I downloaded my free Mac copy. It took fucking hours. It's also the most I've ever downloaded in one hit. I'm impressed that it can run with all the bells and whistles turned on and minimal FPS lag on my 2 year old Macbook. It's not going to like those huge, open areas in the middle of the game, though. I'll have to turn some of the fancy stuff off once I get upto that. Also, the PSN is back online!
So, who wants to play co-op sometime? |
Sure, give a shout on Steam sometimes. Steam ID = TigerXtrm
I bought Portal 2 a couple days ago. It's the first thing I've bought for myself this year. It was fun. Haven't tried the multiplayer yet.
I'm up for co-op if you want to.
Because someone hasn't got the game yet. *ahem*dixanadu*ahem* |
I have it for the 360.
Same.
Send me a friend request then. I don't have a headset at the moment, though.
You are my friend on Live. Ronzie4Lulz is my GT.
Silly OANST. |
Anyone has P2 for PS3?
Yes.
I recommend using the free PC/Mac download, though. I cannot stress how much more enjoyable it is with a mouse. |
I cannot stress how much of an insignificant fucking difference it is.
I let a friend of mine borrow my copy of Portal 2 a week or so ago. Big mistake. He's a little weenie who can't play for more than 20 minutes at a time without getting headaches, so it's taking him for fucking EVER to beat it. I've also never seen anyone quite as slow at Portal puzzles than him. I mean, it is NOT THAT HARD to understand that the little bouncy panels do. Jesus. I really want him to complete it (it took me less than a week, and then about two days to play through it all again) so I can play it again, to the point where I've bitten the bullet and am going through both the Orange Box version of Portal and still Alive to get all the achievements. That's being a fan. Not little baby stories concocted while driving a little baby car around St. Babysburg. |
I cannot stress how much better I find it. Maybe it's just me, but a mouse is much more intuitive for me.
I just played online for the first time with a total stranger. I barely used the chat (the one time that wasn't saying hello was to apologise for killing them) and we hardly ever misunderstood eachother. The gestures and ping systems work brilliantly. My partner was a lot better than me. I think they'd finished the courses we did (mass and velocity, team building) before. GLaDOS wasn't hesitant to let me know that she preferred them to me and that I was the dumber of the two. I love the online system. It works brilliantly. If I communicate that easily with a total stranger, it should be excellent when I play with a friend. |
I agree with Phylum. The mouse gives you a lot more freedom and speed when it comes to puzzle solving and it makes a lot more sense. Portal, to me, seems as though it was built for PC's and was ported to consoles just to please consoleheads.
You two are so cute with your delusions. Especially that 'consoleheads' remark. I mean, it's inconceivable that they'd want to, you know, make more money by broadening the availability of their game. Or to please their fans. Oooh, here's an idea: maybe you can find some way to justify how Valve nickels and dimes PC gamers for everything they've got with expressions. Go for it, kiddo.
And I think I did mention that they ported it to consoles to please their fans because, now keep up with this, not everyone has the money for a high spec computer to play it on and some of the fans are console users. I wouldn't be so niave to think that Valve is raping PC users for money with their games seeing as someone can just go clickity click on a torrent site and get it for free.
Mac, now you're just being stupid. Which is unusual for you.
Oh, so I'm not allowed to be annoyed with the way people ceaselessly spout off on the superiority of a Mouse (or keyboard, or controller. This issue goes across the board for me) when it's such an arbitrary and inconsequential difference? Of course, how dare I express annoyance at that kind of dumb, needless shit. Surely that makes me stupid, getting annoyed at something that annoys me.
Kindly get over your mice and keyboards, children. It's the strangest thing, but whenever I start talking to people on the internet about Valve games, I get really nasty and mean. I have no idea why, but any opinion that conflicts with mine just sets me right off. I don't mean to be so cunty, it's just, you know, you're annoying me. Poor excuse, but the closest thing to justification I can offer is that I'm such a big fan of their games, which is of course no excuse at all. I recognize that the mouse is typically advantageous for FPS games, but Portal is the ONE exception. Also, YOU'RE stupid. Butthead. |
Oh, so they're not allowed to be happy with the way they find the mouse works better for them? Of course, how dare they express approval at that kind of useful game-enhancing development. Surely that makes them worthy of berating, being pleased at something that pleases them.
It does make a difference, that's why they're able to prefer one over the other. But hey, isn't it stupid how some peple like green more than blue? They're both colours, aren't they? You can use them both to paint your walls, why should personal taste come into it? |
:
That too. Mice are smoother, simpler, easier to forget about and slightly faster. Plus they leave a hand free for... stuff.
Wait, so it's wrong for me to think that it doesn't matter what game peripheral you use, and to get annoyed at people trying to one up the Mouse, but it's okay for you to call me stupid for disagreeing? I know I can be a big gasbag constantly, but that's ass backwards. Or wait, am I stupid for looking down on the peons subjected to nickel and diming, at the 'conveniece' of a mouse? Either way, sit and spin. Douche.
Aw look, the troll is trying to throw a fit but utterly failing at it. How cute. Let's throw bread at it until it goes away.
I just finished arranging the ending song for flute ensemble. It doesn't work as well as Still Alive, but it's ok. I'll probably post a video once I record my soon-to-be-formed flute ensemble playing it. I'm considering transcribing the turret song, too. That would work in a smaller ensemble.
I just finished the story again and loved it again. It was good to do a runthrough to get a feel for the post-game atmosphere that helps to make the song so good just in-case there was anything missing from my version. |

You know, the 3rd paragraph you helpfully edited into your other post and the rest of your most recent one pretty much says what needs to be said. I called you stupid because you're being a big gasbag. Acknowledgement does not equal resolution. Try and work on it. :

I want a seprate Poll.
Mouse/Keyboard VS Controller. |
Could have sworn that thread existed. Oh wait, it does.
So it does. Turns out I commented in it as well, Boy I need to learn to remember.
I have all of the single player achievements, but no one to play multiplayer with. I do have a headset now, if anyone is up to tackling it with me.
Portal 2 is amazing. I only got it rather recently. A little too easy for my tastes but I enjoyed it a great deal regardless. Haven't played much multiplayer yet, though; the guy I played a few levels with wouldn't reply to half of what I said so it got rather frustrating.
By the way, Nate; why is your post invisible? I didn't see how old the thread was, and I was going to ask if it was just me that couldn't see anything when I thought to click the Quote button and read what your post consisted of. I'm still not sure if it's meant to be invisible, though, and if it is - why? Wouldn't it be better if people read that? |
It's invisible because I /was/ planning on deleting that post after DarkHoodness had posted. Thanks for making that impossible now.

Yeah I requested to necro-post here, there's something small I wanna share.
Ever wanted to play the original Portal in Portal 2's updated engine and level style/design? Last night I found someone making a mod for Portal 2 doing just that, and they have released a demo of the first few levels. It's something I was waiting for someone to do for a little while. I dunno how I missed his own showcase vid, but I did, and made my own vid (even though YouTube loves to corrupt my stuff lately). However one of my suggestions was that he should re-introduce the original soundtrack to retain some atmosphere from the original game, and my vid still demonstrates that (I added it in editing): There are some bugs, and perhaps the starting chamber should be like the original and not look like the hotel room, but otherwise it looks very good. Will be keeping a close eye on this. |

I haven't been on Portal 2 in a while but what I remember is that the DLC hurt mine and Havoc's brains.
I can MP with some of you if you need - I've completed both MP and DLC, but I'll try not to spoil anything.
