Flash Gordon is fucking great and I recommend it even more than Birdemic
11/10 why hasn't everyone watched it yet |
Hey, don't compare it to Birdemic, Flash Gordon looks like a masterpiece in writing and visuals when compared to it
Watching True Blood with Stephanie has been interesting. The show can never really decide what it wants its tone to be. When it decides that it wants to be stupid and funny, it does that pretty well. When it wants to be serious (which is most of the time) it still ends up being stupid and funny. Basically, it's a terrible show that still ends up being pretty entertaining.

Is that the 'Southern Vampires' deal on FX/AMC?
I've been watching Bate's Motel with Amy. I watched the first episode when it first aired and I thought it a bit slow, kinda cool but slow. Any way I'm so glad I picked it up again on Netflix as we're addicted right now. The show's era is weird, I swear it wants to be a sort of strange cross between the 50s and the modern day, I might have to Wikipedia what they're going for but still, I'd recommend it. |
I also got hooked on Bates Motel. We just finished watching the first season. The only reason I wanted to watch it is because Vera Farmiga is fucking hot, but it turned out to be a pretty good show.
True Blood is a lot of southern vampires, but it's on HBO. |
Yeah, I'm on either s1e6 or s1e7 now I think, really getting interesting, even though at the moment there's been a lull after the corrupt cop died.
Ah right, I think it's the same thing, FX is the English channel for those shows. |
So, True Detective is fantastic. Speaking of HBO.
:
Hmm, well I know FX (now Fox) airs the Walking Dead, True Blood and American Horror Story.
That's weird. Two of those shows are AMC, and one HBO. I guess they must have a distribution deal.
Yeah I would have thought so, as far as I know we don't get HBO or AMC.
OANST loves his anime. loves it like a brother.
i watched Tucker & Dale Vs Evil. i thought it was fucking hilarious. have some clips. the first video is okay and spoiler-free really, but the second video is SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS so be careful. for brief context, everything they're saying is absolutely true. or at least from their perspective it's absolutely true. |
Watched it for the second time a couple of days ago. It's a pretty fun concept. I guess it's in a similar vein and has a similar feel as Cabin in the Woods (except with less social commentary about the horror genre itself.)
A sequel seems to be in the works. |
I just saw the Octodad movie. Or I might have dreamed that.
I just caught We Need to Talk About Kevin on TV.
This film is such a massive piece of shit. I have never gotten so fucking angry watching a film before. This isn't even a film. The directing is horrible, the story's horrible, the musics grating on my nerves and horrible, the characters are shit. And don't give me that "oh it was an artistic decision" bullshit. It was a shitty fucking decision. Also, a kid being a complete and total brat does not equal psychopathy. What were they thinking when they wrote half these scenes? He just jacked off and his mom walks in on him and he just turns to her, looks at her, and continues wanking with that smug ass face. What the fuck. |
Wait...you're supposed to stop when someone walks in on you?
You have no idea how badly I want to post a certain gif right now.
do it! then we'll see it and have just seen it and thus it will be on topic.
i'm a genius. i should be a cheap lawyer. |

I mean it raises really interesting questions. Like how much of it was the mother's fault versus how much was completely out of her hands, and how much the father's delusion and complete inaction contributed. Her relationship with the kid after was also really interesting to see. Particularly in the final scene. The characters were interesting (particularly the mother) and it also had some fantastic visuals. Pretty good movie all round I say. |
So apparently emotionless characters with no personality or depth are interesting now. The mother's more of a psychopath than the kid is.
:
Well then, they didn't do it very well.
I think they did it very well. Particularly with the Mother.
Really?! She was the worst. She showed less emotion than the character that supposedly has no emotions (even though he shows anger and vicousness towards his mother).
Man... you need to take a while then watch that film again...
I'd really rather not.
It warms my heart to see some incisive and well thought out debate going on in these forums. I thought we'd lost the art.
At least something's actually happening.
I watched Gravity last night.
The visual effects were just absolutely stunning. Some of the best I've ever seen in a sci-fi. I kinda wished I saw it at the cinema in 3D because the film had obvious designed 3D effects which would of looked amazing. The film was pretty predicable in places but it still made me go on the edge of my seat. The acting was top notch, Sandra Bullock really captured the feeling of being alone and scared. And the film was very short. But the length was perfect as it would of otherwise dragged on a bit. Great film. A perfect thing to watch just to escape for a little while. The documentary about Space Debris in the special features was also really interesting. |
I watched Kids, a movie about, well, kids hanging out in New York banging girls and doing drugs. Fucking disturbing honestly, especially since all the actors are like 17 at the oldest. Good film, but it was pretty sick overall.
I love the soundtrack. It's pretty much a Folk Implosion album.
Lol folk.
Chugging through Lost, mid-way through Season 2 and only had a few spoilers given away by none other than my gf's mum who just had to tell me about 'this bit which doesn't give anything that important away'. Also I watched the first five minutes of an Ayn Rand documentary. Laughed myself shitless and turned it off. |
Not 'folk', stupid dumb person. FOLK IMPLOSION!
Lol folk implosion.
That's what happened when the Wurzels filled their tractor with dark matter.
Recently watched Watchmen for the first time(The Ultimate Cut) and really loved it, even if the comic scenes dragged and it took a bit for the movie as a whole to pic up speed. It honestly felt more like a character piece for most of the film until the tail end when all the weaves started wrapping together. Honestly cant think of a superhero film I enjoyed more, definitely picking up the graphic novel soon.
I watched Gummo. What a strange film. I didn't really understand it, but I guess it's not supposed to be a plot-heavy movie anyway, just white trash people doing white trash stuff. I enjoyed it though, it was interesting to watch.
I saw Her. I really liked it, very emotional movie to say the least. Joaquin Phoenix's acting was very good.
i've been watching the second series of The Trip, called The Trip To Italy (what a transformation), but only two episodes have been broadcast so far so these clips are from the first series. basically Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon go around restaurants, eating and shit, and taking the piss out of each other. that's it for thirty minutes. some is scripted but most of their banter is ad-libbed, which is always better.
