I got to play for fifteen minutes or so the other day. I levelled up twice on the guide dude before the people who I was with shouted at me to do something more interesting, so I went to some town and put buckets on people's heads to steal things, only I didn't see the little girl and she told her mum, who attacked me with a knife.

DarkHoodness 01-04-2012 06:34 AM

I spent much of my time levelling up armourer skill by making a lorry load of daggers and leather bracers - My cat got a legendary set of light dragonscale armour when she was level 30 since I saved up my dragon parts since the start of the game. That's certainly helped me a bit, but it does feel a little like cheating, although some enemies are still as hard as nails - Perhaps it should be like Warcraft where you need to make increasingly harder-to-create armour in order to level up your skill.

Skyrim is perhaps one of the longest single-player games I've played - 54 hours in and I'm only level 37, I've only done the beginning of the main quest, the entire companions quest line, most of the Whiterun sidequests and half of the college questline. I've been looking at other people's playtimes and some are over 300 hours... And I thought 102 hours on FFXII was very long. But that's a good thing - It drags on but it's somehow still interesting for me.

Hats off to Bethesda. If they made an MMO like Skyrim - But for the entire of Tamriel, they'd have a good chance of significantly competing with WoW. I wonder if that's what they're planning?

Im currently lvl 52,i have quite high skills,i didnt do much quests...
and i have married a nord female, and i got enchanted ebony armor complete set with weapons. Also my race is Kajiit female... XD

Dynamithix 01-04-2012 10:52 AM

You dirty lesbian.

I made a new character just a while ago; Logar the Madman! Specialized in two-handed melee weapons and heavy armour. He's level 6 as of now. And he's a stormcloak (a true son of Skyrim).

I also made me some cool enchanted daedric armour on my main character and renamed them to Demigod Armour. That sounds pretty neat eh?

Also 3000 posts nigga

Disgruntled Intern 01-04-2012 11:48 AM

Started playing again after I got back from my two weeks in Reno. It was sort of hard to get back into it, honestly. I felt almost disconnected from my character, which was weird. But I'm back into the full swing of things now, and loving it just as much.

Although I do admit that I've thought of making another character and having them spec'd as a heavy armor and two handed weapon favoring warrior...Mostly because that's what I've played in past TES games. Well, I usually use a sword and shield, but meh. And it's not that I dislike my current character, because he's pretty great. I've never really been one to play the thief/assassin/ranger type, but my Argonian Cerberus definitely falls into those categories. I only use a bow [maxed out on all perks], sneak constantly, and pick the hell out of every lock I come across.

My only real complaint is that it seems like because I'm only wearing/perked in light armor, my options are really limited. I mean I've been wearing a mixture of dark brotherhood and thieves guild armor for what seems like ages. The only really decent thing I have is a helm/dragon priest mask with some nice effects.

Has anyone tried learning/taking the enchantments off of the thieves and dark brotherhood armor so they could enchant some better gear with the same effects?

Ridg3 01-04-2012 02:31 PM

Sir Stinkface is progressing quite well as a thief/assasin/mage/werewolf type of guy. For an Argonian anyways.

Now all I need to do is stop Side questing and get on with the main story.

They cannot. Many unique items cannot be disenchanted. Weirdly Linwe's armor can be, teaching you unique enchantments like Shadowstrike and Shadowsight, though this appears to be an oversight on the part of the developers because they can't actually be applied to any item.

However you can recreate them. Most, if not all of these effects exist as other enchantments on ordinary items. I'm currently raising my enchantment and alchemy skills so that I can put two powerful enchantments on every item of apparel. Not sure which ones yet, though I'm thinking of stacking four instances of Fortify Health Regeneration and Fortify Stamina Regeneration.

Incidentally, there are four item types that can be enchanted with the Fortify [School of Magic] effect which reduces the Magicka cost of those kinds of spells. And the best effect possible is 25% reduction. Free spells, anyone? Elemental Destruction perks and Fortify enchantments also affect the appropriate elemental weapon enchantments. Which means the Fire Damage perks in Destruction improve created Fire Damage enchantments on weapons, and all four 25% Fortify Destruction enchantments on clothes will make enchanted weapons consume no charge when used.

I've been experimenting.

Been there, too. As much as I love my Dark Elf assassin, I find myself missing cutting mobs of enemies in half with a giant battle axe. Think I'll make an Orc battlemaster-type for my next playthrough.

Paraphrased: Enchantment is cool

One of my favourite items in Oblivion was mundane but useful: I used a sigil stone to enchant an Orcish cuirass that I nerdily named Strength of Wrothgaria. While the attack power was helpful iI was actually a shameless thief - the main point was to cancel out and reverse the burden of the armour's weight so I could carry more booty.

And it was damn useful, along with my Sneak-fortifying Thievin' Boots.

Dynamithix 01-05-2012 07:51 AM

I started leveling up my two-handed melee and I did the daedric quest to get Ebony Blade. That sword is wicked, you can only upgrade it by killing people that are loyal to you.

I might be a heartless bastard, but hey, my sword deals more damage now!

Scraby 01-05-2012 12:07 PM

Well im up to lvl 53,my skills are quite high,im gonna enchant my ebony armor, for now i have only enchanted my ebony bow and sword to immobilizing, its quite useful for fighting stronger opponents....Also i have the ability to one shot kill someone with an arrow when im in an ambush position. Also i became a master assassin.

Mr. Bungle 01-05-2012 01:29 PM

Does anyone know the level cap in this game? I'm already level 27 (mostly due to smithing/alch/enchanting) and still have, like, 70% of the game left to do.

Dynamithix 01-05-2012 02:07 PM

81 is the max level you can reach. It requires every skill to be 100.

Scraby 01-05-2012 02:07 PM

well the mathematical cap is 81 i think, but one of my friends has reached lvl 115 without any cheating or anything.

Dynamithix 01-05-2012 03:25 PM

Oh. I didn't know that. Maybe you can continue leveling and gaining perks after 81.

Scraby 01-05-2012 04:10 PM

well i went searching around and as it seems that you can reach up to 300 lvl but thats quite hard, and it needs lots of monsters to be killed.

Scraby 01-07-2012 07:22 AM

U killed em all XD
Killing ppl removes quests, and sometimes it might interfere with the main quests.
So if you want to resurrect em no need to reset your save game.Just press that tile button left to one and up to tab, select the dead body by clicking on it,and type resurrect.
Also if you want your ebony blade to be even more powerfull you can also use resurrect 1 i think on killed friendly npcs so you can kill em over and over again.

Dynamithix 01-07-2012 08:57 AM

I play on the Xbox though. But I've already done almost every proper quest in the game, so it doesn't worry me.

BoneyHead95 01-07-2012 12:30 PM

Just played Skyrim. The game crashed on me THREE times. But a part from that it's really fun. :D

Love my overweight, black and green Argonian. The only thing is, everyone overweight in Skyrim. :D

Dynamithix 01-07-2012 12:43 PM

I bet you're playing on the PS3 if your game crashes that often.

hedjeroo 01-07-2012 12:44 PM

Ah the crashes. Fortunately mine usually happen just after an autosave. Was annoying when I was running somewhere from Riften and had to start all over though. I think our crashes are happening due to unpatched game though. Don't see why we haven't yet, actually, considering that we don't have any mods...

Me and my boyfriend have been fighting more actively over control of the one working PC for playing Skyrim lately. He's playing Skith the Argonian mage, I'm playing Hildegarde the Nordic barbarian princess. I'm unfortunately already planning a Dunmer mage to play next in my head...

I'd originally started playing as a Khajiit but thought I'd try a blunter approach before the sneaky-sneak. And of course, on both characters I managed to somehow kill a useful NPC (with Hilde it was Adrianna, I loved that woman and somehow she died ;_;... and the catperson killed Faendel after an unsuccessful pickpocket attempt).

And I'm annoyed because I've barely encountered any dragons. I even had one flee. I didn't even hit you yet, you scaredy-dragon! Come back and eat skyforged steel ya twat! >: (

Nice!

Yep that's what happen to me. It happen more then six times now. But funny thing is I got rid of some Game Files and it help. (Metal Gear Solid 4 takes some much room)

Right now am playing as an Argonian. (As you know) I just massing a round. Doing some side quests and robbing people. I don't know why but I playing really evil this time unlike any other RPG I've been playing.

Like there was this mail man going to the king to give him a message and I went up behind and took the message. So he would go to the king and get his head cut off. And I saw this redguard trying to kill this bear. So I took his horse and he short the dam thing. The horse REALLY did take a arrow to the knee :D

I do tons of crime when I'am outside the city. But never inside the/an city.

Mr. Bungle 01-08-2012 07:35 AM

Yeah, the games crashed on me 2 or 3 times so far. It hasn't been a big deal, though, since I save often (plus autosave if plentiful), but is still pretty annoying.

Also, I started a new character last night only to place through teh main storyline (which is glitched to hell in my main file, annoyingly). He's a Redguard warrior, and I'm going to build him as a two-handed tank character.

I know I should've chosen an Orc or a Nord, but I really really wanted my dude to look like Lando Calrissian.

DarkHoodness 01-08-2012 12:58 PM

Sometimes it pays to read the books in the Elder Scrolls games. For a bonus part of a video game that only a small percentage of the player base will actually bother to read, they're surprisingly well-written.

(also, only after 55 hours into Skyrim did I realise that there was a "sprint" key... I thought the difference between walking and running was sprinting for some reason. Derp.)

Lol same happened to me XD and it took me time to find the shout button.

T-nex 01-08-2012 09:26 PM

So.... My stance on Skyrim so far...

I really like it. It's different from Morrowind and Oblivion, but it kinda takes me back to when I used to play morrowind.
I feel really immersed when I play, and the combat is really fun(though I don't quite understand it yet).
The one thing I really hate though is the UI.... it's total poop. But I keep being too lazy to download a mod. I guess I'll do that.

Also the new journal is annoying. I liked the more in depth one, rather than the short descriptions of goals.

But all in all, I love it =) However, I'm not addicted yet. I don't go through withdrawal when I dont play.

gishygleb 01-08-2012 10:14 PM

T-nex 01-09-2012 06:06 AM

Yey! I installed the SkyUI mod... Fantastic :) I shall also install the Categorized Favorites mod when I have time. Then I'm good to go ^^
These mods really improve the experience for me.

Scraby 01-09-2012 06:11 AM

Ugh can i ask if anyone knows,i have an ebony sword, and i favourited it,and everytime i use a bow or something when i equipt it,it always goes to my left hand, and i selected it to right hand becouse i use a shield on my left hand.... :[

DarkHoodness 01-09-2012 04:51 PM

@T-nex - One of my friends doesn't like Skyrim 'cause of its menu system, and I find that a big shame since he's missing out on an otherwise awesome game. I do kind of agree with him that the menu sucks, but it's not THAT bad. However maybe this can persuade him to try it out again... Thanks.

http://www.oddworldforums.net/attach...1&d=1326160210

Anyway, while reading a wiki page about werewolves, I read about the Ring of Hircine a while ago... Then decided to do the quests for it since I was in the nearby area. After some trial and error to find out the right options for the quest in order to get it, I am now a proud Ring of Hircine owner! Unlimited werewolf transformations FTW!

I didn't bother getting a horse since sprinting was almost as fast. Being a werewolf is a little useless for combat apart from the perks (you can't heal yourself with spells or loot), but now it's the best "Horse" ever. Pity about the 1000 gold bounty I got simply by transforming near some passing Whiterun guards that happened to be out in the middle of nowhere for some stupid reason.

Also it's a little funny that my cat became a werewolf considering she's named after my worgen WoW rogue alt character (who in turn is named after one of the bots from UT2004... How original I am).

Bullet Magnet 01-09-2012 05:19 PM

It's ironic that Khajit make the best werewolves. Beastform benefits from their unarmed combat bonus.

I always liked the werewolf for combat. The kill animations that turn up later on are brutal, and I find a perverse enjoyment in eating Thalmor. And while the battle can go very wrong very quickly, so long as you make a beeline for the most powerful mage and charge him down, you can kill him before he even gets back up.

Mr. Bungle 01-09-2012 09:07 PM

I don't know why people are complaining about the UI in Skyrim. I think its fantastic, much better thab Oblivion's.

MeechMunchie 01-09-2012 11:06 PM

Are you on console? If so, then you probably don't consider "big enough to read from across the room" a negative.

T-nex 01-10-2012 05:07 AM

@ Mr. Bungle

On PC it's hell.... Having to do all that scrolling.

With the UI Mod, is so much better. Way smaller text, and you can also sort items by weight, which is extremely useful.

SkyUI simply gives you a better grip on the items.

But good for you for liking the UI I guess.

Bullet Magnet 01-10-2012 05:11 AM

I like the UI too, and I don't do much scrolling.

Then again, I do organise my things.

Dynamithix 01-10-2012 05:18 AM

The UI was most definitely designed for consoles. I hate it, I much preferred Oblivion's UI. The skill tree is alright, but everything else, including the awful favourites menu, sucks imo.

T-nex 01-10-2012 06:18 AM

I hate organizing stuff x_x So yea.... not for me. Much easier with a simple button.

I'd love a UI in the old Morrowing/Oblivion style though... or at least something more... 'olden'.

Bullet Magnet 01-10-2012 08:38 AM

The Oblivion UI was a mess. I couldn't even play the main damn storyline because I couldn't find the quest objectives.
