I've actually heard great things about the new XCOM. Mostly from people who haven't really played the originals. Looks like a case of Fallout 3 syndrome.
|
People who played MO first say it's great
|
I can't imagine anyone saying that.
|
I couldn't imagine people giving such praise to Fallout 3... They're just silly sometimes
|
I like Fallout 3. That's because I didn't play the originals. Also because I love Bethesda games. Also because it's a good fucking game.
Also, explain the great reviews Fallout 3 got. And the huge fanbase. It's a good game, accept it. |
Fallout 3 is a good standalone game. And it's got *great* reviews (like 9/10 masterpiece or even more). So it's not really accurate.
And it's stripped from the elements of the original series I loved the most (e.g. good story), this is why It's not a good Fallout game and as I judge sequels by the original games and not by what it'd be if it wasn't a sequel (They called it Fallout 3 after all) I can't even classify it as a "good game". |

How long was it? |
It took me a bit over 14 hours to go through it and I did most of the sidemissions and I played very stealthily, but you can beat the game in around 6 hours from what I've heard, maybe even less if you know the shortest paths around the levels. But don't worry about the length, it didn't feel short at all and it still has tons of replay value if you're going for all the achievements (don't kill anyone through out the game etc.) and such.
|
Dark Crusade done. Sentinels are ridiculous. Their long-range lasers can fry a Hammerhead grav-tank in seconds. Just Eldar left to do now, though I might replay Chaos first.
Started a New Game+ on Bastion. The higher difficulty makes it more satisfying, and it's nice to see that they've updated the story a little too. The entire thing is supposed to be another Restoration loop, but the faint memories are slowly starting to build up. "Kid wanders into The Sole Regre- Wait, did I already... Ah, forget it." The idea being, of course, that The Kid eventually feels apprehensive enough of the Bastion's function to choose Evacuate instead. |
I really should do New Game+ on Bastion. I started it, but then life got in the way.
Mark of the Ninja is currently occupying some of my free time. Strangely, it reminds me of Oddysee and Exoddus, if only because it's a 2D platformer with stealth elements (ok, a lot of stealth). It's a bit repetitive, but I haven't bored of it yet, and the optional challenges are pretty fun to do. |
My brother purchased Dawnguard, so I've been playing that a bit. Being a vampire lord is reeeeeally cool. Crossbows are sweet too.
|
Still Bastion. Ditched my Cael Hammer for a Scrap Musket with upgraded spread and damage. I use it for knocking out anything that gets too close while my Slinger Pistols are reloading. Plus it can take out a forest of obstacles in one double-shot.
Also found the Portal easter egg. There's now a lovable turret guarding The Bastion. "I want to go home." "Who are you?" "Error: Chromatic data overload." It's funny because Portal is grey and Bastion is a technicolour dreamscape. |
Finished my second Dishonored playthrough today. No one spotted me during the campaign and I found all the Sokolov paintings, that's neat. This is like Deus Ex: Human Revolution all over again, I just want to play it through in all the ways possible. Next up, rambo-mode playthrough, I'm going to shoot everything that moves and get the worst ending possible, fuck yeah.
|
I rented Man vs Wild, only because I heard it was so fucking terrible that it was actually good.
I haven't laughed so hard in forever. Get this fucking game. Rent it, though. |
Oh god, I've seen playthroughs of it, it looks fucking hilarious.
|
It really is. If I dare say, it's the gaming equivalent of a B-Movie.
Everything is so fucking awful it's actually hilarious. The only good thing is the controls. |
So like an action oriented Deadly Premonition? That sounds fun.
|
I've been blasting through Jamestown some more lately. I've taken down every level on Divine except the last one. I'm hoping to unlock Judgement by the end of next week.
I can make it to the Heart of Mars/Conquistador, but he has some ridiculously fast, intricate bullet patterns. The slow rotating beams of death are just that extra bit of stress that completely sends me over the edge into a horrible death every single time. I made it to him with two lives left today. I think I'm going to need at least four to have a decent chance at taking him down, but the level beforehand is so busy that this is almost impossible for me to comprehend. Realistically I'm just going to have to play it until I've memorised every single bullet pattern that he throws at you. Also, fuck that very last phase of the Conquistador. The wide spread, super fast bullets kill me on every run, no matter what I do. I can't recommend this game enough if you have the concentration to play it. |
I've started today, will give more insight after done it. |
It took me 25 hours, but I finally finished torchlight 2 with my Engineer.
Now to do it all again on New Game+ mode! |
Finally found my copies of Brawl, Donkey Kong Cuntry Returns and Mario Galaxy 2.
My Wii is gonna get a lot of use in the near future. |
Some World of Warcraft and just Bejeweled.
|
How is Mists of Pandaria? I don't play WoW anymore, but I'm tempted to start playing again to explore Pandaria. It looks pretty.
|
:
|
I'm so tempted, but £30 + sub is a huge financial commitment.
Also the panda starting area was utterly underwhelming. |
I thought Cata's starting areas were pretty underwhelming. Well, the Worgen one, anyways.
Also I think the Monk class looks like a lot of fun, but it's a panda-only class, isn't it? |
:
And I really like Cata's starting zones. They were wayyyyy better than anything before with the exception of the DK starting zone. |
DK starting zone was the best ever, I played through it a few times, silly as that sounds.
I doubt that MoP tops Wrath, though. Wrath was the best, at least in terms of environment. I loved the fuck out of finally exploring Northrend. |
I'm currently playing Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD for PS3. Its the first time I'm playing the game too.
|
Currently playing Mark of The Ninja. Seems to be nice.
|
Playing through the Warcraft III campaign. I always enjoy it.
|
Found my old Ninja Gaiden Black for Xbox in my room and gave it a whirl.
So damn good. |
Well, a lot of Kirby's Dreamland 2 as I just finished recording a Let's Play of that, but also went back to Bomberman 2 on the DS. Oh boy, forgot how much fun a Bomberman game with so much customization was, definitely one of the best of the series.
|
I'm playing Crash Bandicoot 1 and Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath.
|
I was at a local event today that had some upcoming games and electronics so I got to try out Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale, Rayman Legends and Halo 4.
Surprisingly enough, I really liked the Playstation Smash Bros, even though some of the characters are OP as fuck (Nathan Drake, Kratos). The levels are pretty great in my opinion. The roster could do with a few more characters but honestly, there is a lot of variety in it already. Rayman Legends was very lovely looking on a big screen and controlling Murphy with the Wii U pad was pretty fun, so that and Zombi U are a few reasons I might get a Wii U. Too bad I didn't get to try Zombi U though, they had that there as well but of course it's rated 18+. I wasn't too impressed by Halo 4, that being said, it was only a limited multiplayer component of the game that was available for people to play. They demo'd the Spartan Ops missions and a very small part of the campaign on stage though and that looked pretty fun. Still not convinced to buy the game though. So yeah, fun day. I guess. |
Lucky, you already played RL. :D
Its a pity it got delayed for Q1 2013... |
Recently finished Dead Space for the first time. That is one good game. Very atmospheric, and luckily avoids overdoing screamer moments for the most part.
From what I've seen of the second game, there seem to be more of that type of scares. But otherwise, the Sprawl looks to be even more crazier, with loads more people running around and getting horribly victimized by Necromorphs. One thing I liked was that the game world is consistent and it makes sense. At one point, I was walking through a relatively bright area with colourful adverts, toys and music going on, and I thought "this might have been an arcade". And then hordes of Necromorph children came running at me. |
I just downloaded SCP-173 Containment Breach.
:crying: |
Finally finished my fourth, and at least for now, my last playthrough of Dishonored and managed to get the last few missing achievements. Yay.
|
:
I played it for thirty seconds then deleted it. Lights go off then that horrible fucking thing was in my face. Feels bad man. |
