Oh yeah, we use Ender Pouches for additional storage, sorry about that.
|
Well mine is now marked with 3 purple and is separate from yours so it shouldn't be a problem now. :)
|
It's confusing because the original enderchests (in Tekkit) are colour-coded. The later (vanilla) enderchests have no colour-coding and are utterly separate per player. I don't blame Mojang for wanting to keep it simple.

Hey everyone, I just have a small announcement/question.
Me and 4 friends would like to make some random Minecraft videos and they are looking for a decent server to play on. I offered to do it on our server since it isn't being used that much anyway, and most of them are from the US so it would take place outside of our usual timeslot anyway. I can load a different world during the time we are recording so our own world remains unaffected by any of their actions. It would just mean that the vanilla server is probably unavailable for regular play after midnight on certain days (which I will announce, obviously). For everyone's peace of mind I will be adding these friends to the whitelist only shortly before starting and will take them off right after we finish so the rest of our server remains private as usual. I hope this is okay for everyone. If you have some concerns please let me know. |
As long they leave me stuff alone and the tekkit server is functional, then I'm perfectly fine with it.
|
I don't see why not if it means the servers get used more. They have been quiet lately.
(I'd come on more, but you know why I'm not seen as often lately) |
I'm cool with that :)
I need to get back onto the server. I have to start fixing all my Redstone contraptions, The doors outside my fort won't close from the inside and the Temple of Time doors have been broken since the lastest update. I might need some help with it. |
I'm taking a break from my cube anyway, so it's fine by me.
|
Would you believe that the reason I'm not playing Minecraft as of late is because I'm too busy doing Minecraft Videos?
|
I would believe that, yes.
|
You and Wil need to come onto the OWF Server sometime when your recording. It would be fun :)
|
Indeed it would. Show off our stuff a bit.

Two days ago, I decided to return to the good old server myself. Initially, when I spawned at the Longhouse at startup, I wasn't sure what I could still do: we have all kinds of cool stuff, resources, transportation, a vault for the dragon egg and stuff. So I decided to head back and revisit places just for reminiscence.
I got to Ma'Spa, had a look around, was stunned by a huge wooden temple building which was completely new to me. Then I discovered that the old stone building next to the inn was turned into a communal storehouse of sorts, which still had some blocks missing that I immediately finished. Then I went farming birch trees and put some items into the Wooden items chest. I guess that's when I realised that, seeing that MC doesn't really have that value of novelty for me anymore, the only fun I get out of it is when I interact with other people and their creations. Maybe the rest of you feel like that as well, which might be the reason for why the server is so unused these days. We had some ideas going on for community events, right? Why don't we organise something like that again (that is, when the server is not used for this Dutch-American collaboration that was mentioned, with which I'm OK with btw)? The Spleef arena Splat build hasn't really been used that much, for instance. |
I've had plans to organize certain events on adventure maps and such but never really got around to doing more than just thinking about it. I agree though, Minecraft loses its charm when you've built just about everything there is to built and killed your 1 millionth creeper. I think that's why a lot of people now play Tekkit instead. So many more possibilities.

Hey, could somebody log in and save me? :( I'm trapped underground
EDIT: It's okay, a zombie just came and killed me :) |

Alternative solution: dig up?
|
Minecraft Server has been updated to Craftbukkit 1.4.2 R0.1 |
How do you make a Stargate? Or is this exclusive to any rank above Regular?
|
On the Tekkit server you can build the shape but it requires a moderator to 'activate' it.
|
It's impossible to build the shape on the normal server. So don't try.
|
Ah, alright. ._.
|
Um, time is frozen in Ma'Spa. The sun rises a way, then hops back, then rises a way, then hops back...
EDIT: In fact, gravel, villagers, squids, minecarts and, I assume, anything that works via time seems to be broken. |
Which resident Super-villain has been up to no-good this time?
|
Oh no! The Great Clockmuncher is up to his old tricks!
|
That's my fault, sorry. I delved too greedily and too deep.
|
Server has been updated to Craftbukkit 1.4.2-R0.2. This should fix the time issue, it was a bug in the previous build. |
Problem is still there.
|
Server Announcement I tracked down the time problem to the server being at full (100%) memory load all of the time. Since there was no more memory to work with the world appears laggy and ticks are not being processed the way they should. Since this is often a plugin issue, I started to isolate all the plugins one by one and have narrowed it down to the plugin responsible. Which unfortunately is the Dynmap plugin that provided that fancy map I posted earlier. Apparently it is too resource intensive to run on our small server so I have disabled it. As such the map itself is not available anymore either, which is a shame. The server runs smooth again now though and is running at about 75% memory. Hope this fixes all issues. There should also be a new Craftbukkit build for Minecraft 1.4.4 soon. Currently there is only an unstable Dev build. |
So... I've been looking at the server activity and noticed that both servers are pretty much abandoned at this point. Some people occasionally log in to do some stuff, but when those two status bars in my signature tell you there is no data available, that means no-one has logged in for over 24 hours.
As much as it pains me to say this, I think Minecraft's high tide days are over. At least on OWF. And I'm trying to decide what I'm going to do with the servers. I'm not going to keep paying for a server hardly anyone plays on anymore, so at the moment I'm very inclined to shut them both down at the end of this billing period (which runs out on december 15th). Obviously I'd backup both worlds in their final state and I'd happily send the worlds to anyone who wants them (keep in mind, very big files). But if only 1 person logs in for a few hours a week, I would like to call it quits unless someone can give me a reason not to? I haven't made a final decision yet, but I thought I'd share my feelings on this with anyone who still cares. |
Well if the interest isn't there, then it isn't there... I've come on to the Tekkit server occasionally when I've felt like playing more Tekkit, but I rarely see anyone - But besides that, I spend a lot of time making that RF map so don't really feel like playing Minecraft normally.
It's a shame, but yeah, Minecraft may have had its day with us OWFers. It was fun while it lasted, from March '11... Perhaps we should've made the servers more open sooner back when Minecraft was new and exciting. I guess we have the Steam group if people still want to play stuff together. |
Well, if it’s done it’s done. No sense in paying for an empty server.
You could always throw the world files up for download; maybe in a couple different places as an added measure. There’s a lot of history in them blocks and it’d be a shame to lose it. Maybe make one last set of hi-res map renders, too? So everyone can see the full scale of what was built. |
Don't worry about my Borg cube, I never thought I was going to finish it. Maybe I'll just fill in that top layer so it's neat.
|
That's a shame. I thought about playing with you guys, but i never bought minecraft and i never found it worth buying either. It was fun when i first discovered it, but that quickly worn off. I could never play it for a long term.
I hope you guys find something new to invest in, i might actually join in next time. Really wished i would have for this. |
Actually if the server does get closed down, how about folks give it one last send-off? A marathon collaborative build, a couple rounds of custom games, hell even just a group attempt at surviving a few nights and putting a house together.
|
We could run around and try finishing off peoples unfinished buildings. If we all pulled together I wonder how far we could get on the cathedral and the underground city excavation by then.
|
I never finished my dragon egg adventure...
It'd be sad to see it go, but I recognise the sense of the decision. But it'd be nice to have some sort of sendoff party. Preferably one that doesn't involve destroying everything, as that would really break my heart. Slightly gutted now I start thinking of all the things we left unfinished. But it got old, and when attention started waning it just became less fun. |
It's a shame because I've had so many great memories on the server. But yeah Minecraft to me is old. As much as I love the game, I really don't know what to do anymore. and as for Tekkit, I'm terrible at it.
I think if we want to save the server, we should get back on it. Maybe start a new world? Whatever happens to the server, I would love a copy of the worlds. I don't want to lose the Temple of Time and my Wario Fort :( |
The problem with a new world is that people will get bored with it sooner rather than later, and in the end you'll only delay the inevitable... After a month or two, the server will be empty again. Like with what happened to the Tekkit world.
Perhaps if we held PvP, competitive team-based, or survival events, maybe interest would peak again - But then it's difficult to find times where everyone could be online at once, as previous events have shown. |
I would love to try out some adventure maps, maybe with Wil and Glitch :)
