So, I've been using f.lux for a few weeks now, and I'm ready to give a wholehearted recommendation.
If, like me, you find yourself using your PC all through the night, you'll probably start feeling a sort of aching pain in your eyes, along with the occasional headache, or even trouble sleeping. That's because (gasp) your brain didn't evolve to be staring at bright white objects six hours after sunset.* What f.lux does is gently adjust your monitor's colour balance at sunset; keeping it roughly consistent with the ambient light outside, plateauing at a warm golden hue. Due to some science bullshit about cone cells and high-energy wavelengths, tinting the monitor orange (i.e. reducing the level of blue light emitted) will reduce or elminate the painful effects of using a monitor after dark. Download (Windows) Linux - iOS - Manco Here's the settings I use and recommend (minus location): https://i.imgur.com/sSV8I85.jpg It'll look strange at first, but stick with it for at least a week. I've been using it for almost a month, and not only do I not notice it at all, it's genuinely painful when I turn it off. Best application I've seen since Hexels. If you're Slog Bait or Vyrien or something, hit Alt+End to send the colours back to normal for an hour (it'll notify you when it turns back on). As for Crashpunk, I don't think it effects recordings, streams, or that sort of thing. It's actually imitating halogen room lighting i.e. the lights around you, but even in a darkened room it should help.
