Am I the only one who thinks that Team Meat's 'aesthetic' looks extremely fucking stupid and lame outside of SMB? I get that their roots are in flash but that is one lazily concocted pair of characters right there.

Crashpunk 11-07-2012 02:25 AM

I've never been a fan of it to be honest. Even in Super Meat Boy.

I just thought that art was to match SMB's 'theme' of retro simple super bloody hard until I saw the Mew Genics pictures.

The Binding of Isaac is not an exception. Gross face + blob= SPOOKY SCARY SKELETONS design. Great game though.

And Edmund McMillen isn't a bad artist, his old 'Badlands' flash games were really disgusting but had really excellent art. So I guess he's just fucking lazy.

I think my point is that all of the hard edges on those 2 pictures that are completely unrelated to the process of playing the game are just not for me.

I'm looking forward to Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, though I probably won't be getting it for a year or two given the Wii U's sneaky controller shenanigans. I am not looking forward to Monster Hunter 4, which is basically a 'Let's dumb this series down, make it a platformer and make you fight plasma spewing aliens' port of MH3.

The one on the right looks a bit like Nathan Drake from Uncharted
Well he does to me.

Varrok 11-09-2012 02:23 AM

None of them look very distinctive, to be honest

Generic white trash, generic black gangster, generic ex-army.

The only distinct protagonist the GTA series has ever had is Tommy Vercetti, and that's only because he was one huge Scarface homage.

Mr. Bungle 11-09-2012 03:23 AM

I liked Nico.

However I don't like the idea of having three protaganists in one GTA game. Save it for the DLC, Rockstar.

Dynamithix 11-09-2012 03:49 AM

Well I'm really open for the multiple characters idea and want to see how they implement it to the game.

A drug using criminal, a young repo man and a retired bank robber.

One and a half out of three isn't bad at all.

And now I feel racist.

Crashpunk 11-09-2012 08:13 AM

I liked CJ from San Andreas. In fact I liked a lot of characters from that game.

Wings of Fire 11-09-2012 08:45 AM

I liked CJ from SanAn. I especially liked how he was a blank slate with no personality who all the other characters bounced off. I like how he had no defined look or image because you were in complete control of that and I like how he had no real motive past get his moronic tit of a brother out of jail and the plot of the game completely loses its steam after that.

But hey, at least he was better than Sweet.

Varrok 11-09-2012 09:04 AM

I disliked CJ. He was black.

I know you're being facetious but Officer Tenpenny and Big Smoke were awesome characters. There's no excuse for CJ, Sweet, Ryder and especially ESPECIALLY OG Loc to be such wastes of skin.

Varrok 11-09-2012 09:21 AM

Well... I guess I got used to main heroes with no real personality by playing GTAIII.

Big Smoke was ok. I don't remember the other guy - it's been ages since I last played the game

Nepsotic 11-09-2012 10:01 AM

Nico from IV was a pretty good character.

Dynamithix 11-09-2012 10:51 AM

Niko, not Nico.

Nepsotic 11-09-2012 11:59 AM

I spent a while trying to figure out which one it was.

OANST 11-09-2012 12:04 PM

You spent Tuns of time on it.

Stop, Nepsotic.

Wings of Fire 11-09-2012 03:18 PM

SanAn had some seriously screwy missions.

Dynamithix 11-09-2012 03:29 PM

Everyone's always complaining about that train mission but I never had any problems with it. It's not that hard.

Mr. Bungle 11-09-2012 03:30 PM

Agreed. I never could finish it. I would love for them to remake or rerelease it with improved graphics, though.

Anyways, I'm still looking forward to GTA V but the idea of having 3 protaganists strikes me as quite odd. GTA games were always about one man arriving in a new town, getting caught up in the illicit activity and his descent into depravity. I don't know how they'll be able to pull this off with three characters. Maybe if they had three seperate but interweaving storylines, this could work. But judging by the little information presented on those characters backstories, I don't know if it really will; I mean, they're pretty much all criminals already.

EDIT: Agreed with WoF. That mission is really screwy.

Never had problems too and I've played that game some times by now...

Tommy still is the best GTA character. And Vice City is the best GTA for me. But I guess I'm too biased, since I love Scarface and Carlito's Way.

Dynamithix 11-10-2012 01:38 AM

Talking about screwy missions, the airplane training ones were god awful and fucking hard.

Nepsotic 11-10-2012 02:11 AM

I could never fly them fuckers.

God Yes

The RC missions were pretty awful too.

Dynamithix 11-10-2012 11:16 AM

Weren't those optional though? If you mean the Zero missions.

You sure? I thought they started the plotline which ended with you 'killing' Toreno.

Dynamithix 11-10-2012 12:44 PM

I can't really remember, been too long. But if they weren't optional, they really should have been...

Strike Witch 11-14-2012 06:26 AM

If you have a moment, think you could sign this?

Mr. Bungle 11-14-2012 06:59 AM

Signed. I loved Timesplitters when I was younger, but never got the chance to fully play through them.

Steamer_KING 11-14-2012 07:17 AM

All done.

Dynamithix 11-14-2012 08:07 AM

Graphics look great, they're really pushing the hardware limits. I have a feeling that Franklin will be my favourite of the three protagonists.

Crashpunk 11-14-2012 08:29 AM

Signed. I loved TimeSplitter 2 so much. :)
