Dust is actually pretty fun when you get past all the furry-centric style of it. I hate that part of the game, but the gameplay itself is pretty solid. I dunno if I'm gonna see it through to the end but it's a fun little game to play when I'm bored and just wanna hack n slash.
Currently I'm playing the 3DS version of OoT. Master Quest though, because I've played the original game so many times it's not even fun anymore. It's quite tricky, to say the least. Jabu-Jabu's belly really had me stumped a few times. Especially the cows. Wtf. |
Oh, I have a very slightly interesting story about that.
I tried to play OoT for my first time in 9th grade, because I just discovered emulators and OoT was a game I had wanted my whole life. But, I didn't even know master quest existed and being unexperienced in computers at the time, I had downloaded two different ROMs. I played up to the first death mountain dungeon and halfway through that when I finally saved the game and went to bed. The next day I loaded up the game and opened my save file, but nothing was quite the same. I mean, it looked the same, but the dungeon layout changed. Turned out I had played the Master Quest version up until that point, and that the two versions of the game had slightly compatible save files, as I just kept playing and then the save became corrupt after adult link. |

Ive never had this problem. |
Just 100% Dust in about 17 1/2 hours. Had an absolute blast. Replaying it on hardcore to get the plat now.
|
It's not because they are talking animals. It's because they look like the talking animals that someone on Deviant Art jerks off to.
Terrible character design, and awful dialogue made me eww gross quit in the first ten minutes. And don't double post. There's an edit button. |
:
The only thing that makes it look like a double post is that no one replied within that 24 hour period. I just didnt feel the second post related enough to the first one to justify it. Ill know for future, but I dont like having 2 seperate topics within one post. Personal preferance, but if its not tolerated ill refrain. |
Good. Good.
Also, 10 hours is a poor substitute for 24 hours. |

How do I clock? Jesus... |
I've been playing Smash 4 too. And yeah it's really great. Although it took me a while to get used to the controls. And I keep getting owned by the unlockable characters.
I mostly play as Wario, King DeDeDe, Meta Knight and Bowser. And I only play single player. I don't dare play online as I know I'll get completely destroyed by some pro dude. Really fun game. I'm eager to try the Wii U version. |
I dont have a 3DS. Ill probably pick up a 2DS (since its cheaper and I give zero fucks for 3D) for the pokemon Gen 3 remakes. But thats it. Ill play smash on Wii-u. I liked brawl a lot. I mained lucario, very strategic character. Gained power the more damage u took.
Also, I dont know if ive mentioned it, but Im a huge fighting game fan. So Im eager to get into the Wii-u version semi-competitively. |
I don't have Smash 4 yet simply because it's sold out everywhere. And I want - no, need the actual cartridge (is that still what they're called?) because I'm a fucking nerd like that. It's also cheaper, I believe.
I just got my 3DS a few days ago, actually, and was pretty disappointed to find out I couldn't dive right into Smash 4 (the demo was great!), but couldn't just go gameless so I picked up Animal Crossing: New Leaf. First time trying a game in the series so far, and it's, uh, it's adorably addicting. I don't know how much fun I'm having with it, which is an odd thing to say, but I can't really help but play it every day for at least a few hours... and it's been getting more and more interesting and endearing with each day, growing inside me like a west African virus of cuteness and charm. I'm not sure if I'll end up shelving it once I get Smash 4; it's likely considering the breadth of that game, but if I keep on playing AC I might get so into it that I couldn't bare leaving my animal friends alone in the cold. And a new espresso-addicted rabbit named Snake just moved into my town so I just gotta see where that goes! Jesus Christ Nintendo what are you doing to me? Good game though... I think. |
I used to be a massive Animal Crossing fan back when it was the DS and Wii games. And I did love New Leaf. However didn't last as long as the others. Perhaps I was drained out of Animal crossing at the time or that not many of my mates were also playing it.
I may return to it around Xmas or something. I find it's good to start again on AC when it's either a new Season, Year or event. :
It's worth saving up a bit more for a 3DS. And if you don't like the 3D, simply turn it off. |
Well all this talk about smash made me go and buy it. All I have to say is I think I love little mac. Last smash I had really loved was the original, melee was awesome, but I hadn't the console for it, and brawl felt sticky to me and just couldn't get into it. This seems to have returned the speed that was great and kept the awesome roster.

I was worried about the same thing, but the online is FIRMLY divided between 'For Fun' matches (2v2 or 1v1v1v1) that have items active and 'For Glory' which is no items and every battle is on the 'Omega' version of whatever stage you're using. I've played tons of For Fun, which is 70% balanced fights with people about the same speed as me and 15% people who are abhorrently bad or 15% incomprehensibly good. I recommend trying at least a little bit of the online, as playing against other people helps round out your skills. For Fun Team Smash is what I play the most because it's genuinely fun. For Glory is where you're going to find people who are skilled at the game to the point of the match being redundant. :

2Ds is cheaper, no 3d, and I dont care about looks. Also, I only use my vita in bed anyways, so I wont be carying it around. So itll be like having a gameboy SP again. I played Minecraft for the first time yesterday. Pretty enjoyable. I was gonna eventually try it, but a friend offered me $20 to buy it if I said I would play it, and I agreed. So ive got Minecraft on PS4. Its always been a game ive enjoyed watching, but I was skeptical as to whether Id enjoy playing it. Ill keep playing it and see if its something I put down after a few days or keep playing for weeks. |
Shade, the 3ds, either of them, are waaay more comfortable to hold than the 2ds. The 2ds feels like a store model example, where the controllers are in those protective cases that are awkward and clunky and you end up looking at the screen uncomfortably. I would avoid the 2ds at all costs, just save for the 3ds.
|
The 2DS feels like a big heap of plastic. Not a system designed for the hands. Hell, the fucking original Game Boy is more comfortable.
Again, Don't like the 3D? Turn it off. You've always been able to do that on a 3DS. It's just an option and a lot of people either don't know or forget that. And with the price, you may want to look around. But you may want to either save up for a 3DS (perhaps an original since they're cheaper) or wait for the New 3DS to come out, which is apparently the best one yet. |
But the only argument im hearing is its uncomfortable. So for me, itll be an extra hundred bucks (because Australia) for comfortability... and a feature i wont use. Ill probably only be playing pokemon on it.
Its not something Ill be playing more than a handful of games on in its lifetime. Im not a nintendo fan. never played zelda, mario, animal crossing, starfox. Ive played metroid and pokemon. Thats about it. And even then, Itll be a ways off. So, we'll see. If the 3ds gets a major price drop and the difference is only about $50, then Ill consider it. PC comes first, otherwise the 1 1/2 years of TAFE were a waste :P |
This has nothing to do with being a Nintendo fan or not. Why would it? All we're saying is the 3DS is a lot better than the 2DS.
Whatever, it's your choice at the end of the day. |
You buy the one he wants you to buy or you get the fucking hose!
|
Shadow of Mordor. STABSTAB STABBETY STABY
|
You could always just buy a 3DS second hand you know.
|
:
Like how I bought a Wii-U solely for Monster hunter. Anyways, yeah. This topic has gone on way too long :P |
been playing XCOM, the one that came with that green man gaming deal. I'd never played the originals, so I had no frame of referance, but I can say that I am very much so enjoying this one. Reminds me a little of "Full Spectrum Warrior"
|
The usual.
In the rest of the world they call that an air rocket, a mid-air rocket, or a direct rocket. In Aussie Quake it's a "sick middie". |

In some ways it's perfect, particularly with the custom characters. I've got Mii versions of Daryl Dixon, Gandalf and Boromir. I still miss some of the older characters like Mewtwo, Roy and Snake. 3DS XL is definitely the way to go. Even if you play with the 3D off (I only use it every now and then) it's a comfortable fit and I don't have to struggle to see the screen like on the DS Lite. I enjoyed AC: New Leaf as I haven't played once since Wild World. They made a ton of new changes such as being major and visiting other people's houses in Streetpass. In fact Streetpass in general is one of my favourite features of the 3DS as I do travel quite a lot across town. Took me 34 hours to beat Shadow of Mordor. Currently on the second playthrough, so far besides a few bosses all of the Uruk captains are completely different and they're dropping different runes for my weapons too. I've been watching a let's play of Alien Isolation. While it's something I wouldn't buy (linear & horror are not things I enjoy) it is quite cool to look at and is actually quite well made it seems. Updated: It also seems a bit buggy to me... for example when you hide in the lockers it seems like it doesn't work properly (unless the players aren't doing it properly). Most of the time you just get caught anyway so it seems like a false sense of security even using those. You would think you'd be able to shoot things from inside the vent where they can't reach you (I guess that's not in for balance purposes as it would be insanely easy just to camp the vent and shoot everything that comes to find you). Soon I'll probably be playing: Dragon Age Origins, Xcom Enemy Unknown, Hitman Absolution. |

Hey Shade, there are two important things you need to consider before buying whichever system. Just two. I'll ask those in a bit, but first an anecdote: I've had all three 3DS variants. 3DS, XL and currently 2DS. Understand that I got a 3DS for free about a year ago and sold it within a week simply because it didn't suit me; I found the screens had a gross warping effect whether in 3D mode or not and it was too big to comfortably fit in my pocket. I wouldn't say I found it uncomfortable to hold, but having to adjust the angle of the top screen was irritating. The 3D effects were a complete novelty and I didn't feel like they added to anything to the gameplay in the few games I fiddled around with. It felt like the prototype for something better.
The 3DS XL is simply too expensive. If it cost as much as a standard 3DS it would be ideal, and I'd be telling you to go go go, buy one now. But I bought one (used) and traded it in later that day because I really shouldn't have blown my money on a 200$ gameboy. So I got 110$ back and a refurbished 2DS. Now here are those questions. A) Are you going to be taking this thing with you wherever you go? B) Does 3D mean anything to you? Anything at all? If you answered no to any of these challenging questions, get a 2DS. It's more comparable to a PSP or Gameboy Advance than that inane clamshell design of the 3DS/XL, you hold it differently but it's a quick adjustment. Just be sure not to sit on it, that exposed screen is child-proof sturdy but not 'support a human' sturdy. |
That's not the one Crashpunk told him to buy.
What are you doing |
inb4 flame war
|
Please no. I'm not arguing over Nintendo consoles. I prefer the 3DS. Mac likes the 2DS. Buy what you want that suits your needs Shade.
I will say however, I'm sorry if I sounded like a forceful prick in the last few posts. I didn't realize it sounded rather arrogant in them. :/ :
|
Don't let him off that easy.
What are you doing |

Obviously Crashpunk is able to enjoy the 3DS to its full, hidden potential because his eyes weren't exposed to NEARLY as many tropical bee stings as mine, so y'know, take those into consideration Shade. :
I've been playing Cookie Clicker. Are you familiar with Cookie Clicker? It's a browser based resource accumulation game. It ranges from addictiveness from full on OCD 'Math Savant Micromanagement' and 'Check it once a day and get everything done in a few clicks' Check it out. Also, you don't have to pay for anything. There's no 'gimme five bucks to accelerate cookie accumulation' stuff. |
Every time I so much as step foot outside the house I drop whatever I'm holding into a Koi pond. I know the struggle.
|
So THAT'S what really happened to Nep's fish.

Noted, the 3DS XL isn't cheap but it's one of the most popular handheld devices on the market (price will go down over time and when the new models come out), it also has some amazing first-party games that will not appear on another device. Games are fairly cheap, particularly second-hand or if bought during an eShop sale. Buying a console in itself is expensive compared to say buying 10-15 games instead but the question is does it's purchase grant you anything additional to what you already have? Pokemon Y, Mario Kart 7, Smash Bros, Animal Crossing, Luigi's Manson 2... these are some incredible games to play. |
