

2 Mudokons, I bet.

LauricGK 05-02-2012 12:14 PM

Here is a preview. Details have not been worked in high resolution, just a preview

http://www.affectueusement-votre-eco...o/r22-pres.jpg

And yes, it means that he worth 2 mudokons instead of only one (According to the Glukkons) :)

Oddey 05-03-2012 03:52 AM

Against that black background and with those eyes, that slig looks really menacing. In an awesome way.

LauricGK 05-03-2012 04:53 AM

I add a small red light for this "menacing" thing, I think this helps a lot
PS: the gun is a little bit too dark I think (Well, the black background doesn't help for sure)

LauricGK 05-04-2012 09:18 AM

Hey guys

I just had fun this afternoon with my photoshop ; I mean, now that we have made a lot of details, we can make every type of scene we want ! Here is a try :

http://www.affectueusement-votre-eco...o/r23-pres.jpg

I don't really like this picture (Ugly details like the eye, bad colors) but it was just to show you the possibilities. Of course I have a precise idea about the final scene, but, I will surely make some extra small scenes like this one i'm just showing you :-)

I've just made some small modifications on the slig, and I can say now it's finished. I'll show you the final result tomorrow (The slig above isn't exactly the final result, no rotors yet, etc...)

Scraby 05-04-2012 12:11 PM

O_O
............

Plus rep+

Varrok 05-04-2012 12:14 PM

How does it feel to be almost as awesome as me, but without about 500 posts, LauricGK?

LauricGK 05-04-2012 12:46 PM

You mean, the rep power with the green icons? This is good I suppose ! Nice ! :-)

Next time, I'll prepare you some surprises...hehe :)

STM 05-05-2012 07:58 AM

MOAR REP! I actually can't rep you, apparently I repped you recently. Nevertheless, holy fuck, this is absolutely amazing. And I thought you colours were exceptional! O.O

Oddey 05-05-2012 11:09 PM

Looks crazy good!

LauricGK 05-06-2012 08:14 AM

Thanks guys!
I'll show you very soon the two final pictures from both sligs I'll use in the scene.

Cheers !

Ridg3 05-07-2012 06:14 AM

I hate that I don't visit FC often, I always miss things like this. I'm impressed with everything you've done so far, really taken aback and if I had skills like yours I'd be a really happy man. There were a few things that I thought though could have been done to prevent repetivity but whenever the scene was rendered with the trains, cargo conveyer, lighting and the Slig it didn't even matter, you wouldn't have noticed it.

Really, really, really great work and I say this as your newest fan who has succummed to the difficulty of 3D modelling and is, massively, impressed with your modesty.

LauricGK 05-07-2012 07:10 AM

Okay Ridg3, that's a relly nice message you just wrote here !
First of all, thank you very much :-) Always a pleasure to see new people giving their opinion about all of this !

Then, with the size of the 3D scene, I had to make some "repetivity", you know, otherwise I would get this work finished in 10 years ^^' But as I use to say, the Photoshop part will make (I think, I hope) everything better :-)

Thank you again

Hulaabeo 05-08-2012 03:05 AM

Can't think of much else to other than: Wow.

+REP!

LauricGK 05-08-2012 06:45 AM

Thank you ! ;-)

By the way, I'm glad too see how much views this thread have. And how it grows up every day, that's really impressive. If you people are happy with these stuffs, then I'm happy too ;-)

LauricGK 05-10-2012 10:34 AM

Hey guys

As I said, here are the two final flying sligs I'll be using in the final scene ; I corrected the lighting, body position, and a lot of things...

I quickly created this presentation picture because I just wanted to give to this WIP a...correct presentation ;-) Click to see larger version.

You might don't see any differences between these pictures and the previous ones, but for me, it's like day and night :-)

Cheers !

Varrok 05-10-2012 11:05 AM

Yay, shiny slig
