The first screen is impossible if you die......

It wasn't too hard after the scrab...
Also, it's not impossible if you get killed by the scrab. He has a delay in which you can get out of the way before he kills you. I did it like that on purpose because I knew it was hard. |
Well I found it quite impossible. I had to keep going back and doing the level select code again. Apart from that it was really good. Lots of action with the scrabs. I also loved the figureing out you needed to do with all them sligs. Took me quite a few tries to figure out how to get past that.
What have all you thought of my two variations at the moment? |
:
On the Scrabanian variation, I thought it was good how you included some sligs into it, and made it interesting with the row of bombs. Overall, both of your variations show a good range of difficulty, at the same time being well-planned and thought through with interesting events. Well done indeed, I'd love to see more variations from you. :) |
Awww thanks :) Didn't expect to get feedback as good as that. Personally I thought the Scrabanian one was a little crappy lol. But hey if others are enjoying it I really don't care. What I want to know is how long did it take you to complete the Paramonian one?
Did you get caught in the nice trap waiting for you if you try to go across the background? How many times did you get caught in the explosions when the sligs run into the bombs? How long did it take you to figure out the screen where you have to jump in the well with the slig stood by it? |
:
Joke-mods are a good example of that. Still nice levels and it's cool to see a new level mod. I lack the ability to stay at it because I usually get bored so I probably won't post many (impressive) levels on here. |
Awwww :( I know the feeling. Nearly gave up on those 2 variations a couple of times because I accadently made parts impossible and it was anoying having ot keep going back to correct the mistakes. But nice to see it was worth it
Ill let you guys choose what level I should edit next. I'll do anything but Rupturefarms I. That level always seems to crash whenever I edit it. |
Mosaic Lines would be awesome to edit because of how boring the original is. Maybe making it more interesting with some mines, maybe a scrab or a couple sligs and definately take the sligshot guys out because they slow it down...
Just to make it better because I really don't like how boring that part is. Also, you do know how to add scrabs and other stuff into a level that doesn't have them right? |
How do I add Scrabs and other objects that were originally not in the level? I'm also working on the Monsaic Lines right now
|
I think you use Pauls extractor program with mosaic lines and scrab temple and then drag scrab.ban into the files from mosaic lines then use the builder to repack the level.
I haven't used it in a while but I'm sure that how you do it. |
I don't know how to use the Builder to get the .ban files back into the .lvl files. Could somebody help me?
|
You have to have the level files in a specific folder and open MakeLVL.BAT and type in the folder and the output level file.

There should be like a category thing.
e.g. TYPE: Single Level Just so we know how long and what it is. Single Level Full Game Levels (lvl1, lvl2, lvl3) Joke Mod Custom Mod (New Scenery, Enemy Placement, New Level) Newer Version (Updated Levels) |
Ok guys I'm in the middle of working on the Monsaic Lines. I just encountered something really really weird. I was just testing a section with a sleeping slog. I purposely woke up the slog. It starts rocking its body back and forth as normal but instead of the usual grunts it was making high pitched noises just like the sloggies would make when they die on Abe's Exoddus
I also changed the properties on a well. I changed the position abe landed. When I came out of the well abe just shot across the screen and dies after he hit a wall...... |
There's a way to fix the well thing, but I'm afraid it's experimenting.
Did you copy-paste the slog? |
The well thing happened to me a few times, but instead he would shoot out normally then die when he touches the floor.
Also that happened when I moved the start point. |
Here we go guys. My Monsaic Lines variation complete. I decided to keep the settings for the well so it shoots Abe at the wall. I've managed to prevent him from being killed by this by placing a soft landing in the area he hits. Anyway, here we go ENJOY! :D
Game:Abe's Oddysee Level:Monsaic Lines Difficulty:Hard Made with: Paul's Level Editor 0.6 (Thanks Paul :)) Download Link:http://filesmelt.com/dl/L1.LVL |

Or what I mean to say is that the numbers for the well properties are signed when they should be unsigned. |
Like I said. I worked my way around the problem by placing a "Soft Landing" where Abe hits the wall. I decided to leave the well as it was after I edited it because it looks funny.
EDIT (To avoid double post): Hey guys I'm currently working on the Stockyards. I'm wondering. What property do you need to edit on a Slig so that theres a longer delay beetween when he shouts freeze and when he actually shoots you. No matter what I edit the Slig still seems to shoot to quickly. Sadly until I can figure out how to extend this delay one part of my level is impossible |
I thought there was a value on the slig called reaction time or delay or something simular. Are you sure you're not missing them?
|
Chal Time? and Z Shoot Delay seem to be the only things I can find that could possibly relate to it but I make the values fro them bigger but still the slig starts shooting too quickly. Also does Don't Shoot mean the slig wont shoot Abe or does it mean it wont shoot a possesed slig?
|
The only way to know is to try it and see what happens...
|
Well I kept trying and trying. But couldent seem to get anywhere. I've given up and resdesigned the whole screen. The variation is almost finished. What have you guys thought about my Monsaic Lines variation?
|
Only one scene crashed my game, but that was just a lesson i had to learn about that. Also the parts with the Sligs in the Background got REALLY annoying, really fast.:fuzmad: But on the other hand, i like what you did with the dynamic mine positioning, made it feel kinda like a 3D path :D also, i don't know what you did to make the slogs sound squeakie, but you gotta try that again, maybe you could actually make like sloggies for Rupture farms? xD
|
If it was the screen with the 62 million possesion orbs your game crashed then yeah it was very harsh of me to do that since your forced to start the level again unless you saved :P I'm an evil bastard :D
Don't complain! It was only one screen with the background Sligs and all you had to do was chant and kill them :P I shall explain about the Slog's Now I wanted to include Slogs in my variation. However because no Slogs actually appear in the original level I used Paul's tools to put the SLOG.BAN file in because I thought that it would be needed. If it really means anything the exact SLOG.BAN file I put into the variation was from the Paramonian Temple. Now I did try a test. I made a "background Slog" on the foreground if you know what I mean? Did a quick test by possessing a Slig then shouting "Ere boy!" but the "background Slog" just falls right through the floor I would like to know how to get the sound for the Glukkons. As you saw in my variation you only see the animation. I wanted a theme in my variation that the Magog Cartel had taken over the Monsaic Lines and I thought it would be really cool to have the Glukkons shouting "KILL HIM!". Sadly I coulden't achieve that :( But at least you can see them :) |
Meh, whateva, i wanna see your variant of the Stockyards ASAP :D
